I made my 1st appointment in July 2015 for my sister’s wedding and was very pleased with the cut by hair stylist Norra. I returned in January 2016 for a trim. You know you have a good thing going when you can wait for 6 months to go back for a trim. Norra did a great job and was very friendly and helpful. My 2nd appointment in January, I had to wait a few minutes but was pleasantly surprised to be able to get 2 free services: a brief neck/shoulder massage by Lynette and a great cup of tea. I thought the 2 free services was only for our 1st time visit, but it’s for each time you go. Amazing! The salon was busy but not too busy and unlike some salons I’ve been to, there wasn’t a lot of backstabbing and gossiping among the employees(which is common). I am a fan and will continue to return to Norra and Aveda Salon & Spa. Wish I could afford the monthly membership but being on a fixed income, it’s beyond my ability to do so right now. If I were working full-time, I would definitely take advantage. As it is, I am semi-retired and stay at home, so the need to look my best isn’t as important as it is when you are out there every day at work. Take a chance and check out this place! My hair cut was a little pricey $ 45, but not really when you take into account the great service and extra benes like the neck/shoulder massage!

Loved it! Jay was fun to talk to and did an amazing job with my color! So many compliments from random people on my hair! He definitely knows what he is doing and I would recommend him to anyone who asks me for the best hair stylist in Bakersfield! I’m so happy! Thanks again to the super friendly staff

I went to try out the hair services here on a less busy weekday and the end results were good! The girls were nice here, talented. I felt well taken care of in the chair and the clientele was very friendly. I like that you can have a drink with services and there are a few little extras to enjoy as a first timer like the neck massage(very light on the pressure, short in duration) and arm massage(excellent pressure by another gal, also short) I have seen cleaner salons but no major complaints — they are going through renovations right now. I was taken in right away with a smile but it was with someone for a haircut. No wash(I had just done this at home) and no style after as I was going straight to the colorist… who I assumed was doing everything for me. So, that quick trim was $ 45 plus tip I found out later at the register. Plus $ 100 for color. $ 30 in tips. I was out $ 175 minus the 10% Unilocal check in credit. More than I had ever paid before, ever! I was standing there a bit confused but someone behind me was waiting to pay for something so I needed to move it. Came home not feeling too thrilled with the financial part of it but management later reached out and credited me back a bit of cash. I had never been to a salon where they separate services among 2 staff members and charge you twice in the same visit. I did learn though that are working on streamlining the services so that this does not happen to anyone anymore.

I went and tried this place for the first time yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. I have driven by this place so many times and never knew how much greatness was happening behind those doors! I was sent a reminder text to confirm my appointment about 2 days before, which is great for my forgetful mind! I was greated immediately upon walking in and was offered a beverage while I waited to be called back. The girl up front noticed me looking at the products and came over and explained some of the poducts that they had available. The girl who did my hair was named Kresa and she was amazing! Not only was she really easy to talk to but she really knew what she was talking about. She had a lot of knowledge about the products and I wasn’t scared that she was gonna mess up my hair! In the end it was even better than I could have expected. All in all a good experience, looks like they are in the process of remodeling. My phone died while I was there so a better selection of magazines would have been nice.

I am completely out of my element when it comes to beauty products, make up, etc. But I went I Aveda in hope to get some guidance and I was beyond thrilled with my experience! I got lucky enough to get Loli as my teacher! She was so sweet and gave the exact look I was going for, which was a more natural look. She was so thorough with explaining what she was doing & making sure I understood everything. The whole experience was so personable. I didn’t catch the girls name that was at the front desk, but she was so sweet & had remembered me from the week before when I walked in to schedule my appointment. My experience was so great & recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Greedy, over priced, unprofessional, and unhealthy environment. I hate to post on here but how else will the world know what really goes on in this work place. Do not let this place fool you. used to work there then I left(as well as all the other great employees) and they told all my clients I moved out of bakersfield. There was hope when there was good management for a short period of time and even the good management was run out by a toxic atmosphere. This place is absolutely great the stylists are very nice and when they saw I was not completely satisfied with my first blowout they offered me a second one free and Tawnie did my hair the second time It came out so nice and bouncy she TRULY did an amazing job she listened and understood how to do my hair so it wouldn’t come out stiff and I will be returning for more hair care. :)

The stylists are always friendly and courteous. I like that they offer you a drink like ice water or tea, sometimes even mimosas! I don’t care too much for the«extras» that you get with a hair cut, such as the aroma therapy or hand massage, but you can just pass on those items. Their prices are reasonable, and I’ve always liked my hair when I walk out! They have great products too.

I’ve gone to this Aveda Salon off-on for a couple of yrs,(but had gone to Essentials since 2006). I needed color and Caneel wasn’t available. I was so disappointed in my colorist. She did not want to highlight my hair with a color because I had damaged ends, although I explained the ends can be trimmed. While she did excellent at covering the gray, the highlights were only a whopping shade lighter. I advised her not to leave color on too long as my hair grabs red and suggested she find my card and find the colors. Nope. Wanted eyebrows tinted. Now instead of dark brown they are auburn with emphasis on more red than brown. Had brows waxed also. They are unshaped and uneven. Maybe folks were having an off day because it was Saturday but I will prob try again. I absolutely miss Becca and Azure

I have to say I really love the energy of this place. Everyone really helps each other out. I went in yesterday for a men’s haircut and was seen by Katherine. She asked me what I would like for her to do. I told her to do whatever she feels will look amazing. I’m not a big haircut fan, takes a very impressive haircut to really rally me up. I’ve got to say though, I’m not sure how she works her magic, but she does. She was able to find a style that not only was I ok with, but actually completely shifted my entire energy and awareness to embody and radiate self confidence. These people are literally artists who help your body express what needs to be expressed. Such an empowering environment. I am glad I had the opportunity to not only get an awesome haircut, but to firsthand experience the passion these woman put into their artworks. It really changed how I viewed the entire process of getting a haircut. I was captivated by the attention to detail Katherine had taken. I was actually bittersweet when her artwork was complete. I Can’t wait to come back and experience it all over again. I Would definitely recommend for everyone to give Aveda a shot. You will not be disappointed.

The customer service was«there.» Staff was«nice» and they offer a lot of free extras such as a drink while you wait, a choice between a free massage, chakra cleansing, etc on your first time. I give them 2 stars because of the quality of haircut I received. While my stylist was nice, it wasn’t worth the $ 35 I paid for. She just trimmed the side and snipped the top a bit. Which could’ve been done anywhere else. In addition to the questionable quality of service I received, the pricing was outrageous. The website stated it was $ 20 for a men’s haircut, but it also stated it was: $ 20 for a junior stylist, $ 30 senior, and so on and so forth. They charged me $ 30 without giving a choice of the type of stylist I would be getting. In addition to the pricing, I wasn’t notified that I could recieve a discount for checking in on Unilocal or making a positive feedback either. In the end, I paid $ 35(just to be polite) for a less than mediocre haircut. Would I recommend? No. I would go somewhere else. Personally, after reading all these reviews and having someone mention that they offer discounts for positive feedback, you kind of have to question the quality of service if such incentive exists.

I will never shop here again!!! Their return policy is horrible!!! Before you buy anything make sure you love all their product because they will only give you store credit. They should make that cleared before you spend your money with them!!! From here on out my makeup will be purchase else where!!!

Just moving to Bako, I really wanted to find a salon that I could get a nice cut and color along with feel pampered. Aveda did just that. I got an ombré color with Canill and a layered cut with Tawnie. The girls were really warm and fun to chat with too! They even offer mimosas on the daily. I passed and had a calming tea instead but maybe next time. My only complaint was that the assistant was a little harsh on brushing my hair out. Teasing is needed to make the ombré more natural looking and the assistant started at my roots and worked down instead of starting at my ends and working through them and then doing the top. It hurt and my scalp was sore. Other than that, I had a fantastic experience and will be back! Thank you Aveda!

I have been in contact with the salon(including my colorist), and they have definitely exceeded in customer service and helping me to receive a better experience with my next visit. Long story short – on June 20th, I did not get the considerate and professional service I had previously experienced over the past year. My stylist was aware of a 1hr block between my cut and highlight sessions, but failed to give me prior notice before I got there and even before my cut. I tried to be understanding, but they exaggerated on how quickly they’d get back to doing my highlights. After an hour of frustration I knew better, as this is not how one should be treated for professional service. I ended up leaving early and will likely never return. They seemed to be indifferent of my wasted time.

I’ve been going to Aveda for 4 years now and this is my only and favorite place to get my hair done! When i get a haircut I usually get it done from Kathryn, shes absolutely awesome! And when I get my hair colored i go to Katie, she is so talented! Plus I love the complimentary services, you can’t ever go wrong with one

I am not a salon type of girl but I think I am now! I received a complimentary arm massage and aromatherapy as well as wine before my actual hair appointment. Then I met Misty who gave me something better than what I wanted. I thought I wanted ombré but she added some balayage so it came out more natural looking. I will definitely be coming here for my future hair coloring needs.

I got a massage and facial here and it felt luxurious and relaxing. The facial with Claudia was gentle. I have sensitive skin and some estheticians have felt it leaving dried and raw, yuck! Claudia was gentle and was good about recommending Aveda products suitable for my skin. The massage with Jane was so luxurious. The only minus was when she does feet massage, the legs are a little too elevated for my comfort. No fault on he part because I could have requested it be lowered but I didn’t. I figured it would be tough on her to bend over too low. Thank you, Claudia and Jane.
