Waste of a trip

I love this shop, it’s a hidden gem! Chuck is always so willing to order what he doesn’t have and has a good stock of everything else. He also sells gift certificates if you’re looking for a quick gift for someone! Every time I go in, Chuck makes every effort to make sure my boyfriend gets what he came for. He even has stuff for little kids.
Keep it mind, it is super hidden. The building doesn’t have a visible sign showing the name, but when you find it is does have a glowing open sign. Don’t miss it!

My buddies and I had driven up from L.A. for a comic convention. Once we were done, we had some time to kill so we decided to hit up a local shop. We found Darkside! Small shop, tucked away in an industrial/​warehouse park. Many back issues in stock of stuff that’s fairly hard to find in The LA area. This was the one shop out of 20 or so we surveyed who still had a copy of Edge of the Spider-​verse 2. That heavily sought after first appearance of Spider-​Gwen. My buddy and I bought two copies a piece! Chuck was really nice and helpful. Will definitely stop in again next time we’re in the area!

I’m newer to collecting comics and decided to go here on my day off last week, I believe it was Thursday the 5^th and met Chuck. I had originally called to find out exactly where they were located because I couldn’t find their suite. Chuck actually came outside and showed me where they were located so I was able to easily find them. After that me and my wife went inside and checked out their selection (which was pretty decent by the way!) and Chuck was very personable and extremely helpful in guiding us along trying to find out what would suit us (the newcomers) the best. He gave me tons of information and also is ordering some back issues of some Wonder Woman Comics for my wife and some Batman ones for myself, I really appreciate all that Chuck did to make us feel welcome and I believe I will definitely be coming back here for many years to come. Thanks again! Highly recommended.

I’ve been coming here for years, definitely the best place to get comics in Bakersfield.

Just went into this place today and loved it! Chuck is a really awesome, down to earth guy. Every time I go to Bakersfield I will definitely make a stop here.

Not a good place to shop. Rude, unhelpful clerks. Poor selection of older books and you get dirty looks if you about anything outside of newer stuff. All the «new» comics I did buy had spine creases and wrinkled pages when I took them out of the bags to read.

Really Great Comic Shop And Amazing Customer Service.

They are NOT in East Hills Mall… they are in the southwest, on District Blvd, between Ashe and Stine. If they don’t have something you are looking for, they are willing to order stuff, you can get subscriptions, and they will even look for back issues… just talk to Chuck!

Outstanding service and a great selection. If they don’t have it in stock, they will try to get it for you. Chuck has a scored several back issues for me.

This has got to be the best place to get comics in Bakersfield! Go in, say «Hi!» to Chuck and peruse through new books, old books, trade paperbacks and find some stuff you might never had heard of or thought to read. The owner is typically there and takes care of everyone. I’ve never gotten the level of quality service from ANY type of book store whether it’s a magazine stand or a Borders.
Go in a couple times, but definitely expect to start coming in regularly and you’ll see the type of personalized service you can’t find anywhere else!
