I have never been to a range and this was a lot of fun! They have different speeds for the balls — the lowest which I did was 30MPH. Bring quarters you will need them it is 50 cents for your balls I think 15 come out. They also have a bat that is metal for you to use. I will be coming back it was a fun workout. :)

Alright people come on. This is the Bakersfield Batting range and there are 4 reviews? 80% of the clubs and leagues bring themselves or kids here. We have to promote one of the treasures of Bakersfield. The rentals are a bargain we all know that. The hours are perfect. The snack bar is there as a convince not to gouge you for snacks. This place is home were most of us grew up swinging away. And now we are back with our kids giving them expert instruction. Bakersfield, check in and let them know what you think.

I have been going here since I was a kid. I now take my daughter for practice since she is in a softball league. The staff is very friendly. Just a good place to relax and hangout.

When it comes to Batting ranges this place truly lives up to the five star«Woohoo! As good as it gets!» Unilocal!rating. Your other options are limited, less reliable, more expensive and lack the character of this fixture just outside Sam Lynn Ballpark. I have frequented the Bakersfield Batting Range for about 20 years now and I can honestly say not much has changed(which is great!). The original couple that owned the place were the most underpaid babysitters I ever had! I would spend hours there before a Blaze game; swinging away with my imagination hard at work. From one day to the next it was Nolan Ryan, Orel Hershiser or Randy Johnson releasing the dimpled yellow ball my way so I could send it 60 feet into the opposing net(they were always home runs). Some of my best memories of the batting range involve the voices of Vin Scully and Rick Monday over the loud speakers painting a perfect picture of big leauge baseball while I took a crack at my own Chester Avenue dreams. For 50 cents you can step into the cage, become a kid again and dream big in one of Bakersfield’s best preserved sports facilities.

I don’t know all that much about batting cages in general. I mean I’m familiar with what they do and yes I have used them from time to time but I don’t know what drives people to open one. There is something wholesome and antiquated about them. Usually they’re coin operated which is already something of an outdated concept. The Bakersfield Batting Range has been here as long as I have been in Bakersfield and seem an inherent part of the landscape, that being said I enjoyed myself there recently. I haven’t in a long time. It was fun to get out there and try to hit a 80 mph pitch to no avail as it reminds me why I haven’t gotten any calls from sports agents yet. The people working there and playing there were all relaxed and seemed to bask in the Americana of it all. My only complaint is that this is an outdoor cage and sometimes that is at odds with the Bakersfield summer sun.

This batting range, located right next to Sam Lynn ball park, has been a fixture in Bakersfield for nearly 40 years. Happily, it retains its retro charm after all these years and is a fantastic place to hang out in the summer. The property is extremely well maintained, clean, and safe. There are 15 cages all together – 9 baseball and 6 softball. The cages are 50 cents for 13 pitches, bats and helmets are supplied. They also do hourly rentals and birthday parties. There is also a fantastic snack bar with very reasonably-priced goodies if you get hungry after hitting all those balls. I had a great time hanging out there tonight and really think it’s one of the coolest things to do in Bakersfield. Highly recommended! Note: Bakersfield Batting Range is only open in the spring and summer – usually from February to September.
