THe only take out chicken I would drive across state lines for… thank god they have one relatively close to my house. The chicken here is the best there is simply no other way to describe it. I love the chicken here and couldn’t function without it! The skin here is golden brown and delicious. The batter is gossamer thin and seals the meat in so that it will not get dry. Simply the greatest chicken ever. The selling point here is that when people would go and visit central america, they wouldn’t bring back souvenirs they would bring back boxes of Pollo Campero… go and get this now Cheers!

The chicken is OK !!! The customer service its the worst i have ever experienced, theyre rude, rushy, give a weird look when youre ordering, this place looked better when they first open all these new changes to the menu and the restaurant itself makes it even worst ! I’m in and out whenever i have NO other options for pollo

La comida tiene buen sabor, la yuca frita bien tostada, lo único como pasan tan ocupados hay que esperar un rato en fila para ordenar.

Really good food for the price you pay. I went there two nights ago and really liked the service, remind you that this is a fast food place however they have a lady who cleans tables but also brings out food. She checks on you and makes sure you’re doing well — her service is better than some nice sit down restaurants. I’d recommend if you’re in the area and craving some deep fried chicken. Good stuff!

*Cue Joey Tribbiani’s voice* The chicken? Goood. The chicken sandwich? Goood. The empanadas? Goood. The yucca? Goood. The wait time? Ehh. 5 stars for the food for hitting the spot every time. –1 star for taking so long to get through the line, and wait for the food(patience is a virtue that I do not have).

I LOVE the fried chicken! I always go with dark meat(leg and thigh) and is consistently crisp and juicy. The only reason I didn’t go for 5 stars is that the fries were a bit soggy. I also tried the mild empanada and it was pretty good.

The chicken has never disappointed. I always get the half chicken special bc i get the best of both worlds– the grilled and fried plus 2 sides for about $ 8. My son and i split it making this one of my favorite places because its cheap, good, good service and place is always clean. Cant get better than that

Love the chicken and sides at Pollo Campero. Chicken is always fresh and the rice and beans are flavorful. Salsa bar is the bomb and service is always friendly. The lines can be long; but have patience and your tastebuds will rewarded.

I’ve seen their TV commercials back in the day and I’ve passed by their store numerous times while driving down Columbia Pike, but this was my first time trying their chicken. Overall, thoroughly impressed and satisfied with a fulfilling meal! I came here at the end of a long weekend for a late dinner with my boyfriend. The wait for orders seemed unusually long for 8:30PM, but the line moved speedily and most of the people before us were just ordering out or picking up orders. My boyfriend and I ordered the 8-Piece Grilled Chicken Meal(with dark meat only) and an individual order of Yuca Fries(came up to about $ 15). We decided to stay in and we sat near the front window of the restaurant. Overall, there is plenty of seating(small tables, booths, larger tables for families) and the restaurant was pretty clean for the end of the day. After waiting maybe 10 minutes, a server brought out our order to our table and we dug in. The chicken was delicious! As far as fast food outlets go, I definitely prefer Campero over KFC or Popeye’s. The meat tasted fresh(not frozen) and flavorful and the skin was especially well seasoned with a mix of herbs and spices. Because we ordered grilled chicken, the meat wasn’t overly oily or heavy. The yuca fries were crisp on the outside(not oily at all) and starchy/soft on the inside. They paired great with the complimentary dipping sauce. As for service, I think some people may be deterred since the store seems to cater to a Spanish-speaking clientele. Don’t be! The cashier who took our order was most definitely proficient in English(plus the menu is entirely in English) and the server who brought out our food was the sweetest can be. I definitely give them great kudos on providing quick and warm service even in a fast food setting. Pollo Campero satisfied my chicken craving with flying colors and I definitely want to return to try their fried variety(and also the bevy of other sides and meals).

Chicken was amazing! But if you’ve had the original pollo Campero in Central America, this won’t compare. You could taste the oil, and unfortunately it tasted like it needed replacing… On the bright side Service was awesome

I really wanted to like this place because I had such a great experience at the Unilocal Pollo Campero event. The service at that Unilocal event was amazing!!! The staff was so friendly at the event. At the Unilocal event, I won a gift certificate for two free personal meals. I was excited to try Pollo Campero again, bc I really thought the food was good(especially like the fried chicken and yuca) after my first experience. So I went to get takeout on a Thursday evening, and the place had some customers, but was not very busy. There was one only cashier, so I waited a few minutes before being able to order — which is totally fine. I don’t mind waiting at all, but what I did mind was that the cashier was so rude. I showed her the voucher, and wanted to confirm what I would be able to order. She acted mad that I had the gift certificate. She was in a huff about having to check with the manager, which I don’t really understand why that would be my fault. I didn’t mind waiting, and when she came back to the cash register, she just started angrily tapping some buttons and swiping cards. I was so confused because I was really being polite. When she did take the order, she didn’t even ask us if we wanted tortilla or the rolls, and assumed that I wanted rolls(but I really wanted the tortilla). Anyway, the fried chicken is pretty tasty. I wouldn’t mind trying the place again, but was put off by that experience.

Muy Delicioso. I’d had take-out Pollo Campero before, but had never sat down to eat there. I love the vibrant colors they have, and the new logo looks fresh. I ordered the ¼ chicken with yuca and a cuatros leches. The chicken was flavored wonderfully, and the yuca are so much more satisfying than run of the mill fries. I chose horchata as my drink. Normally it’s too sweet for me and I have to drink water on the side, but this one was well balanced. It’s a great chain. The prices are decent, and the only issue I’d have is that if you go to an independent chicken joint anywhere in Northern VA(Super Pollo ftw), you’ll usually get a giant chunk of chicken and a splattering of sides for the exact same price. If portion control is really important to you though, then it might be better that Pollo Campero gives a reasonable plate of food.

So ordered the sampler. There is a big difference between the grilled and fried chicken. Simply put… dont waste your time on the grilled chicken. The fried chicken is great and I would dare say better than kfc and Popeye. The chicken fell off the bone amd wasnl extremely moist. I got yucca and plantains as my sides. Both were amazingly soft and moist correctly. All 3 drinks were good. I recommend the Jamaica(I am sure I spelled that wrong). Now the trick is to see if my return visit will be this good or if I just got lucky.

This place sucks. There was only 3 customers when I arrived. I kept seeing them put out fresh chicken wondering why when there wasn’t really anyone there. Had the grilled and fried chicken with coleslaw and yucca. Asked for tortilla but when my order was ready I got the«oh we no have, we give bun. That bun was dry and inedible. When I got home I realized they gave me the old nasty chicken thats been sitting around for who knows how long. It was luke warm and dry. The coleslaw was some of the worst I’ve had. The yucca and special sauce was actually good, but not great. I remember years ago when they first opened how delicious the chicken was. Well thats not the case at this location anymore. Might try a different location in the future.

I had the 2 piece fried chicken(dark meat, of course) with rice and horchata. Total was about 7.70. Overall, the chicken was juicy and crunchy, just how fried chicken should be. There is something a bit different about this than other fried chicken, but I’ll have to go again to determine that. The rice was nice. The horchata was good too; sweet and sandy cinnamon without being overwhelming. I seemed to be the only non-latino person there, but that’s okay; makes it more legit! I would definitely come back here. or another pollo campero. Parking out front is a bit weird since there are no lines, but just imagine slanted parking spots and you’ll be fine.

Seriously the worst customer service ever, the cashier named Karla is rude and doesn’t even say hi and then I had to wait for my food forever truly sucks. I have always came here to eat but never have gotten such worse service to he honest. The manager in the other hand was delightful and attentive.

I am a fan a bit of Pollo Campero cause contrary to other fast food chicken joints, I find the chicken here not as greasy(not that sometimes there’s anything wrong with that, sometimes you want a giant piece of lard and grease), and also not as salty compared to KFC or Popeyes. This location is apparently also the first one that arrived in the DC Area, and back in the day, the Pollo Campero locations would have huge lines out the door. Now those days are long gone with other locations all around and waits are never a problem. I still would rather have a decent Pollo La Brassa, but this is what it is. THe sides also are much more enjoyable, with perhaps the exception that the fried yuca is a mash potato like mush. I would prefer it had some bite to it. The pink dipping sauce is also a let down, basically it is an overly sweetened version of Thousand Island dressing, which is a big dissapointment. However, the sides are solid. Black Beans are hearty, the slaw is enjoyable, and so are the plantains. It’s nice to grab some Campero and change it up once in awhile.
