This place is excellent. The owners are lovely, the wine is good, and they have live music in the sunshine next to the river on the weekends. How much better can it get? Insider tip: sign up for their wine club for a free meal every quarter.

Living in Bailey, I’ve been to Aspen Peak Cellars many times – most recently last week for a friend’s birthday. While this may not be a «destination restaurant» and will not be as fancy as many of the wineries in Evergreen or Denver(or New Mexico, or along either coast), its genius is in its simplicity and affordability. The wines themselves, none of which are especially complex, are remarkable in how these are easily approachable. Most people will find a wine they can appreciate even if they otherwise are not wine drinkers. The owners and staff are all friendly and helpful, which is a plus for those who are novices. There are a few tables from which to choose inside of the restaurant. Weather permitting, there is some additional outside seating which is also pet-friendly, combined with a live music venue on Saturdays. The menu item is their fondue – when available – and which is absolutely superb.(You will likely want to order extra bread to finish the fondue.) Customers can also pick salamis and various cheeses from their refrigerator by the entrance. The winery frequently offers more formal dinners for various occasions as well as activity dinners, such as snowshoeing along with a fondue dinner. As I haven’t(yet) personally done these, I cannot comment. Please keep in mind, the winery is only open until 5pm and is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. If you are wanting a more formal meal combined with a sophisticated(and expensive) wine, Creekside Cellars in Evergreen would be the ideal choice. If you’re passing through Bailey or otherwise wanting a simple excursion to a friendly little winery by the river, you should come to Aspen Peak Cellars.

Me and my husband recently did the snowshoe event we bought from living social. I was extremely impressed with the customer service and the organization of this event. Sometimes buying from living social can be a hit or miss but for this winery I really want to go back! There were about 30 of us and I was worried it was going to be extremely chaotic. However, everything from beginning to end went exceptionally perfect because they had plenty of staff to handle all of us. They communicated with us so much and I really liked how they were not disorganized or scattered. They knew exactly what to do and when to do it. You get your snowshoes from them and they will help you get them on if you’re not sure. The trail was about a 15 minute drive and once there they let us choose if we wanted to stay on the trail or go off the path. Going off the path was such an incredible experience. Our guide was so knowledgable about the area and trail. It was a bit harder going uphill, just mention to slow down if you need a break. At the top he gave us some hot wine, I was impressed that they even did that for us. After the hike, they let you go down by yourself. It was such a fun experience a bit tiresome but worth it! The snow kept falling from the trees it reminded me of being in a winter wonderland. Getting back to the winery they had the tables all nicely decorated, glad they thought about that detail. And yes enough room for the 30 of us! The staff here are just over the top nice. While we we did the food and wine tasting, the owner did a slide show about pairing wines and gave us information on each wine! It was a great experience because the food went really well with the wine. The wine here is very good. I have been to so many wineries and tons of wine events. But the customer service and the wines are worth the drive. The owners used to be chefs at the Brown Palace hotel, so the fondue is not your average fondue it’s really good! With the fondue they gave us unlimited bread and vegetables to dip. They kept coming to our table and asking how we were and if we wanted anything extra. If you wanted extra wine, they would gladly pour you an extra glass. They even had live music, our guides were the musicians. We ended up buying 4 bottles of wine. It was hard to choose because a lot of their wines are smooth and easy to drink. Overall it was a phenomenal experience and worth our drive. I told my husband it was the best date experience we have had in awhile! Super romantic and really fun. Thanks to the owners for going above and beyond providing the best customer service! You were super sweet, well organized and your wines were really good!

A group of friends and I did the Living Social snowshoe, wine, fondue and music! We had the best day. The guides were helpful and fun, the snowshoe was incredibly enjoyable. We loved the wine tasting, the fondue, and the music! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. It was a great way to spend the day, I will definitely check out some of their other events!

My boyfriend and I went to Aspen Peak Cellars using the Living Social deal for snowshoe and fondue and had one of our most«Colorado experiences» ever. And that’s coming from two natives! The couple that owns the winery go above and beyond to make sure everyone has a nice time. The wine is great, the fondue is delicious and the food pairing we got during the wine tasting was delicious. The snowshoe guides were super friendly and allowed everyone to snowshoe at their own pace. We brought our dog with us and she had a blast running around in all the snow! I would definitely recommend hitting Aspen Peak Cellars up if you’re driving through Bailey. We will be back!

Lived in Pine for 2 years. Finally went today to hear a friend sing. The Merlot was great! Awesome service and quaint atmosphere. Will be back often and will bring my inlaws over Xmas. Don’t be afraid to try it. It’s great!

Just your average winery, nothing great. The wine was average as well. Not a place I would make a special trip for nor the wine.

We were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this winery during our camping trip in Pike National Forest. Great tasting, full bodied wines– the proprietor was very knowledgeable and friendly. We bought 6 bottles, but will definitely come back for more! Highly recommended after visiting at least a dozen wineries in the greater Denver area.

I love this winery! We found them through a groupon in the beginning of the year — fondu, snowshoe and wine! It was an amazing adventure, but the mulled wine at the top of the hike was fabulous — and they even share the recipe! After tromping back down, you drive back to the winery to enjoy your fondu and wine tasting. They take you through almost all of their varietals! Delish! We got a case, signed up for the wine club and couldn’t be happier! Each quarter they host a wine club dinner — so whatever level you have signed up for you get that many bottles of wine and dinner for 1 or 2. Now onto the wines: Bailey Barberean — love this wine! If you barbera’s — yum Conifer red — yums 285 Fusion — combo of a couple other wines — delish Strawbery rose — great summer wine — serve ice cold Pomegranate rouge — great in the mulled wine and as is Mocha zinsation — great way to end a meal! Reisling — a good choice too! Cab Sauv — also a nice wine and drinkable!

I went in Wed, the 27th of may to get a bottle of wine for my wife. She is pretty picky about her wines so I asked Marcel to recommend one to her. He said the pomegranate will be the winner. I took it home to my wife and I will say Marcel hit a home run!!! Ill be back for more! Thanks again, and I highly recommend The Aspen Peak Cellars to all! Josh and Jeni Smith Bailey, CO

Delicious wine, friendly staff, and the show shoe hike was fun. We bought a groupon for a wine tasting and show shoe tour – overall we are pleased. The only negative thing was that the snow shoe trip could have been done somewhere prettier(it was just on some private property that felt like someone’s backyard). The servings of wine during the tasting were generous and the fondue was DELICIOUS.

This is by far my favorite winery in Colorado! Not only are the wines delicious but everyone here is so incredibly friendly. I first found this place two years ago after doing a snowshoe, fondue, and wine living social(they still do it for anyone that’s interested). After a long two hours of snowshoeing we came back to Aspen Peak Cellars for fondue and wine. All of the wines here are incredible, you can tell by the amount of awards they have won. My favorites include the strawberry rose and the Pomegrante rouge. Both are on the lighter side but they are delicious as is or you can add them to other drinks(think strawberry rose in your summer margarita, it’s heaven). Not only are all of their wines incredibly cheap to begin with but they will discount them the more you buy. My only complaint is that they don’t ship outside of Colorado, all of my out of state friends wish this were different. If you’re in the mood for a tour they give a great one! If you’re in for some fondue that is some seriously amazing fondue!

What a cool couple(the owners). Bailey doesn’t have much goin’ on, but this winery is amazing. The wine is great, the food, amazing. We were there for a snowshoe, fondue wine tasting and OMG. We bought a case, and joined their wine club. Such good stuff

It’s so nice to have a winery in our town. Who would of thought a winery in Bailey, CO! One of the great things about the winery is that you can order a tasting of 5 – 6 wines and it’s only $ 5.00. If you’re passing through Bailey on 285 be sure you check them out. It’s a great place to take a break on your way up or down the mountain.

A friend and I made a day of winery visits and this was the first. It was a great find off of HW285 in Bailey… although, a bit hard to find if you use a GPS. If you are coming form Denver or east of Bailey, be sure to go all they way into Bailey rather than stopping at the winery and bed and breakfast. The tasting room is quaint and the fondue was delicious… cheesy and rich… just the way I like it! The owners were wonderful and welcoming and gave us a great tour of the barrels. The wine was ok. I am by no means a wine conosure, but some of it was just not taht good. I did buy a bottle of their Conifer Red. This was good and made up for the not so good wine! I would go again!

Marcel and Julie are awesome people! Marcel makes some great wine! If you are new to the wine world or don’t know exactly what you like, try Aspen Peak Cellars wines. They are all very easy to drink, not big and bold like some wines. These wines go well alone or with food! Their Tasting Room is awesome! Kelly does a great job behind the bar! I love these guys… Go and see them!

What a great find! This place is worth the drive. We loved every wine we tried. The antipasto platter was amazing, filled with many different cheeses, prosciutto, salami, olives and pepperocini. The winery itself was brand new and there was no skimping on the details. I especially loved the large sliding wooden barn doors separating the different rooms. The owners were so pleasant to talk to. They go the extra mile to make sure you are enjoying yourself.

SO fantastic. Those are the words I kept thinking to myself and later saying to The Dude after we left Aspen Peak Cellars Winery. We got to experience something a little different, as today was their first day being open at their brand new(bigger!) location. From what we gathered, they used to be housed out of their B&B and Bistro up 285, but have basically outgrown it, so they’re doing their fermenting, barreling, and bottling out of this new location. Part grand opening(Sabrage of APC’s own Champagne), part regular tasting experience(as they foresee it going), it was really special to be a part of, even if it was somewhat serendipitous. We were given a tour of the space, which for right now was pretty empty but I suspect in the future will have much more wine production set-ups happening. Still, the space is beautiful and location is perfect(literally just off 285). The tasting room itself is small, with two four-top tables(made from old wine barrels – how cool!) and a bar top. One of the owners said they have plans for a patio and picnic tables down by the river a little closer to summer time. Spectacular little touches – the tables made from wine barrels, the bar top filled with strategically placed wine corks under glass, the copper art on the wall – all brought it together as a new, exciting addition to the little town of Bailey. Our tasting consisted of three whites(Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, and Reisling-type), three reds(Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, and Cab-Sav), and a strawberry Rose. It was accompanied with antipasto: baguette, breadsticks, cheeses, salamis, and olives/artichoke hearts/roasted peppers. For all the wines we tasted, there was something(if not a couple of things) on the antipasto board to pair it with. And the most noteworthy observation: there wasn’t a wine we tried that we didn’t like. Not saying Dude and I are raging alcoholics or anything, but we’ve done other tastings where we taste some that range from«meh» in reaction to «ew no». Marcel, one of the owners, said they make wines to drink, not to be stored. Not that there is anything wrong with aging wines, but the wines from APC are drinkable right then, which itself is a marketable, sell-able quality I feel. I liked the Cab-Sav Reserve so much I purchased a bottle(it is some seriously smooth wine); the Rose was good and made me think, «this is a mother-in-law wine» due to its sweetness(haha!). The Reisling-type will likely be the one I go for when we visit over the summer. Because we will be visiting over the summer :) The location of the tasting room is right off 285, and sits just up from the river. It would be the perfect stop between a day of enjoying Colorado summer(hiking, biking, kayaking) and making it back«down the hill» to Denver(not overdoing it on the booze, mind you). In addition to us, there were two other couples who came by who live in the area and frequent the B&B(previous winery location), so they were in the know already about the wines and the owners and the town(of Bailey) itself. Regardless of the pre-existing relationships, Marcel brought Dude and I right in and made us feel at home. It was a really neat opportunity to experience the continuation of a dream(because really – making wine in the mountains is living a dream), and to learn the story behind all this. We also learned that APC will have several more events throughout the winter, but it sounds like the real fun begins when the weather warms up. I almost don’t want to share the secret of this little spot, but after our visit today(and to their B&B), I wish nothing but the best and 100% success for them – which means getting the word out! So do visit. Sip, savor, repeat. Enjoy the wine, the setting, the salami and cheese. Enjoy supporting a truly local business, but more importantly a dream come true for Aspen Peak Cellars’ family.
