Sorry Atwater’s but someone needs to pay attention. I have been a patron since Atwater’s opened in Belevede Square & have enjoyed many of their menu items. My husband and I visited this week for a light summer dinner. I ordered the Mediterranean Salad. A REALDISAPPOINTMENT. For a $ 9.50 entrée salad I expected better from the kitchen What arrived was plateful of romaine lettuce in very large pieces and a bland dressing with butter beans on the side. You can do better.

So I came here for dessert because they had such yummy looking desserts on display. I really like the location in Belvedere square because it is so chill. Anyways we got a slice of their mocha cake and omg!!! That cake was SOOOO good! In fact since there were three of us we decided to splurge and have a second slice as well! My only come would be I thought the price for the slice was slightly overpriced but it was worth it for the sweet tooth fix!

I’ve come here several times for coffee and a snack. You order your coffee at one counter and pay for it there, then they make it and serve it from another counter. Small bias, I would like to see more cheeses there.

I came here to satisfy my craving for a hearty American soup… I got the saffron and rice soup which did its job of being a soup… Nothing spectacular but it was decent. I ordered the meatloaf entrée and was more than disappointed. It was soooo dry. I even uploaded a picture to show you guys how dry it was. Way overcooked, no flavor, bland chunk of meat paired with equally bland vegetables. When you slice into meatloaf, it isn’t supposed to crumble. WHEREISTHEDEMIGLAZE? My frustration leads me to ask this: how can you mess up a dish that is quite simple to make??? By the time my loaf came out, I had to eat it anyway because I was so hungry waiting for it. Salt was my best friend. The only redeeming factor about this meal was my server. He was pleasant and attentive.

Really good coffee bar inside a multi-store center. I don’t really know how to describe it: it’s a big place with a coffee area, grocery area, juice area, and some other counters. Atwater serves Counter Culture Coffee made correctly. They make a great cup and they have for-here mugs. Their latte art is on point, their espresso is solid as is their pour overs, and this is a pretty high end establishment. They also carry a variety of scones and baked goods. In this area, Atwater is clearly the best coffee shop. It’s top tier, best you can get type of coffee. Parking might be a hassle because while they have an off-street lot, when I was there most of the market was closed and yet there was only one slot left for parking, which I took. Seating, I should mention, is at tables along the front windows or in the back of the space, which is somewhat dark. Whether you sit in the light or dark, it’s not bad. But it can be cold in the winter! When I was there, I wanted to wear my jacket inside and I left quickly because i was so cold. This is because one whole side of the building is garage doors that have no insulation.

Atwater’s is such a mess. This is a review born out of MANY visits to this place and finally throwing up my hands, saying, «That’s it! I’m done!» To start, the food is really not that good. The soups usually fairly bland. Their sandwiches always sound interesting, but when you get them, the flavor is often strange and mismatched for the ingredients; Different for the sake of being different, not for the sake of good flavor. I think the heart of the problem is their constantly changing menu. They never keep anything around long enough to develop standout dishes. A lot of my favorite restaurants have at least one specific item on the menu that keeps bringing me back, but nothing here stays around long enough to do that. Also, this place always seems to be touted for vegetarian/vegan«options.» I’m a vegetarian, and people saying this makes me seriously doubt the palettes of other vegetarians. The biggest problem though, is that no one working here EVER knows what is going on. At least not as a whole. Quite a few times after I order, I’ll have a server come back and tell me they’re out. There have been one or two occasions where I get a soup brought to me that wasn’t what I ordered, only to hear, «Oh, did you order [my order]? We’re out of that.» Then I have to wait, AGAIN, for new food. The last straw was when I ordered huevos rancheros, they’re brought to me sans beans. When I flag down the first server who will acknowledge me(and as usual, it takes a while) and say that it was supposed to come with beans, he says«Your server didn’t tell you we’re out of the beans?» I almost never send food back, but paying full price for cowboy eggs minus the cowboy is not something I’ll do. So Atwater’s gets one star for consistently bland food and for consistently screwing up the most basic functions. I can go to so many places that get these things right ALLTHETIME. Why would I keep coming here?

I made the mistake of going here again two years since my last visit. it has only gotten worse. I ordered a bowl of soup which came with a very small dry roll and no butter. What’s more soup wasn’t even hot. I also had a cup of hot tea. My bill came to just under $ 10. The woman who presented my check and took my payment didn’t even say thank you either when presenting me my check or after I paid for it. And I believe she’s the owner or manager because she’s been there for as long as I’ve been going there. Never again and this time I mean it!

I like this place. Either approach the cashier or sit around any of the counters or tables in the front and someone will shortly be over to help you out. During busier times, you’ll need to be more assertive in getting your server to give you napkins, your check, etc. Love the options for vegetarians here. With a rotating menu, there is always something new to try. I had the sweet potato hummus sandwich which I was apprehensive at first but… it turned out to be a good blend of sweet and tangy. My gripes with this place are over the price and noise level. A full sandwich is about $ 10 and you just get a pickle with it. Only at a fancy, full-service, quiet restaurant would I be maybe okay with that. Since this location is shared with many other vendors, it gets loud. Even when it’s less busy, the sound echoes throughout Belvedere. It’s not a great place to concentrate if you would like to study. Outlet access is scarce. I’ve come here with friends to catch up and have had no problem in that respect. But I would recommend Canton’s Atwater’s for a more quiet, café-style space.

With friends and in the mood for a non-alcoholic nightcap we stopped by Atwater’s. She ordered a Miju Sali pour-over and I an espresso(Counter Culture’s Big Trouble). The pour-over looked great, smelled wonderful and was served promptly. The espresso was pulling a bit tangy with caramel, almond and chocolate notes. A pleasant way to end our evening at the Belvedere Market. I highly recommend Counter Culture’s Miju Sali — it makes for a truly wonderful cup. If you haven’t had natural sundried coffee before, please, treat yourself!

I really need to visit Belvedere Square Market more often. Need more time to walk around and see what’s here. Definitely more time than I have on any given lunch hour. VIsited Atwater’s for lunch. They have counter space for dining around their little space, plus a couple tables around. I think you can sit anywhere nearby, and they’ll come to you. I had a ½ turkey cranberry sandwich(with apple, cranberry, brie, lettuce and mayo, $ 5.90), a cup of sweet potato and corn soup($ 3.75), and a black iced tea($ 2.26). Sandwich was fresh. Fresh turkey, fresh brie, fresh crisp apple, fresh everything. Rustic sandwich bread was not too hard, which is a failure at a lot of places. Very tasty sandwich. 5 or so pickle slices accompany the sandwich. The star of my meal was the cup of sweet potato and corn soup, which also has wild rice and apple. The flavors of the vegetables were just great. You can actually taste the sweet potato, and the corn had a snap that was delightful. I could eat a gallon of this for a meal and be happy. Soup comes with a good piece of hearty bread. Maybe too hearty and dense to come with soup. When I was done, the nice waitress walked over and asked if I wanted a refill of black iced tea or even a to go cup. I thought that was very courteous. I will be back. Their menu has delicious food all over it. I’m looking at you Maryland Rockfish Chowder. I’ll be back for you.

Yo. We go here a lot. it’s pretty much a tried and true place when you don’t want Panera but you don’t want to go to a sit-down restaurant, and you want to feel kind of healthy. Even when the market is crowded, we are always helped by an attentive worker, so I’m not sure where ya’ll two star people are sitting. It isn’t a restaurant, they have to see you in order to know you need menus, etc. You’re not seated. If someone hasn’t seen you, make yourself seen. I doubt anyone will scoff at you for it. Most people working there seem to enjoy their job, so I’m sure they aren’t purposefully trying for a shit tip. Moving on — the menu changes all of the time which is awesome. I typically get half of a sandwich and soup. One time I had to say«hey where is my salad» and then it immediately came out. The turkey cranberry joint… yas. The bread is delicious, whether served as a side or for your sammich. We used to have a friend that worked here and she would bring home the leftover bread and I’m not sure how we weren’t all 300 pounds. The draft selection rotates, their coffee selection is on point and their baristas know what they’re doing. I’m typically too full for desserts but the selection is great and you see the people working there keeping a close eye on the bakery case to make sure things are presented well and they are well stocked. The ice cream is also fantastic; very interesting flavors. We love the marketplace and even if I’m feeling healthy and friends or fiancé is feeling fried, that’s fine too because the options are all right there and are excellent, we can still sit together, and then I can steal some of his fries.

My boyfriend and I have eaten at this location a handful of times, most recently last night because I’ve been feeling under the weather and wanted some soup. We sat right at the counter and ordered right away. He got a bowl of soup(Hungarian mushroom with dill sour cream) and I got a cup of soup(mushroom and leek) and half of a chicken salad sammy. I looooooove their chicken salad, perf amount of that basil mayo and love the apples, cranberries, and raisins to give it a lil extra. I really liked my soup, it was loaded with mushrooms and greens. My boyf said his soup was okay, definitely tasted better with the dill sour cream mixed in, otherwise it was kind of bland. Service was good, wasn’t slow at all and our counter guy was helpful and pleasant. Sidenote: my boyf calls Atwater’s «fancy Panera» which I think is a pretty spot on description.

Good customer service. Good food. I loved the ice cream section. I got a «homemade caramel sundae» with peaches and cream ice cream. It was glorious. Better than any ice cream I’ve ever tasted. Great job!

My gf and I have eaten in the Canton location, and really enjoyed our meal, so we decided to try this one while we were in the area. Unfortunately, the locations are not consistent. We visited at 1pm on a Sunday and they were out of their really good biscuits, but not an issue for us, we ordered other options. I got chocolate milk, eggs, bacon, toast, and grits and my gf got a dry orange soda and the caprese salad. The capreses salad had only three slices of tomato and two slices of cheese, definitely not the size we were expecting. My meal was good, but could have been great. The eggs I had were very flavorful and delicious, but the bacon was bland cheap tasting and not enjoyable. The grits that came out with my meal were room temperature, so I flagged down a waiter and asked if he would hear them up. Instead of heating them, he brought back a bigger portion of room temperature grits… The highlight of my meal was the amazing chocolate milk and the highlight of my girlfriend’s meal was adding liquid sugar to her dry soda and making a delicious drink. To top it all off, the waitress that took out order disappeared until it was time to bring the check. I had to flag down another waiter if we needed anything. To top it all off, there had to have been 20 waiters and waitresses standing around, hardly any of whom were working. Final point to make this experience terrible. We are wrapping up, my gf has finished eating, but I still have a bit left. The bus boy comes over and plops his tub down on the counter, while I am mid bite asks if we are done. I say I am still eating so he just stands there watching me finish. As soon as I finish he tells us to put our dishes in his tub. What??? Why am I clearing my dishes in a restaurant?! Side note, the soup must be good here, everyone around us had ordered soup.

Visited Atwater’s yesterday. I was at Belvedere market a couple of weeks ago and after browsing the menu, wished I’d eaten at Atwater’s instead of the place I had my lunch date. –Set up: you sit anywhere in the market area, but preferably close to Atwater’s if you want to have responsive table service. Once you wander a bit too far, it’s hard for the staff to keep track of you. –Service: There seemed to be a shift change midway through our lunch. or maybe our original waitress went on her break. Either way, the change over was seamless. Both waitresses were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. The one«mess up» was the fact that we’d already told our waitresses that we were only having water to drink, we reviewed the extensive(more extensive than expected) drink side of the menu. We wanted to try lattes… after we received our food, we didn’t see our waitress until we finished eating. Wished she’d come back for that«how’s your food» check-in that waiters usually do… we would’ve taken advantage and made the drink order. –What I ate: 1. I had the gumbo which came with a baguette. It had a nice flavor to it… spiced nicely, good consistency. I especially liked breaking up pieces of the baguette into the gumbo to soak up some of that broth. 2. Pulled pork with apple/sauerkraut, and melted cheese on a cheddar biscuit. Now THIS… THIS was good! The pork was nice and tender! I could tell that they know their way around their breads. That biscuit was so nice, airy, had a slight crunchy«shell,» and I could actually detect the cheddar cheese that was baked into it. I wished that the brunch menu was a little more extensive in terms of options. Many of the items were very similar in terms of what was offered… there were minor swap outs or additions that led to the price differences between them. All in all, I’m glad that I finally made it to Atwater’s…The food was great, vibe was nice and casual even though the food offered is gourmet(a lot of places like that are pretentious), food was yummy, and it’s a great date spot.

I came here looking for a nice dirty chai, and thats exactly what I got. Outside of Red Emma’s, I havent found a local, independent business that can quite match the taste of what I’m looking for, and Atwaters was able to execute flawlessly. Also came in on a day where they had their amazing apple pie on sale and was able to snatch that up to make my trip complete. Great service, great atmosphere, right across from my all time favorite Tooloulou’s, which makes it the perfect spot for after lunch/dinner coffee. I’m a fan.

This is a great spot to grab a quick lunch, coffee, or tea. Parking is not as ample during the weekend, and the shopping center area of Belvedere Square is quite busy but lately I’ve gone there for wedding related meetings and it’s easy to get a table and the waiters all take care of the customers together and everyone is very helpful. Quality food, open market like atmosphere. Great for dinner pick ups(pre made food or grocery ingredients). Really glad this is in the neighborhood!

I think the theme I’ve experienced here is excellent and fresh food, but with service that leaves much to be desired and orders that take longer than expected to come out. I definitely do enjoy the sandwiches, salads, and coffee here. The pot pie is delicious as well.

There is ample parking here, which in the Baltimore area can be few and far between. It’s located in a market area, very interesting products, some specialty items that you don’t come across often. I had a turkey sandwich on cheddar with spicy coleslaw on top. I felt that it came out quickly and our server was pleasant. We ate at the counter so we never had to wait for her to come around again and fill our water back up. My friend had a chicken salad sandwich and soup. Both of which were ok, nothing jumped out at me as outstanding. I had a dirty chai, which is my new favorite drink ever.(DIscovered in Philly last month, where has that BEEN all of my life???). I’d do 3.5 if I could, but it didn’t really warrant a 3.

Oh Atwater’s how I love your food. I was a regular when I lived in town and you are a must stop on my trips back to Baltimore… but today, a server of yours ruined my experience to the point that I was moved to review you… You see it’s important that you keep your hustle tight as a server… that means that when you work a table full of elderly people for good tips that you not treat the other one that you’re serving right next to it like you don’t give a crap about them. «Hi, my name is Jen…» «Have any of you been here before?» «My favorites on the menu are…» «Might I suggest…» «Would you like cream and sugar with your coffee?» «You guys are like the cool glasses table… *fake giggle*»…” …were all statements made to a table that was comprised of rich looking old people that sat behind us. My girlfriend and I were given a much different treatment. In fact, none of those phrases were uttered to us. Our experience opened after sitting at a table for 5 minutes unnoticed with, «you need a menu?» Then after another 4 – 5 minutes, we were handed menus and asked what drinks we wanted. At that point I thought our server was just having a bad day… When she dropped off my drink, I said that I was ready to order… but instead of being able to order my two soups and appetizer, she informed me, «Hold on, I have other tables right now.» You see, my 10 second order would’ve taken too long to get… she came back 5 minutes later after the second drink was given to me by someone else, took the order and went away. A table of elderly people showed up next to us and were immediately treated to full conversation and warm fuzzies. They received all those quotes above and were given so much attention by her that I had time to pull out my smart phone, debate with my gf if I should take a picture of the server love they were getting, think about it some more and then take a picture of it. There was no waiting by them, and their orders weren’t brushed off by needing to work«other tables.» Our food was delivered by someone else; their food was delivered by Jennifer personally with extra comments and everything but a hug. Sure, she came over and coldly asked if «things were good,» but then would immediately go back to hovering over them, offering salt and pepper and cream and sugar when the gf and I had to get our own. My gf, who is more level headed than I, and who wanted to go to Atwater’s specifically after I told her how wonderful it was for her birthday lunch while we were in town(oh yeah there’s that fact too) was pretty disgusted. Get your serving act together. Suck up to everyone on an equal level, or at least be smart enough to not suck up to only the tables of elderly people who look like they have money. I feel like we didn’t have the look of tippers. Mainly because I dress as casually as possible all the time and my girlfriend was also dressed down to celebrate her birthday in a relaxing manner. Sadly, what could have been a really good tip, ended up being probably what your server assumed to be a self-fulfilling prophecy… On more than one occasion, my mild-mannered gf exclaimed«seriously!!!» when listening to the over-the-top treatment the hopeful«big tippers,» that Jenn was working. I was right there with her… And also, we were the«cool glasses table…» but she didn’t even spend enough time to notice my black Ray-Ban hipster frames. :( You’re better than this Atwater’s… you’re better than this.
