what happened to goodwill in bakersfield. first of all most of the items come from target recently. it seems most of the overpriced items are defective, broken or do not work. this goodwill location is really is awful. its not fun anymore. prices are to high for the junk they are selling. i guess people are blinded and think it’s a great deal. go to target and buy the same item cheaper at least you are able to return it if your not satisfied. target should be aware that by donating there used items they have just made a competition for themselves. goodwill bakersfield is taking advantage of blinded consumers. if you want a great deal go outside this area and shop or try salvation army at least they have a better selection of items. by the way be aware by goodwill asking a customer to show your id when using a credit card. its illegal. read your credit card disclosure and look it up online. its against the law. if they refuse a sale by you not showing a id its illegal. contact your credit card company to file a report to have this practice stopped

I have been coming to this particular goodwill for awhile. This one is fairly clean and the employees are always friendly. It can be hit or miss but I always seem to find something that will work for what I need. I usually go looking for clothes for my kids, things for costumes, or to check out the stuff they get from Target that didn’t sell. I have found several articles of clothing usually sold at Target with tags still attached(mostly seasonal items). I really don’t care for the parking lot and the way they have it set up. The drop off area is convenient for those«what didn’t sell at your yard sale» donations. Overall for the size one of the better goodwill locations in town for what I usually look for.

Really crowded and the clothes were a mess. I haven’t seen a Goodwill that disorganized before. Clothes were all over the floor and housewares were a mess.

Goodwill has good interview clothes. Would I shop here for regular clothes? NO. All of the shoes have permanent foot imprints in them. Never would I buy. The prices do match the clothes. These store always have a funny smell to them like old mop water or something. I mean I guess it’s coming from all the used items. The stores take vouchers which I good. Make sure you always wash these items before wearing I dont know if they do but I’m not taking any chances.

Went to drop of donations. Pleasant employees. Very fast and efficient. A little messy around drop off area but to be expected. Simple, quick and painless. Happy new home for my old things await!

I have drove by this location for years and on a mission to pick up a used pair of a certain type of jeans for a friend to try I thought I would try this location. When you walk in it seems a lot bigger on the outside than what it is inside. It is a little more organized than some of the other stores I’ve been in. Good selection of women’s jeans and a separate section for their high end ones. I really didn’t see a housewares area as it seemed really small but I was on a mission. The line wasn’t as long as other stores but I did have to wait for the clerk who was showing some people the costume jewelry which took about 5 minutes, which I thought was odd that she didn’t call someone else to help as there were many other employees in the store. I would come back as it was a cleaner of the goodwill stores I’ve been in but hand sanitizer was in order!

I wish Unilocal had half stars. I would give this location a 2.5. This Goodwill is close to my house, so naturally being a thrift store junkie, I’ve been here many times. I’ve been to many Goodwills, and this one is not my favorite. It’s usually a mess in several different areas(i.e shoes/toys). I absolutely despise their toy section. If I have the courage to try and dig through it to search for my nieces or nephews, I always am blocked by some little kid playing with a toy on the floor or riding around in a mini toy car. If I make it through the screaming kids, I never find anything. I have found a couple of things here, but not much. We usually donate our stuff here too. And honestly, whenever I come out, I feel like I need to wash my hands 20 times or take a shower. I don’t know what it is. Anyway, what do I think of this location? Eh. Could it be worse? Yes. Do I think it could be way better? Yes.

I went in looking for suitcases for my wedding. I walked in and was disappointed the size of the store, but I was there and going to search for my needs! An employee directed me if they had any it would be near the purses. I lucked out and found four at $ 25 for all! Great look for our wedding and a steal! Thrift stores means you’ll need to dig or search for what you’re looking for.

This review is for the donations drive thru. I’ve been here about a dozen times and every time the staff has been so friendly and efficient. I’m in and out in less than a minute. It’s been someone different almost every time but each and every one of them are great!

I hate how busy this Goodwill gets. Granted, it’s not the stores fault, but the layout + tons of people = shopping hell. If I wanted to wade through children and almost run into racks, I would have gone to Forever 21 or JC Penney’s. Anyways, while I do frequent this Goodwill, it’s out of wishful thinking. I’ve been here maybe a dozen of times and have yet to find anything. A high proportion of this store’s clothes are on the low end-cheap quality side of the spectrum. You’re even less likely to find«true vintage» here than you would another Goodwill. Women’s is okay if you’re looking for fast fashion, but not much else. The men’s clothing section is spare. At the very least, I’ve always had good service. It’s not a horrible Goodwill but you will probably find better at other ones.

I love the thrill of finding a new-to-you clothing gem at a bargain price at a thrift store. Unfortunately, that has never happened to me at this particular Goodwill location. I don’t know how Goodwill decides which clothing items end up at each location. Do they stock whatever was donated at each particular location and I just don’t have the same taste in fashion as the people who donate here? Do they send the better clothes to the stores with better demographics(near my house, ha ha)? I just don’t know, but I can tell you that I have found amazing stuff at some of the other Goodwills, but never at this one. Clothing donated to thrift stores seems to fall into two basic categories 1) Things that someone grew out of/shrunk out of, as they gained or lost weight that are still basically in good condition and still in style. 2) Things that are so far out of style or in such bad condition(stains, rips, missing buttons) that the owner would no longer be caught dead in public wearing them. I buy type 1 clothes; not type 2 clothes. This location appears to be mostly type 2 clothes. I know there is good stuff that is donated to Goodwill. Over the years, I have donated clothing items with designer labels in perfect condition in a range of sizes from size 2 to size 16(yes, life has been a rocky road). When I donate something to Goodwill, it will not have any stains, worn patches, pulls, or missing buttons. If it does, it goes in the trash can, not to Goodwill. Similarly, during my Weight Watcher days, I was hesitant to spend a lot of money on clothes that I hoped would be too large for me before long, so I learned to do my bargain shopping at places such as Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Goodwill. I found many items donated by people like myself in perfect condition(sometimes even with the tags still on them) and I got them for a song. Yes, I had to wade through a lot of crappy stuff to find my little treasures, but it was well worth the effort. I have never found a clothing item at this store that fits, looks decent, and is anywhere near in fashion. Yes, I am very picky about what I wear, but I can successfully find decent gently-used clothes at the other Goodwill locations. Why not at this one? I may never know. I thought I’d give them one more chance(I hadn’t been to this one in at least 5 years) before writing this review, but it seems not much has changed. The clothes are still not anything I would wear and never seem to be organized by their sizes as they are supposed to be. The only bright spot was that they now have a new system of tagging the clothes with different color tags based on sizes(see the pictures) so I could just walk by and spot which items would fit me in spite of the fact they were in the wrong spot. The only reason that they didn’t get one star was that while I was there I found a chrome/steel Starbucks brand coffee maker in really good condition for only $ 7.95, including the metallic thermos mug to go with it. SCORE!
