I spent my lunch here last Friday. The people were very friendly and very nice and the service was great. I ordered the sausage sandwich was very good. I would recommend this place, but bring a little extra dough. It is a bit pricey. But, I will still give this place five stars!

Wednesday’s are the best days thanks to Luigi’s! Their stuffed chicken is just purely amazing and their half and half pasta is also really good. Sadly it is only a Wednesday special thing but it’s well worth the wait

Wait! Hold on! I haven’t reviewed Luigi’s yet?!? What am I thinking??? It’s delicious!!! Is that enough of a review? Didn’t think so… Ok, here goes. Real Italian food with amazing flavor and a very nostalgic and local feel to the place! The service is fantastic, even if you have to wait to get seated because they serve you quickly and, again, the food is so worth the wait!!! Plus, they have a little storefront connected to the restaurant and you can buy meats and cheeses and breads! Think they’ll let me live there?! I bet that’s what heaven is like. A huge space filled to the brim with salami and cheese and bread and butter and wine for all! ***day dreaming*** Anyway, check their website for their daily specials(my favorite day is of course Wednesday’s because of their stuffed chicken but I hear their steaks are phenomenal as well). The menu is large and you can try something new every day and you probably won’t get tired of it, it’s all so good. It might be a little unhealthy to have all of the food day after day but it will be soooo goooo-oooood! ;)

The best or nothing. I was there for a special event wine dinner. What a fabulous outside dinner experience. The atmosphere was sizzling the hosts(owners) were amazing and the food was superb. The knowledge, the passion and the attitude of the people behind this place makes it one of the absolute best of Bakersfield. A true family owned place who care for its customers, food, tradition, and for the people who work there.

This review is based on Luigis as a wedding reception venue. While I liked the tea lights hanging and quick and charismatic service, the set up was oh so wrong. The walk way between socializing hour and seating was jam packed due to the bar being so close to the restaurant building itself. The makeshift tent for seating had slim to no ventilation, and the food. Well that’s what ruined it for me. EVERY guest received a MASSIVE steak which when looking around the room, I had to wonder if I was at some steak competition. You know… where if you eat the 5 pound slab of meat in a certain time frame you win a shirt and photo on the wall? Yuck! Plus pasta which could feed two and three, yes 3, asparagus spears sopped in butter. For someone like myself who doesn’t eat red meat, the aroma and sift of the blood streaming into the pasta sauce and coagulating with the butter sauce was difficult to bare. No thanks. Just too much food; what a waste! I never was fond of Luigi. Mario was always my go to guy.

My husband took me to Luigis for the first time last week. I had heard about it, but never been. We went to Luigis for lunch in the afternoon on a weekday and it was perfect! The service was great, complete with great recommendations. I had a mushroom ravioli with brown butter sauce(I may not have got that name exactly right) that was AMAZING, and my husband had the French dip which was also soooo yummy! We shared! Lol! The flavors were great with each meal. The ravioli had this amazing mix between the mushroom, the cheese, and the sauce. Man! I’m making myself hungry… Lol! The bread on the French dip was perfect when dipped into the sauce, it wasn’t too mushy, it was still so delish and had that little crunch. Mmm! And the meat was delish and tender, easy to chew and did not get stuck in your teeth at all. Really well done! I’d recommend either meal. We sat on the porch which was really delightful. The combination of plants and trees was so pleasant and it provided just enough shade which was very nice. The only little problem was we had a few flies come around once our food was deliver. I think I would recommend that the restaurant put just a very very low setting fan on the patio to deter the flies, they don’t like wind. But it was still very pleasant besides that. It was a great way to spend our lunch hour!

Excellent Italian food! Extremely busy for lunch and rightfully so. I had the Wednesday special which was stuffed chicken breast and half lasagna. It was excellent. There was plenty of seating. I enjoyed the meal very much and it will be a regular stop for me in the future!

Luigi’s is the quintessential Italian restaurant in Bakersfield. The aspect of the food that I enjoy the most is the simplicity: They aren’t trying to win you over with thrills or hooks. They are just making great food in a great place. The place is crowded on the inside and airy on the outside. If the weather is right(70 – 75 degrees), I’d definitely opt for an outside seat. With summers in Bakersfield sitting the 100s, I would probably prefer indoor seating. That also goes without saying that hours are limited — and I’m more than okay with that. Spencer’s and 24th Street Café got it right; high quality food/service in a small window of service is really the way to go for these types of establishments. My best advice is to come when they open(around 11AM) and don’t get mad if there is a line. There is going to be a line. You’ve been warned. Probably multiple times, too. I had the New York Steak and pasta. I opted for the ½ and ½ white and red pasta but I don’t think they brought that to me(it didn’t look like the pictures plus it was a different pasta type). Either way, the steak was tender and delicious and the pasta was great. My companion put it best in saying that the food tastes like it was homemade by a great chef. Service is great; attentive and timely. There is actually evidence purporting that these shorter shifts boost moral and help keep your staff energized — and it shows.

Love the food, the deli but especially the service. Every time we’ve gone it’s been exceptional. Liz, the person in charge of booking parties at the restaurant was fantastic. It was my sons 18th birthday and she bent over backwards to accommodate our large party. I was surprised how personable, caring and kind she was to my son and our guests. Really great experience and delicious food! My son especially loved the pickled tongue, yuk!

Garlic, garlic, garlic… don’t send the vampires here! But, my husband and I love Luigi’s! We’re huge garlic fans. Luigi’s is only open for lunch, which is a total disappointment. It would be perfect for dinner, but I get it. However, we took advice from my son’s teacher and got there right at 11am. She knew what she was talking about! We had to wait just a few minutes to be seated, but there were seats available. Everyone was just getting seated at one time since they had just opened. We were one of the first to be seated. My husband and I had only been here once before for a private 40th Surprise Birthday Party about 15 years ago. We were impressed then, but never got an opportunity to come back. When my mom said she was taking our boys for the day, we quickly planned our early Valentine’s Day celebration and I wanted Luigi’s included in it. I was NOT disappointed in my decision! The seating is almost family style. Tables are very close. So close you can hear the conversations of the tables next to you, which means they can hear yours! Totally unappealing, but still isn’t worth removing a star. There’s also patio seating. I want to try sitting out in the patio next time. The restaurant is always packed, so it’s super loud at all times. Usually another downfall for us, but the food and service outweighed it! My husband ordered Pasta Bolognese with Spicy Sausage. I ordered the New York Steak with half and half(red and white pasta). We split our food with each other and still had enough leftovers for the both of us the next day for lunch! All of our food was covered with garlic, which was a major plus for us. Even our 9 year old tried our leftovers and said, «I like all of the garlic!» Our little family loves garlic! The food was absolutely delicious. When you are seated, you get a choice of hard or soft roll with butter and it comes with salami, provolone, swiss, pickled carrot, and pepperoncini. All very good! My steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and so flavorful. The pasta and sauce were super yummy and the sausage was delicious, too. Just a little kick of spicy, not bad at all. The service was outstanding. Everyone pitched in. Our drinks were constantly full. Our waitress was amazing as well as the rest of the wait staff. We can’t wait to go back! We’re going to try a Tuesday so we can have meatballs(they only offer them on Tuesdays)! This is a must try place! I can’t wait for my parents to visit so we can take them here! They’re going to love it! I got my garlic loving and eating skills from them!

I was lucky enough to get off work early and meet my wife and great friend for lunch. We have been to Luigi’s multiple times and every time we go we get the same great service with the same great food. Today was just that. All of the staff are eager to make sure that your experience is one of the best. We ordered the Luigi’s sandwich. This is served in a soft Pyrenees’ roll. It comes with Dry Salmi, Cotto Salami, Mortadella, Provolone Cheese, Swiss Cheese, Mustard, Luigi’s Famous Sandwich Sauce, Lettuce and Onion. All of the meats and cheeses are fresh from the deli and the sauce is absolutely awesome. Of course since you are at Luigi’s you have to get a side order of pickled tongue. In my opinion it’s some of the best in Bakersfield. To cap off our great experience we had to share a slice of heavenly Butterfinger Pie!!! I have had several of their menu items and all of them we absolutely awesome!!! Fresh ingredients served we a great smile.

Okay besides their HECTIC schedule and you finally get to sit in after the long wait of people since they don’t necessary«take reservations» best Italian foooddd in Kern County! Service is a bit slow actually last time it was very slow but there is tooooons of people. I have came here multiple times and I love it every single time. I usually come on Saturday and get to eat their delicious steak dish. I am starting to drool as I remember the dish :(basically any thing in this place is to die for. They have different deals everyday whenever they are open –_– They seriously need to open every day! The PASTA! GETIT I do not care how you want it plated or with what but get it. I am not usually fan of Italian food or pasta but this pasta you can taste the freshness. Every bite you take you feel like you are biting a piece of cloud. IT is Soooo Fluffy!!! Dessert? Ugh I think so! YOUNEEDTOGETTHEIR Butter-finger pie. It has become a tradition in our lovely home to get this pie for the holidays. Yes cancel your order at Marie Calender’s, yes i’m serious it is soooo good.

I’m a huge fan of the appetizer plate of cheese, olives and bread. I have never in my life had tastier marinated olives. The bread was good, pretty sure it was Pyrenees. I’m not a blue cheese guy, but they had this mild blue with some tomato stuff that hit the spot hard. My last visit, I tried the half pasta bolognese and Luigi’s sandwich. It was gluttonous happiness. I was only able to finish half then, saving half for later. I can also recommend the pickled tongue, either sandwich or a side.

Pasta, steak, ribs, salads! Yep it’s all great! My favorite right now is a Giovanni’s salad and the pasta sachiette with brown butter sage sauce with a hard roll! My son absolutely loves a red pasta and beans! Now the SATURDAY special of steak and pasta is amazing! If you’re really feeling decadent finish your meal with a butter finger pie!

According to LA Times, this is one of restaurants Kevin McCarthy(the guy who was supposedly to be the next House speaker, but just recently dropped out of race) typically visit in Bakersfield( ); however, whomever wrote this article didn’t do a very thorough research: Luigis ONLY opens for lunch(from Tuesday to Saturday). Luigis sure is popular — it has been in business at the current location since 1910 and it is also one one of the oldest continuous family operated business in Bakersfield. Each day Luigis offers specials of the week(from prime rib on Tuesday to burger on Saturday). The menu can be summarized into several categories — antipasti(before the meal), sangucci(sandwiches), and pasta e fagioli(pasta and beans). Parking: I saw two parking boys holding up Luigis parking signs, but I was a bit skeptical and decided to park on the street instead. *** Complimentary French bread with cheeses, salami, carrot, and peperoncino: Cold butter with a really hard French bread, but I like the fact that it also came with salami and cheese! Beef ravioli(hard or soft roll, small $ 10.95): I opted for hard roll. Overall good sauce and fillings. For some odd reason, the fillings reminded me of Chinese dumpling fillings. *** Another local staple Italian restaurant in Bakersfield and there aren’t really any bad things to say about their food and service.

My husband and I are in town for a wedding and went to Luigi’s on recommendation from a friend. We stopped in for lunch after traveling from Nashville and we’re not disappointed. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu — which was great since she told us it was her second day! It helped that she’s been eating there since she was a child, which is a testament to the delicious Basque food. My husband asked her about the tongue sandwich and she gave a tantalizing answer, which she followed up with a sample for him to try before he ordered it – AMAZING customer service! It was very vinegary like you’d expect pickled tongue to be. He ordered that and I got the Thursday special Italian beef sandwich. We both got the Miranda salad as well. The salads were huge to be called a «small» portion and were amazing if you like your salad piled high with toppings(which I do) and were dressed with the house vinegarette. My Italian beef was good but nothing out of the ordinary and the sandwiches didn’t come with any sort of fries/chips/side option, which is why I’m only giving 4 stars. Two more things to note: 1) they had a butterfinger pie that looked heavenly but we were too stuffed to try it after our sandwiches & giant salads, and 2) there is a great vintage menu on the wall(among other memorabilia) that reads«t-bone $.25… with meat $ 5» that made me giggle. Overall, it was good food at a quaint little local staple and I’m glad we stopped in.
