Chen Orthodontics

Dr. Jerry Chen is a very passionate, caring, and informative orthodontist. I was unfortunate to start wearing braces at 21 years of age. He told me all of the pros and cons of having braces at a later age but I was ready to go. I was amazed and surprised at the care he took to carefully mold my teeth to how they are now. He also gives you all of the options you have and gives his professional opinion about it. Then he lets you decide what you want to do.
All in all, he is a great person and I definitely recommend getting braces from him!

Since noticing that Akad Orthodontics is closed, I decided to write a new review for Chen Orthodontics. The same practice, headed by Dr Jerry Chen.
I completed my 18 months of braces over two years ago and Dr Chen took over the practice a few months after. I saw him a couple times to check over my retainer. During this period, I had some straight, beautiful teeth.
After losing my retainer recently and loosening my bottom permanent one, a visit was sorely needed. I was curious to see how much the place had changed since Dr Akad, and upon entering, it was nice to see that it hasn’t. The office has stayed in the same décor since. It’s a humble size with a small waiting room and a moderately sized patient room. The tray of chocolate chip cookies and coffee is still there, but now there’s a new touch screen check in monitor.
I had an appointment early in the morning (generally, you wait less than if you had a 3−5pm one) and was called right on time.
The orthodontists are very skillful. Many of them are from the old practice which is comforting, knowing that the quality of the orthodontists has not substantially changed. One of the orthodontists took a mold of my teeth for a new retainer. She cemented my bottom retainer back on (for no additional cost).
Afterwards, Dr. Chen checked over everything. He’s a great orthodontist and a really nice guy. You can have a good conversation with him– well when your mouth isn’t full. I’m generally terrified of anyone putting anything in my mouth, dentists and orthodontists alike, but he’s great. He’s just as accomplished of a orthodontist as his predecessor. After his okay I was sent back up front to wait 40 minutes for my new retainer. They use the plastic clear molded ones, rather than the unattractive metal wire ones. I was pleased with it and the fair price.
Overall, my experience was as good as an orthodontist trip could be. If you were a fan of Dr Akad Baker, you’ll be more than satisfied with Dr Jerry Chen, who’s skilled and professional in his own right. I’d put up a pic of my teeth, but sadly, due to 3 weeks without a retainer, they have lapsed somewhat. Still the new retainer they made for me should prevent further relapse. So if you have some crooked teeth that need braces, Invisalign, etc, I definitely recommend this place. Just remember to always wear your retainer, or else you’ll be back 2 years later.
