I was in town for three days on business and Brighton’s was the most convenient breakfast option since I was staying in the Royal Sonesta where in it is located. I wish I had the energy to be funny or witty about this place but I have to give it to you straight. Service. Is. Awful. And the icing on the cake is that I got the feeling not a single member of the staff including who I assumed to be the manager has a clue anything is amiss. We ate at Brightons each morning we were in town and with each experience we had hope… hope that coffee wouldn’t take 20 minutes. Hope that our food would be delivered sans mistakes. Hope that our waitress would put a little quick in her step or more so that she wouldn’t disappear for 15 minutes at a time. And with each meal our hopes were crushed. Substitutions and omissions went on deaf ears(no nuts? There were nuts. English muffin instead of toast? Here’s your toast.) and at one point one of my co-worker’s orders was forgotten altogether and rather than admitting to the mistake or apologizing our server simply said«oh…right,» and to keep with the running theme, disappeared for what felt like forever. Honestly, I could have overlooked some of that if getting a glass of water or cup of joe wasn’t a fifteen minute ordeal. At some point it stopped being frustrating and crossed the line into humorous territory. We would laugh audibly as our server would walk right past our table, water glasses empty and requests for coffee still pending and into the back not to be seen for an unnecessary amount of time for any server to disappear while on the clock. The food was good. But the service issues completely overshadowed it. I could say more but putting anymore time into this business would be doing a disservice to myself. Seriously.

When attending a Thanksgiving buffet for $ 58 a person, expectations for a truly awesome dinner are high. What a major disappointment. The first surprise was the announcement of the Bloody Mary Bar at $ 10/drink or $ 18/person unlimited. May have been worth it had the buffet been better but as it was – not even close. The only savings grace was an outstanding raw bar consisting of Oysters on the half shell, steamed clams and mussels. The shrimp were at least 10 – 15’s or larger and perfectly cooked. Clams and mussels overcooked and rubbery. Salad bar was average with nothing to shout about. The main entrees were Ham served on the steam table which was dry and leathery. The Standing Rib was well cooked but either low Choice or Select grade at best. The whole Turkey at the carving station should have been an embarrassment to the Chef and never been served. The Turkey was so over cooked the dark meat was dry. Gravies appeared to be standard mixes and nothing special. The desert table consisted of average deserts with nothing memorable. Al l in all a major disappointment.
