I was really excited to see a new Caribbean restaurant especially in the a location that lacked a variety of food selections. Little Ochie did not deliver. The food was ok. I ordered a stew chicken with rice and peas to go the first time. When I got home I only found mainly bones and very little meat within the gravy, the rice was bland. I decided to give them a second chance and ordered from them again, this time getting oxtail with rice and peas. Once again disappointed at the flavors and lack of meat. Not impressed, I will not be ordering from here anymore.

I hate to give this place a bad review but I have to. Here’s why… First, ambiance. It’s just a local take out spot so don’t expect it to be 5 star quality. However this place too ugly for its own good. It’s not that old but it looks so run down inside. It’s very uninviting; you just want to get your food and run out of there. Onto customer service. The gentleman working behind the counter does not understand the concept of customer service at all. He does not greet you or even look remotely interesting I’m helping the customers. He just stands there looking annoyed as you order your meal. Clearly he does not want to be there and I can’t say I’d want his job either, but if I were the owner, I’d think about hiring a friendlier, more accommodating employee. His attitude obviously drives away business as you can see from the other Unilocal reviews. In all honestly, I’ve noticed this attitude throughout many Caribbean spots, so don’t assume that you’ll get great service somewhere else. Lastly, the food! The food was pretty decent. I got a medium jerk chicken. Chicken was a bit dry and I felt like they could work on their seasoning. The chicken, rice, vegetable ratio was a bit off. I got a nice amount of chicken with a ton of rice. I would’ve liked a bit more vegetables than all of that rice. It wasn’t bad though. I would go back but the other factors of this review will probably stop me from returning. If you’re into juices, they have various beverages that you can order. I didn’t try any, but I am curious to try. Note to the men: the Manish Water is supposedly helpful if you’re having trouble in the bedroom ;) A message to the owner: please read these Unilocal reviews. Your restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. You have many improvements to make.

The should really allow ppl to give 0 stars!!! We were truly excited about a Jamaican spot opening up about a year ago. However, after giving them 3 chances we will never order from them ever again. Initially we thought let’s give them a chance it’s a new business… For starters, the food is not good at all. Not only is their food lacking, but there is absolutely no good customer service. It seems like a business that is neglected on so many levels. I once witnessed a family walk out frustrated after a few minutes of reviewing the menu & excitedly asking about some of their dishes just to have the teenager in the front not address any of it appropriately. He looked like he did not wanted to be there… What was puzzling is anytime we called or stopped by he was mostly there??? Who leaves a bz unattended like that especially w/n it’s new. Also, if this is supposed to be a ‘Caribbean Spot’ then their décor should reflect this. It can be simple as palm trees in the front window b/c now I cringe everytime I drive by b/c it is such an eye sore. Similar to the food, it looks like no attempt was made to bring the beautiful culture of Jamaica to their customers. W/the exception of fast food Chinese, ALL the food places in Baldwin Harbor & other nice areas reflect the culture of of their food to the ambiance & décor of the place. VERYUNINVITING!!! If their food was good, they can get away w/a box that serves food in North Baldwin, where places like this are very common. But to succeed in the Harbor, you must bring it w/1. Food, 2. Attentive/Good Service &3. Décor.

jerk chicken was pretty dry and for $ 12 large tin I only got like a ¼ bird.

Reg takeout spot for hub & I. Love their fish dinners. Good portions and prices are reasonable. Snapper dinner is only $ 12.50

I was beyond excited to see a new Jamaican restaurant had opened in Baldwin, especially after I found out I was in their delivery area. I’ve ordered from Little Ochie twice, both experiences were lacking in every way. The Jerk Chicken is much dryer than it should be, and the jerk sauce lacks complexity. I ordered ¼ pound of jerk pork both times, with similar results. I’m not sure what cut of pork they are using but it was very fatty, with an almost sponge like quality. The beef patties are not made in house, and arrived cold on both occasions. I’ll always give a restaurant two shots to impress me, and Little Ochie failed miserably on both ends.
