One of my bridesmaids uses the Makeup Studio for all of her special events, so I went for a hair trial with Reese and a makeup trial with Donna. I had done a trial at another salon, and couldn’t put my finger on why I wasn’t thrilled with it. I gave only loose instruction to Reese, and she came up with an amazing hairstyle that fit exactly what I was looking for. The same happened with Donna. I brought a few photos from pinterest to show I wanted a more dramatic makeup look, and she really delivered. I only booked them in March for our June wedding, but they were very accommodating, and didn’t seem to mind that I booked closer to the date. The day of our wedding Reese came with a second hairstylist, and Matthew came to start us off with Donna coming halfway through to take over. Everyone arrived right on time, and my four bridesmaids, Mom, Mother-in-law, and myself were all done ahead of time, and we were all so, so happy with our hair and makeup. They are a bit pricier than other salons I’d looked at, but I felt that it was worth the cost, since the end result was so stunning. Everyone from the Makeup Studio was so professional, and I would definitely book them again.

Not a good experience but you get what you pay for. The receptionists are not too smart. The phone call to make the appointment was painful. Show up 15 minutes early and I’m told that the girl doing my hair is running behind. Great!!! So I sat down. No one offered me anything. At least 35 or 40 minutes later I’m introduced to a Donna. She looks messy and her hair alone made me second guess this salon. Anyway it should have been simple. I asked for a singe process at the root and to not cover my highlights. Then I like a glaze for shine. She had to ask someone else their advice. Scary. All in all the color was ok. Not terrible but not great. I booked a blowdry so I had that done. She was very rough. Hit me in the head with the blower. And I only use boar bristle brushes on my hair and she didn’t have any. Hence breakage. Oh I will not be going back. I’ll just go back to my other colorist. Or buy a groupon for somewhere great and hope I fall in love!!!

This place is always packed I don’t know how they have 3.5 stars!!! Every single person that works here is always smiling and friendly even if you’re not there to see them! Jacqueline at the front desk is always so sweet and helpful! Donna & Matthew do my makeup for any events and always give me exactly what I had in mind(not too much I don’t wear a lot of makeup). Reese or Ashley are my go to’s for my hair needs, cut, blowout, updo they’re both sweet, funny and amazing at what they do! Johnnie is my colorist, she’s talented beyond words! She’s so sweet and always gives me the best suggestions! I’ve seen Janine a few times for color if Johnnie is unavailable or booked, she’s so sweet and I always leave feeling like a celebrity!

Not sure why this place has only 3 stars. Called today to make an appointment today and they were able to squeeze me in no problem. Beautiful, clean, trendy salon. Front desk staff was super friendly and accommodating. They have coffee, water, tea and wine! What’s to hate about a salon that offers that? I was treated like a celebrity, I had Donna and Tori blow drying my long mane before being cut and styled. Donna was amazing and friendly. She recommended great products and I was in and out in about a half hour. Love this place! Will certainly be back for more cuts and services.

Cant believe some of the reviews on here! So this review is very much overdue… First off Donna and Jacqueline are awesome! They always are accommodating and always get me in for an appointment right away. The place is clean, everyone is friendly and its nice to have a hot cup of coffee as soon as I roll out of bed rushing to my(day long) hair appointment. I have a long mane, so just as any salon it takes a few hours for perfection. :) They always have up to date magazines(ladies you know it sucks when you are ready last years People!) Jaime always cuts my hair shes awesome! Jaime also does my hair for every occasion I go to… Baby showers, weddings. even my own engagement party and bridal shower. Johnnie does my color and she is phenomenal! I cant say enough great things about this salon! My sisters, my mother and my aunt all go here including a couple of friends I’ve referred. I’ve moved from NY to LI in 2011– I never thought i would find a salon that compares to my old salon in NY– this salon beats it!

I’ve been to The Studio several times, each time with an appointment. I don’t know why I even bothered booking appointments because they don’t seem to matter there. The barbershop has double-booked me every single time and I was there for hours every visit. «The Shop» is the worst with keeping their schedule, and never seem to apologize when you’ve waited hours for a haircut. Do yourself a favor and try another place.

Very professional service. I was impressed that there was a separate coloring studio, a separate styling area, a separate make up area AND a separate barber area on the other side for men. Danielle did my highlights superbly. This salon has a very Manhattan vibe.

I felt nickled-and-dimed when I went in for highlights earlier this season. $ 120 for a full head of painted on highlights is fine on it’s own, but I was then charged $ 50 for a «root touch up» to cover just a few unruly grays, $ 20 for toner after the highlights, and an additional $ 35 for a blowout. All of this while three different people were working on my hair(so three tips…) At the very minimum, why couldn’t my hair have been blown out for free considering everything else I was charged for? At the end, the highlights were sub-par at best. When I spoke to the colorist and told her I wasn’t pleased with the results, she couldn’t articulate a good response as to why they came out that way. Instead she said«you can come back and we’ll paint more on.» Yeah… no thanks. I’ve had better work done at less expensive salons. I prefer Cactus across the street and will be returning there.

My experience at the Make Up Studio was absolutely terrible! I went because I had won a gift certificate for a free haircut if you get a color treatment. As I proceeded to sit down with a young colorist, she basically asked me what I wanted with no smile or introduction whatsoever. No offering of a magazine, coffee tea or water like the other colorists had offered their clients. When I showed her a picture of what I wanted, she basically gave me an attitude while saying that she couldn’t promise me anything and we will see how my hair reacts. During the entire coloring process, she did not say a word or strike up any conversation. I sat there doing literally nothing. I heard her fighting with other colorists as well. I felt like I was on Tabitha’s Salon Takeover. After my color is done, I get it washed out and this nice woman tells me I will get a glaze. Instead, the colorist barges in and goes«No, she doesn’t get one.» Meanwhile, no one had even asked me. I would have paid extra for that. But apparently, it wasn’t my decision?! They then told me I would have to wait a while to get my haircut because«they were informed that I had come in early.» I felt like they were trying to turn it around on me? I came in 5 minutes early. So now I have to wait extra long? I ended up waiting 1 hour with wet hair for this haircut. They gave me a complimentary leave in treatment which was nice, but I felt that they were switching me around in chairs to keep me busy. Still no offering of any kind of beverage. as I just sat there. Finally, I get my haircut and this woman is fighting with me about how much to take off. I asked for a dusting but she insisted over and over that I get more. I finally gave in to shut her up. Thanks for respecting my wishes as a customer. I had one request for my blowout, to give me volume at the roots. She started to fight with me again saying I needed to have layers for that. As she blew it out, she was very rough with my hair, pulling very hard. At the end of the blowout, she made my roots flat to my head. As I walked up to go pay, the receptionist gave me a hard time about my gift certificate being old, meanwhile there was no expiration date whatsoever. They let me have it in the end. When she charges me $ 140, I asked if that was with the haircut charge taken off. She tells me I was charged $ 120 + $ 20 for a glaze. I said, excuse me? I never got a glaze. She literally fought with me in this extremely bitchy attitude arguing that I did. She told me she’d get my colorist to prove it. My colorist comes to the desk and goes«opps, my mistake.» I walked out without tipping anyone. I will never go back for the trouble I had to go through at this salon. The only pro to this experience was that my color did come out great but it’s COMPLETELY not worth the trouble.

The Hair Studio/Make Up Studio is awesome. On a total whim, without hearing anything about them at all, I used this salon for my/my bridesmaids wedding day hair and makeup. The studio made each one of us feel comfortable, welcome and beautiful! They did a great job and I was still getting compliments at midnight, what more could I want? I’ve since been back for two haircuts and brought my husband over to the barber shop. All excellent! I plan to try out their colorists next…

I have never written a review anywhere but I just felt that I had to this time: Danielle was amazing! I walked in w a boched dye job and had already been to two other places. When I tried to explain what I wanted, she pulled up a chair and looked through photos w me Til she understood what I wanted. The best part is — I got exactly what I had been trying for this whole time! Thanks so much Danielle and thank you Dan for the free blow out«just because». I would’ve paid top dollar for it! See you all soon

I guess I should hold my judgment until the day after when I have to style it myself, but I’m pretty sure I got the best hair cut of my life this afternoon. My stylist was intuitive to my needs, asked questions along the way, and was knowledgable about my hair type and how a certain cut would effect it in the long run. I came out with a perfectly face-framing bob that will hopefully help me transition into a longer hair style. Added bonus: I was in and out in 35 minutes, including waiting, hair washing, and styling. I didn’t even feel rushed at all. They were just pleasant and efficient. Will be back again for hair color!
