This is one of my favorite stores in Bakersfield– no joke. It’s close to where I live, staff is always friendly, lines are never too long, and if they start to get that way, they always open another register. They have a huge selection of products and the store is always clean, too. I wouldn’t recommend coming here after dark just due to the crowd that tends to hang around here during that time… Being that it IS a discount store located in Oildale.(That’s nothing they can control and I’m definitely not going to let that change my impression of this awesome store.) I’m very grateful for this store where I pay ¼ to ½ of the price of what I would pay for items at Walmart Market and wait about 1⁄16 of the time I would at WM also. The store manager seriously deserves a raise.(And no I have no idea who that person is– just saying– it is that great!)

I cannot begin to say how thankful I am that countless times I have walked into this store and have been able to purchase Gluten free bread and other Gluten free items for a dollar. Having to feed someone with a gluten allergy can get expensive, about 6.00 and other grocery stores for the same loaf of bread or the same 4 bagels you get here. They sometimes do run out of this type of product that why I stock up and fill my freezer when I get it!

We go to the 99 Cent store to get fruit snacks for the kids. I get the air fresheners for my house, the ones you plug in for about $ 2 instead of $ 4.99 at other stores. We always leave out of there for around $ 200. We go up and down every aisle getting everything from soda to outdoor solar lights. I saw those at Target today and they were $ 3 apiece. Love this store, just bathrooms gross. They need to keep on bathroom(no toilet covers) everything else nice

Go in here every week. They have pretty good products that you can’t beat for a buck! I have no complaints!

You just cant beat a .99 cents store, unless you are given good service as well as low prices like this store. I love the clerks and the workers are always friendly and helpful(even the guy that collects the carts in the parking lot… he is such a sweetheart. very helpful) and the store is clean and well stocked and did I mention the prices? omg! I love it!

I’ve got a confession: I’m a cheapskate. I really hate to pay $ 1.29 for something when I know I can find it elsewhere for a buck. So, when I run into ever inflating prices for stuff at other stores, I turn to the $ 0.9999 store to fill that cheap hole in my heart. This place has quite a large selection of random stuff. It’s basically a mini-Wal-Mart of things that cost $ 0.9999. As with most dollar stores, quality and value definitely varies, but it’s a risk you take and consider when buying things here(or at least I do). Like considering the fact that you’ll have to wait 30 seconds for the CFL bulbs you buy here to reach full brightness, but that you’ll be saving probably about $ 2/bulb. Is it worth it? I’d say so, but that choice isn’t for everyone, or every room. They have a large grocery section here as well(even a mini produce section too), but the prices on these aren’t always the greatest. The big can of hominy I bought was at least $ 2 cheaper than Vons, but the 59 cent canned green beans can’t beat the 25 – 33 cent ones at WinCo. So, even while shopping the 99.99 cent store, there’s definitely reason to consider prices. But, overall, this is a still a great place to find that random cheap thing you’re looking for, and that everywhere else has raised the price on. For me, I pass it on my way back from the Rosedale Hwy stores, so I always stop in when the bigger retailers disappoint me with prices. I definitely recommend this place over the Dollar Tree just a couple blocks away. The 99 Cent Only store has much better selection. But most importantly to all the cheapskates out there: every item here is $ 0.0001 less than Dollar Tree! ;-)

I love to frequent 99 Cent and Dollar Stores to pick up supplies for my classroom. Not only can I pick up office supplies here, but they have a large number of little toys for the prize box in my kindergarten classroom, particularly if you’re willing to think outside the box. Not only do my students like the toys, they love to find balloons, shells, and hair barrettes, but they also love the little bottles of bubbles that are packaged for weddings. Yeah, they carry aisles full of the cheap crap that five year olds adore, but they carry so much more than that. This store carries a wide variety of seasonal items for Valentines Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas to name a few. I find a lot of these trinkets work well not just for prize box treasures but also to decorate secret pal gifts for work. For those celebrating holidays or throwing parties they carry gift bags, bows, wrap, greeting cards, and cups and plates in a variety of colors and themes. You’ll never again spend $ 3.99 on a gift bag at Target or Walmart when you can get adorable ones here for $.99. For a long time I avoided these kinds of stores assuming that they only carried inferior off-brands, but this is not the case. Here I found Goody hair products, Ajax cleaner, Celeste Pizza for one, Tony’s frozen pizza, Hot Pockets, Dole packaged lettuce, pints of strawberries, Healthy Choice canned soup, Hunts canned tomatoes, Duncan Hines cupcake mix, and all kinds of other well known brand names. Don’t even get me started on the candy. Regular sized candy bars are $.59, but boxed candy is $.99 and they carry Butterfinger, Snickers, Hershey cookies and cream, 100 Grand Bars, Skittles, Hot Tamales, Sweetarts, M&M’s; you name it, they probably carry it. This is a great place to pick up cheap office/school supplies, housewares, plastic food storage containers, all kinds of products you use on a daily basis at deeply discounted prices. I save a ton just on cleansers and the lady who cleans my house and is very particular about the cleaning products, has never said boo. MIKEYLIKESIT! (If you understand THAT reference you must be an old fart like me)
