My grandma and I came in here today no one greeted us. When we asked for a certain material which we bought alot of the lady was extremely irritated to have to cut it for us. The material is so hard to see due to the way they have everything stuffed on the shelves.

Hands down largest selection of fabrics in town. Not that there’s much to choose from, but this sure beats MIchaels and Hobby Lobby. Prices are reasonable and service is good. This part of town is a little more colorful, but nothing to be concerned about. If you’re needing specialty fabric for a project, try F&M first. If you can’t find it here, you probably won’t in town at all.

Although the selection is wonderful, the cutting ladies can sometimes be a little rude; there aren’t many smiles from the employees here. It is as if they are all very tired, or hungry, or overworked, perhaps a mixture of all. I really enjoy visiting F&M because of the endless options. They provide many basic fabrics, along with specialty items, and more hard-to-find fabrics. The store is arranged with many shelves filled to the ceiling tiles with bolts of fabric, creating many different«aisles» that are categorized by price. The front right corner of the store is ribbons, behind that is satins and other shiny wovens. Then they have linings with sheers behind the satin, followed by cottons and in the back there are charmeuses for around $ 5.99 a yard. The far back right corner of the store has a restroom within the knits section. They have many trims to choose; upholstery/home décor is located in the front left of the store, while apparel/special occasion trims/laces are in the back right corner adjacent to the knits. Lots of minky and fleece-type fabrics on the left back corner, they do also carry foam and batting(there is a special heat cutter for the foam in the back for custom sizes and cuts). They offer a variety of notions from zippers to hook and loop to hood and eye and beyond. They even have shoulder pad inserts and a whole section of elastic by the yard. Really expansive selection here. Reasonable prices comparable to those in downtown Los Angeles(where I once heard the owners explaining some of their shipments come from along with New York…). F&M is a great place to go if time is not an issue. I always find myself staying longer than planned as it is so easy to get lost in the endless options. The clearance section is my favorite part: $ 2 a yard and sometimes $ 1 a yard but the whole bolt must be purchased. I have fashioned curtains with clearance fabric from F&M, made many shirts and shorts, I was even able to create a lovely mantilla veil for a wedding with washed organza and lace trim from this store. It is a great resource for professional designers(they have a lot of interior designers as customers), and novice beginners alike. Of course everyone in between is welcomed to this fabulous fabric outlet. F&M is a very unique addition to East Bakersfield that is meant to be seen. They are able to satisfy most any fabric needs, and if they happen to not carry a certain item, they will refer customers to other specialty fabric places in town. This store plays fair and deserves five stars. Hooray for F&M!

My mother, the Super Homemaker suggested to check out this fabric store. I’m having a DIY wedding and plan to make my own table runners. I walked in and wasn’t sure where to go. They had an overwhelming amount of fabric, row after row. They don’t have anything labeled, such as style of fabric, cotton, flannel, chiffon, which makes you go around the store a few times to somewhat know where to look for your fabric. Not one employee greeted me or asked if i needed help with anything. When i asked for help they pointed in a direction and stated two aisles for the style i was looking for. Then when i was attempting to get a better look at the fabrics, i realized that i would have to Pry the roll of fabric, okay not a huge deal, but still no help. I then decided i wanted a polyester fabric that was not accessible, the associate said, «did you look all around for it?» I had and I’d like the polyester fabric. She walked away and said someone will help me soon. They also didn’t want to help. I decided to just get a swatch, leave and come back if i decided that would fit the best for my table runners. I got tired of poor service. I may come back, let’s hope for better service next time…

They have the biggest selection of fabric I’ve ever seen! The patterns and textures are truly fantastic, but it’s the customer service that’s the best. The owner is super friendly and helpful. I really appreciate their caring staff and high quality materials! Worth the extra drive!

This is the best fabric store around. I live supporting local businesses and there aren’t many for crafters. Great prices and huge extra wide rolls of fabric. Tons of lace($ 0.50-$ 1/yd), tulle($ 1/yd), felt($ 4/yd), etc. the owners are right there working and are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Oh my goodness. I am shocked that I have lived in Bakersfield for so many years and never knew about this place. I am thrilled to have found it. I’ve never been happy with the other fabric stores in town and now I never have to go to those places again! The selection here is amazing! The service and the prices are great.

Now, I must say im not an expert on what fabric stores are suppose to be like and what they are suppose to offer, but this play is loaded with all kinds of fabric, literlly from the floor to the ceiling. Why 5 stars? Because I found what I wanted and all of the employees where very helpful and friendly.

This is pretty much the biggest fabric store that I know of. If you can’t find what your looking for in this huge store, well, I wish you luck my friend. Prices are reasonably great compared to JoAnns. I would definitely come here more often if it was centrally located.

If I could rate F&M Fabrics with ten stars, I would! I love this store. Hello, my name is Darla and I am a fabriholic. If you sew and F&M doesn’t have what you’re looking for, you likely don’t need it. They carry all manner of fabrics and their prices are phenomenal! In addition to the fabric, they also carry numerous notions at great prices. Their trim, ribbon and button inventory is out of this world. I have been sewing for a while now(years) and F&M is my favorite fabric store. Before I knew about F&M, I shopped at the fabric stores in the L.A. garment district. No need to travel down there again for fabric. In fact, when our group , the medieval reinactment in which my husband and I play, have a major war event here, the store is packed with SCA members from L.A. who shop at F&M! I’d also like to mention the owners and their son and all sales associates are very knowledgeable and helpful. Even the customers seem to be happy whist shopping here. I am not related to the owners, nor do I have a financial interest in the business. I just really love F&M Fabrics.
