Lake Trout and Chicken

I live within a stone’s throw of this place, and it always seems busy. So I opted to order delivery from them when I could not go out. With a name like Lake Trout and Chicken, I felt safe ordering either fish or chicken.
My order was the fish platter (catfish, sweet potatoes, collard greens) and a diet coke. After an hour, I called about my food and was placed on hold until someone disconnected me. I called back and was told my food is on the way. After another 30 minutes, I get a call and am told the driver is at the door. (He wasn’t even on my two block road yet.) So the food arrives almost 90 minutes after I call — at almost 3 PM.
The food was well-​packed. My diet coke arrived cold. That is where «good» ends.
The fish looked great, but I do not think it was catfish. In fact, I’m unsure what kind of fish it may be. It smelled good, and the taste was okay. However, the texture was something like a fish-​ish piece of gelatin was somehow battered, deep-​fried and allowed to sit in a Styrofoam box until the battered coating was soggy. It was so bad that I could not eat it. Very disappointing.
The sweet potatoes were okay. Something like frozen sweet potatoes that were heated and mashed. No butter. No seasonings. I added butter and a sprinkle of brown sugar and they were fine.
The collard greens were colder than my soda. They tasted like they had been dumped straight from a can. Again, no seasonings. It’s not hard to make scrumptious collard greens, people! And I would have simply accepted them if they had been walked past a flame.
I love dives and holes-​in-​the-​wall. However, the food was simply not good. Maybe it is better when the order arrives during a more busy time — but then I don’t think I would have ever received my food.

I really like this place. I started ordering from them right after I moved to Baltimore. I had a bad experience at this other place and found their advertisement and tried them. Their food is good!!! Hands down! My problems are they are slow. You order and they’ll said 45 – 50 minutes and next thing you know it’s going in a hour and fifteen minutes or even a hr and a half before you have your food! No call no update or anything. I tend to order from grub hub for them and they still are accurate or on time. One thing that bothers me is because they are so slow you wind up getting cold food and they seem to care less about it! I’ve called them many times in reference to cold fries and it seems like they get mad but it’s not my fault you have slow chefs and drivers. It’s bothers me because they caused it and have the nerve to get upset with me. Like I said I like their food a lot but their slow delivery time and attitudes make me think twice before ordering and makes me want to stop ordering altogether!

My office ordered delivery from Lake Trout and Chicken this afternoon, and we were sorely disappointed. We ordered the fish platters, and to the credit of the restaurant, they called to let us know they were out of steak fish (by 11 am?). They then assured us they would be able to substitute for another fish. We agreed after asking for a boneless white fish. What arrived were pieces of deep-​fried full fish, with tails, and the entire spine in tact. In addition, all the food was lukewarm to cold by the time it arrived. Would not recommend delivery from this restaurant to others.

I ordered the crab cake sandwich, and my friend got the grilled chicken. Very tasty! The crab had a great kick to it. We got delivery and the fries and bread were still fresh-​tasting and not at all soggy. The restaurant even called to confirm my order since I accidentally submitted it twice. Great for the price and plan to order from here again!

There food was great! My favorite is their chicken tenders with fries however I plan to try more soon!!!
