The last few times I had dinner at Raginii, I was dissatisfied. Unfortunately, since my last review I have had several meals that I did not like. Chicken was poor quality and the sauces were not as flavorful. I will not go back.

I didn’t realize how much I loved them until they were closed for renovations! The best samosas I’ve ever had. Not greasy and sparkling deliciously with that Kala Namak. Please fix yourself up and open back up soon.

I enjoyed the food here a lot. I had a chicken curry. I had Samosa and naan. The atmosphere is casual. I love the BYOB policy. The waiters are very friendly.

I’m writing this as I eat leftover 4 days later and its still just as creamy and good :) I made a reservation 30 min before arrival on Saturday night. The guy who answered said he would do his best to hold a table for us. We found parking out front and walked in right before 7:30pm. The entry way is a tiny cramped space with a computer on a table and a miniscule bench where 2 or 3 people can fit depending on size. We weren’t greeted/welcomed/asked if we had a reservation or asked to sit down for over 7 minutes. There were 2 people already waiting. There was a woman filling orders from the window to the kitchen that is located right next to the table. It looked like she was filling online orders. The phone rang twice and she picked up and took orders. Not once did she look up to acknowledge our presence. One of the people waiting was given his take out food and he left. She never asked us if we had a reservation or greeted us. She finally asked how many and we said 2. She said it would be a few minutes. When we finally sat down they gave us menu’s and papadum with mint and tamarind. A bottle of sparkling water was already placed at the table. The waiter asked us if we wanted this water or tap water. We asked him for masala/spiced tea with milk. He bent down and told us that the kitchen was really busy and it would take over 30 minutes to make our tea so that we really didn’t want it and we should order something else. Don’t you love when a waiter tells you what you do and don’t want? We opted for tap water. We ordered dal makhani, shrimp korma and matar paneer. All 3 dishes were exquisite. They are the reason for the 4 star review. I would give the service 3 stars, cleanliness and appearance 2.5 stars. The ceiling was water stained and the walls had cracks. We were given complimentary rice pudding dessert before our departure. It was delicious! This place is tiny and popular. I understand why, the food is excellent. I would definitely return but with a small group, no more then 6 people or else you’ll be waiting a long time.

Excellent Indian Cuisine! In my opinion, this is one of the best Indian restaurants on Long Island. This was our first visit to Raagini but will definitely be added our ‘favorites’ list. If you are looking for ambiance then this is probably not a restaurant for you. However if you want to experience delicious Indian cuisine, then this is the place to visit! The owner and staff are very friendly and courteous BYOB

This is my favorite Indian Restaurant and I won’t eat anywhere else. The BYOB option is also an added plus and the Naan is always perfect. You can order all the dishes according to your spice preference. Favorite Appetizer: Crab Cakes Favorite Dish: Butter chicken

Excellent food and great service. The chicken vindaloo and samosas were delicious. Be forewarned: medium spice is hot! Just perfect for me I wish, however, that the place were larger and had it’s own parking lot but overall, I like this place a lot!

This place is tiny, so make your reservations. It’s a family run business with an amazingly friendly staff. Our family frequents this place and since our first time they really treat us like family. The food is consistent and it’s amazing. They can«gage» your spice level too. Just know it’s a BYOB restaurant but they will gladly serve it to you. Best galub jamun on the planet!

I wasn’t feeling good today, I had a headache, my back was killing me, didn’t sleep well, I knew the only thing that could help me was more sleep and good food… and I finally woke up from a great nap and I was hungry! Last week my husband and I ate some fantastic Indian food(which I still need to review). We were celebrating our anniversary in upstate NY. I had eaten some Indian food here and there but I lived in PA for the past 10 years and there wasn’t a good place close to home so I just never really gave it a good chance. I remember eating it years ago, I even had some in London and I must have had something strange because I remember not loving it. I’ve also gotten into cooking since I was younger and LOVE using curry, cumin, cardamom, etc… there’s also another place nearby that serves a great Chana masala so I’m like«Let me give Indian another chance» …OMG! I’m hooked! Last weeks dinner changed my mind… so I was on a mission to find some great Indian food nearby(I’m in Oceanside, NY). Google and Unilocal came to the rescue when I came across Raagini and it’s good reviews. I looked at the menu, I was hoping it would be as good as it sounded and as good as that place upstate…(New Paltz Indian Restaurant-YUM). I ordered the Chana Masala(medium spicy, which had a nice kick but wasn’t unbearable)(played it safe) which came with rice. I also got an order of garlic naan, regular naan and a vegetable pakora appetizer. It was close! I liked the appetizer from New Paltz a little better but other than that, it was about the same or better. I’m giving this place 5 stars based on the following: I called and placed the order and the person was very nice on the phone. I got there and was greeted with a smile and friendly service. I was asked if I wanted a discount, I said, «um, yeah!» And I got 25% off my order because I filled out a piece of paper with my phone and address, birthday and anniversary(so I guess this means more discounts are in my near future!!!). Now let’s get to the food! The appetizer was good, but I was expecting a little more variety(I think it was supposed to include a samosa and maybe other things, but didn’t) it was chickpea batter fried veggies and it came along with a couple of different chutneys which were AMAZING and the appetizer itself was satisfying so I won’t complain! The Chana Masala was great! Perfect amount of spice, good flavor, filling, very good. The rice(white) was a nice accompaniment. The naan… omg the naan… incredible. The naan is amazing. The plain is great but the garlic is outstanding. I am so happy this place is 5 minutes away, they have a new regular customer! Oh also, I did get it to go, I ate about half and I was full and the prices are great, and again, service seems really good. This place is great… and it made me feel so much better! Totally satisfied! GOTHERE! :)

Raagini is the best Indian restaurant in Nassau County and is up there with New Chili & Curry(in Hicksville) as one of the best on Long Island. For starters, we split the vegetable appetizer platter. This is a great choice to split between two or three people. It gives you the chance to try four different appetizers and none of which are overwhelming spicy so anyone should enjoy it. For my main course, I had the lamb jalfrezi. It’s an extremely tasteful dish with a slight kick. It was great over a bed of the basmati rice. For dessert, we split the rasmalai. For those who don’t know much about Indian food, rasmalai consists of small premature cheese balls(which have a consistency similar to tofu cake) which are immersed in cold creamy milk topped with nuts. It provides a pleasant neutralizer after a slice filled meal. The service here is attentive and friendly. I highly recommend Raagini for Indian food on the south shore. I would rate it four and a half stars.

ALWAYS on point. I go maybe once a month now that I’ve discovered this hidden little gem. I’ve been passing it by for years, but since it’s in a strip of fast food sort of shops, I’ve never looked at it twice. Until I was craving something different and away from the drab norm of Long Island favorites(Italian, Chinese, sushi.). This place is so cute on the inside– maybe about 12 tables in all, very quaint and private… you’re in an intimate environment, but not on top of eachother. The waiters and cooks are super nice and welcoming and always ask(multiple times) if the spice level is ok for you. My favorite is the chicken acchari curry– medium spice. and I’m just a little white girl with sensitive taste buds– so I’m telling you, this dish is the bomb dot com. Do yourself a favor and start off with the platter of crushed samosas appetizer(I snapped a pic below)…ITSOUTOFTHISWORLD.

WOWWOWWOW. this place is so good I’m deleting any other Indian food book marked I had up until now. My wife and I are in search of our new favorite spots in our new area of living and this is now our favorite Indian spot. From appetizers to main courses everything was perfect juicy, good sauces, flavors, presentation, service and most of all at the end the prices. They give a25 percent of at the end of the bill oh yeah… The items we had were Bombay crab cakes, lamb briyani, mixed tandoori grill, shrimp from the app menu forgot name, vegetable samosas the best we ever had not dry perfectly cooked. Even the white rice wad perfectly seasoned and fluffy. I have eat Indian food in many states, India, Bahrain and from my friends mothers kitchens and this is the best I’ve had. Cone try it I guarantee it will be good as long as they don’t change anything. We will be back here for sure.

Terrific food and service at this quaint Baldwin Indian. Every dish ordered was flavorful, complex and fresh. Spice level was exactly what was requested. Nothing but empty bowls of food when we left. It’s a good thing I snapped those Unilocal photos to remember. Most definitely will return. Be warned though that they are a bit pricier than some of their competitors over in Hicksville. They have an e-club where they will send you promotional offers. The waiter mentioned also they run a nice lunch special for just over $ 10.00. Wife and I both agreed they earned five stars the right way.

Came here for the first time last night after reading their writeup in Newsday, and absolutely loved it! Both the service and the food were impeccable, and the traditional décor was simple and stunning. Our waiter Frankie was friendly and attentive, and always made sure we had plenty of everything, and even gave us recommendations for our next visit. We started out with complimentary traditional crispy flat bread, and worked our way up to the garlic shrimp(battered and spicy) and vegetable samosas. Both were excellent, hot, and cooked to perfection. I had the chicken jhalfreezi, made extra spicy, and my boyfriend got the goat saag. Both dishes came with rice. We also got a side order of naan to scoop up the rich sauces. I took half of my order to go, and Frankie was generous enough to give me extra rice with my to go container. For dessert, we tried both the rice pudding, and an order of gulab jamun. The rice pudding was sweet and had cashews; the gulab jamun was rich and sweetened with honey. Will definitely be back!

Still absolutely love this Indian spot. The owner is such a kind woman. On Friday night my friend and I traveled here yet again for our craving. Around 7 p.m. we walked in to a packed restaurant. We had to wait a bit for a table. The owner was kind enough to put our entire order in while we were waiting on our table to be ready. By the time we sat down all we had to do was relax and hang back until the food came out. Attentive waiters and delicious chicken vindaloo!!!

Big tastes in a small place! We ate here tonight after my sister told me how good this place was each time she went there before. They also got a very nice review in Newsday this week and boy, was it good! We had an amazing waiter, Ayaz, who was so sweet, helpful and wonderful. The owner and her young daughter were extremely sweet and friendly too. Service was excellent and so was the food. We asked for medium spice on all of the dishes we ordered and they made the meal that way for us. We had quite a variety but unfortunately, I do not remember all of the different names of the dishes we had. The saag paneer and tandoor chicken were great and even the white meat(which I usually hate) was cooked perfectly because it wasn’t the least bit dry. Everything was plated nicely too. We brought our own beers and Ayaz brought us chilled beer glasses — you can’t ask for more than that! He did everything with a smile and made us feel like he was sincerely happy to have us there. Indian food isn’t my favorite cuisine(but I can eat good dim sum every day!) but this place was really good and better than the places we’ve eaten at in Hicksville. I hope they do very well because they deserve it and I love to see small family restaurants succeed. If you live far from Hicksville where all the Indian restaurants are, Raagini is up there with the best of them. We will definitely be back!

I often feel bad for places with 4.5−5 star reviews bc the expectations are set pretty high, but I’m happy to say that Raagini deserves its high marks. The place itself is pretty tiny, but the tables are spaced well, so you’re not right on top of others. Def not a place for groups over 4 though. The service was excellent and didn’t rush to get us out of there even when we stayed past 3pm(when they technically close). An order of naan, chana pindi, aloo gobi masal(both $ 11) was simple and delicious. Nothing too fancy, just food prepared well. Each dish is served in metal bowls that are deceivingly small, but don’t stress, they have enough in them to fill you up. I also have to give them props for not stealing lappy 5000 after I left it in the restaurant. They didn’t «lose it» they kept it nice and warm for me right in the front. Kudos! While it’s not quite up to New Chili & Curry(Hicksville) levels yet, Raagini is a solid place and will be home to many more visits from yours truly when I need my Indian fix.

Went here for lunch with a co-worker. We both tried the lamb thali for $ 10.95, which was lamb vendaloo plus 2 vegetables(chef’s choice), rice, naan and dessert. It sounded like was going to be alot to eat. When it came out the portions were small but the food tasted great! I later learned that Thali is supposed to be a little of everything. I will probably go back and just get an entrée. Wait staff was attentive & helpful. Décor was a little lacking and parking limited. Update I went back for lunch and ordered the curry chicken and it was delicious!
