Yo. One of the most important places in Baltimore to go to find up and coming talented bands, artists and creative brains. This place can serve as an art gallery or full out music venue. Now dont come through expecting this to be some fancy venue with some kinda rock star ambiance. This is DIY, garage rock, real hood sh*t. No air conditioning, fairly small. But we’re not here for that fancy crap. This is where you come to rock out to your favorite local bands and sweat/mosh out the frustration of your day. Historically important to BMore’s(rock) music scene. Was a pleasure to step inside this place.

What an amazing venue for rising artists. It’s funky and cool, and the people are friendly.

Good small venue with average to great sound. My only small complaint is that they don’t sell advanced tickets so you have to go get there early if the show is expected to sell out. I had to get there around 7 pm to see the Boston Strangler show(they had about 5 openers and they didn’t go on until 11:30 pm). I also wish that they’d book more shows here. Street parking is very easy to find on Maryland Avenue.

Charm City Art Space is pretty cool for what they offer to Baltimore. They are an art space! That’s what their name says. I’ll go back if a band I like is playing. I’ve only been to CCAS once, but I was there for a couple hours to see a good show. Like a lot of venues on the east coast, this place is a tight, brick walled matchbox. With only ~50 people in the room, the temperature was at least 20 deg. hotter indoors than the ambient 70 outside. I was sweating pretty solid. Bathrooms are standard. Merch tables are standard. If you’re used to seeing small-time punk shows, this is definitely no surprise. I haven’t been here for an art gallery, but I’d bet it’s low-key and nice. The staff were friendly and seemed cool. One of the coolest things about CCAS is their website. In a few minutes, you can clearly see that they have a Mission, a well-designed membership system, and it’s clear how it all fits together. When I showed up to the venue, it was smaller than I thought it would be, but it was still alright. There’s enough street parking that you should be fine if you drive at night. I wouldn’t really recommend walking from Penn Station alone, but if you have at least 2 other friends then it might be an option. Still not advisable. This is not a venue for people who care about aesthetic. This is for people who care about ideas.
