The Bayview Duck is Bacliff’s best kept secret, with an eclectic collection of cultural artifacts, cozy atmosphere and a simple traditional UK menu delivers an authentic British Pub experience. A big thank to the owners, Alec and Sherrie, for the warm hospitality — they made us feel right at home. We will definitely be back real soon!

This place is badass! We just moved to the area and have been seeing this place driving down 146. It was such a pleasant surprise! They have a peculiar set of draft beers that I was suspicious of. All of the beers I tried were delish! I had a Santos and my boyfriend had a couple of mixed pints. They also have some bottles beers such as Shiner Bock. We tried the Scottish eggs and they were so tasty! We were told to beware of the mustard which was similar to wasabi but so worth it! The fried mushrooms were great! We tried the fish and chips & shepards pie for our entrees and were not disappointed! We also had a great conversation with the bartender/owner who managed to put on a DVD of Pink Floyd which was very welcoming. The only thing that bothered me was that there was smoking allowed in the bar. If you can stand that then this place is perfect! They have an outside area that we were told about but did not have the chance to check out. Overall this place is authentic and gives you the feel of a real British pub in England! Can not wait to go back and try some more pints! Cheers!

Just when you start to give up on the Clear Lake area bar/foodie scene… this place magically tapped me on the shoulder. Stopped in on a whim after work and could not be more impressed. This is TRUE Mom and Pop… Alec and Sherrie are amazing at making sure you are well taken care of. Great live music on weekends(or at least I think it is just weekends). I will be back more than I care to admit… HIGHLYRECCOMEND!

We always enjoy our time at the Duck. It has a real street-feel English pub. A ton of odd eclectic items everywhere, including of course lots of ducks. Live music nights are great as well. Service is outstanding and full of personality. Food is pub fare. I have had the large fish & chips and enjoyed them very much. Great crisp on the three fried fish. Fries are great too. The«Scotch» Egg is outstanding too. It is a sausage ball with boiled egg inside, cut in fourths to share. The mustard makes it perfect. Bangers & Mash are good too. Guinness tastes like we are back in Ireland. The owner, Alec, always has great suggestions as well. Definitely a place to spend quality time with quality people or not so quality people. You choose. Quack. Quack.

This is a quaint little English-style dive in Bacliff and I was excited to try it because of the fish & chips and Scotch egg offerings. I left with mixed feelings. First, this place has a smoking bar area and the smell permeates even the non-smoking area. That’s not necessarily a deal breaker for me, but the smoke does affect the taste of the food. As well, I had to launder my clothes and take a shower when I got back home. The atmosphere is divey and kitschy in a fun sort of way. It feels like I ate dinner in the dark storage room of a flea market. Our service was outstanding(the reason for the third star). The beer selection is also wonderful, and they play around with mixing styles, which is cool. The food, in short, is fine. But it really tasted like something from Sysco, rather than food that someone carefully prepared. I had the fish & chips. It was definitely cod — all three perfectly shaped pieces. My daughter had a chicken fried steak concoction. Again, decent. But very much like something I might get at Luby’s. The Scotch egg was ok, if not slightly over cooked. It’s something I’d try again here though. Bottom line, I would probably return here for the beer and live bands. I’d limit my grub to appetizers though.

My husband and I were looking for a new place to have a nice cold beer and a bite. We found this place by searching on Unilocal. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh and tasty. I had the fish and chips, and my husband had Shepherd’s pie. We had several beer mixers that were all very good. Our waiter was very attentive and nice. There was a live band that was great. This is a really cool and interesting place. We will definitely be back.

Even a vegetarian can find food here. Seriously unhealthy food but amazingly good! :) The company is very lovely as well. We were kept very entertained. Sampling beers and different combinations until we found our personal favorite was fun too. If you’re looking for a great British pub, stop on by!

Good food. Better than you expect, even after me feelin you the food is good. Yes, even better than that. Ambiance is good. It’s old-world-ish, kitschy, but not unpleasantly so. Good service once you get noticed, and a good selection of beer. Probably the best Guinness in Houston. The only negative is smoking is still allowed.

A parody of a British pub. Beer selection was OK. The crab cakes were of the Sams Club variety. Smoking is allowed and permeates the non smoking section. Pretty run down place in all.

Love this place! Bangers and mash is fantastic and the fish and chips are the best I’ve ever had(in Texas). They have scotch eggs! Don’t care for the mustard they serve with them, but they’re delicious plain. Very family atmosphere — we’ve been here a few times but next time I think we’ll take them up on their invitation to sit at the bar with them for a Guinness and a match. Don’t be scared — this place is a gem.

One of the best Sheppard/Cottage Pie in the area. Absolutely love the Mixology and atmosphere. Very laid back place, perfect after a hard days night. Many beers on tap and also a full service bar. The Bayview Duck has never disappointed. Love the owner’s. Check it out…

Really wanted it to be good — unfortunately the Fish n Chips were akin to Ms. Paul’s at best — so much potential — but appears to lack energy and enthusiasm in the place.

You go to BVD for the owners. There’s a real Brit running this pub. Small selection of excellent British beers, all in excellent condition. It’s hard to figure out what they are, though, because there is no beer list. Alec likes to create beer blends and his beer menu is a list of these creations. The food is British pub grub, mostly fried and heavy. Service is spotty. Ambience is dark, knick-knack filled and a little dusty. Smoking is permitted indoors, and fumes have permeated the building. On hot days, the AC doesn’t quite keep up.

Personally, my wife and I love this place. It’s local, and they have many fine beers(on tap and in bottle), and the staff are super nice and there is always some sort of good company. Live music Friday and Saturday nights, always a welcome addition. The food is pretty good too, be sure to check out the Guinness Beef, very home cooked feel to it and you won’t leave hungry! A specialty I’d like to point out here that isn’t for everyone is «beer cocktails» many consist of topping beers with Guinness or Left Hand Nitro Stout but it doesn’t stop there, ask Alec the bartender for a reccomendation and he’ll usually never steer you wrong! Another thing I like is that they carry Galactic Coast beer which is a new brewery out of Dickinson, I love keeping it local and the Bayview Duck does just that. Regarding the other reviews listed here, I just want to say that«the Duck» isn’t a first impressions kind of place, the more you come, the more you like it. IMHO anyway. See you at the Duck! ;-)

I can’t tell you what it looks like on the inside because it is so dark all the time, but I have been here a handful of times and have always had a good time. It is a comfortable place to drink beer and have a good Scotch egg if you haven’t had one. I went with my boyfriend’s(Scottish) family a few times and their Irish friends and it is a good place to hang out. Singing is always going on, which is fun, but also makes you wonder how many people in the bar are way over their limit! Lol. Oh well. It’s a good time if you live real nearby.

Excellent place. I believe the lady to the side is his wife actually, but I’m also not 100% sure. If you want a good bar to go to without all the trendy jerkiness of other places, this is the spot to go to. Great beers, great mixes(who’d have thought an IPA and Guinness would be so awesome) and an awesome place to meet some friends after work. Menu highlights include the fish and chips, drunken chicken(not sure if they serve anymore) and the guinness beef, as well as the beefeater sandwich on lunch special. Been going here since I was able to drink, and will continue to! My absolute favorite bar.

It is strange, but everyone I know raves about this place, the food the beer, the atmosphere and the only way I could agree is if it was in direct contrast to Fertitaville just up the road. On its own, I just think it is a little flat. An OK selection of beers but nothing really special and the food was a strange car crash between Texas fried and English pub boiled. The mixology stuff is completely lost on me, and I am an accomplished beer drinker. Why spoil a medium quality beer with another, or even worse mix crappy cider into it. Between that and the parody of what a British pub should look and feel like, it all seemed a bit forced and not at all worth raving about. I suppose if you want OK food, with OK beer in an OK setting with OK service, this place will suit you just OK.
