Modern Charm Boutique

Modern Charm Boutique is the newest addition to the little center on the Northwest corner of Hageman and Verdugo that also houses Jacalitos and Krush. And boy is it ever charming! The logo is very cutesy and welcoming, with its two arrows drawing you in through the two glass doors int he front.
They carry clothing for everyone from infants to, well, people of MY advanced age who are still young at heart enough to want to look trendy and have fun. I always worry about boutiques only carrying the smaller sizes, it’s almost iMPOSSIBLE to find a large the covers my bust without straining, but Modern charm carries everything from small to 3x so there was a pretty decent selection no matter which size range you are in. One of my friends, Heather F, who is an adorable little skinny-​minny (not my body type), has been showing off her trendy new finds she purchased here and promised me that they’d have clothes in my size, too. My friend Megan and I, who have similar body types, set out to check this place out for ourselves.
There were only three other people in the store when we arrived, a mom, dad, and a young girl. The young girl was trying on clothes right over her tights as we started browsing. Shayna, the owner, walked over and helped us find the shirts we had seen on their FaceBook page for Megan to try on, and helped me find several different tops, too. I liked that she gave us her honest opinions as to which tops looked good on us and which weren’t our cup of tea. She even gave us pointers on how to cover up certain body flaws with well chosen accessories (I’ll never tell her secrets, I’m just going to PRETEND my body always looked this good on its own).
Megan picked out two complete outfits and her total only came to about $ 75 bucks with the Instagram discount they offered her. I purchased two adorable tops, one in a rich holiday red, in one in a more subdued taupe that I was so absolutely in love with I ran home and changed into one of them to go dancing that night. They gave me a discount for checking in on the Unilocal app, so be sure to ask about that. I received several compliments on the top and it flowed beautifully when I danced, the fabric feeling as wonderful as it looked. The two tops together were under $ 50 with the discount and were so versatile one could wear them with a beautiful skirt or tights for evening or just use them to dress up a pair of jeans for daytime.
Megan was in a hurry to get going (I might have been dawdling a bit) so I didn’t get a chance to browse through their wall of jewelry featuring necklaces and earrings. I’d probably need Shayna’s help accessorizing an outfit as that isn’t my strong point. I felt just like I had my own personal shopper! And, bonus, Shayna was actually wearing clothes she stocks in the shop so I could see it on someone else; she also showed me different ways to wear the sleeves on one of the tops.
Best of all, the prices were very reasonable, not overly inflated as at some other boutiques.

Went into this shop for the first time. Very clean very friendly. Has lots to choose from. Will be going back to shop more.
update: I’ve been back three times to get clothes for myself. I share with my girls, and even got something for each of my youngest girls.
I’ll probably be going back now because she just posted some pics of some cute outfits!
