This used to be my go-to favorite takeout restaurant, until earlier this year. They must have changed ownership, because the recipes all changed. The food is much greasier & heavier now, more«typical Americanized Chinese» type food. Also, they used to have mock meats instead of just tofu, but alas those are gone too.

I have been ordering delivery from this restaurant for about a year. I was satisfied with the basic orders of egg rolls and fried rice. After some time the quality of food lacked and the delivery time became excessive. The most recent delivery order took over 2 hours. Upon speaking with the owner of the restaurant I learned she would not refund the order and she could not assure me the food would be delivered any time soon. Very disappointing. Will no longer order from Mandarin Taste.

Ordered takeout here for the first time a few weeks ago, as we are moving to the neighborhood soon and wanted to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised. It was exactly what I was looking for, and my wife was happy with her choice as well. I ordered Sesame Chicken and she ordered Moo Shoo Pork. We had Pork Fried Rice, too, and Egg Drop Soup. Enjoyed all of it, even as leftovers. Looking forward to having this option nearby as an easy meal when needed.

I have ordered from here a lot and never let me down. There food is priced great for the portion you get. I would give it 5 stars but they recently increased their delivery fee from $ 1.50 to $ 3. That may out a damper on me ordering from them in the near future, but if the fee do it no there you go for it

Five stars for food! Best Chinese American food in Baltimore hands down! And they’ve expanded menu to include Thai and hibachi. My tofu sambal was unbelievably good– crispy-chewy tofu, tossed with soft, rich eggplant, crimini mushrooms, onion, green pepper, bok choy, flavored with anisey fresh basil and a rich, slightly spicy chili based sambal sauce that had deep umami from shrimp paste; little jolts of sweet from rock sugar was topper!; my wife had perfect Hunan shrimp– veggies and shrimp greaseless and crisp; black bean sauce tang, just enough to coat and enhance; my sons pad Thai was rich and peanutty, full of egg and shrimp. Mmm… Only 4 because though you can eat in this is truly carry out. While clean most of the former dine in restaurant space is used for storing soda; also no hot tea, and you have to eat out of carry out clamshells. That said– service very friendly!

By far my absolute favorite place to get take-out. I can’t recommend this place enough. My order always tastes fresh, flavorful, and very good quality. It comes quick and with a friendly smile from the driver. If you’re looking to change up from your regular place that’s just not cutting it, try ordering from here because you will not be disappointed. I refuse to get Chinese food from another place, I’ve found my new go-to!

I’m pretty finicky when it comes to Chinese food. I’d been at my new home for four years before I ventured out to try a new Chinese delivery. A few of my neighbors recommended this place. With so many recommendations, I thought it had to be good. And it has been for me. Very good and wonderfully fast delivery service. My family orders pretty much the same dishes and they have been good every time. Fried rices, egg foo youngs, moo shu pork, beef and broccoli and the won ton soup. They give us plenty of shrimp, meat, etc. The broccoli is crisp, not mushy. Egg foo young patties aren’t soggy. No complaints at all. Also, when I order the moo shu pork, I like three extra hoisin sauces. EVERY time I order this, they are sure to include the extra sauces and I don’t have to ask. You can’t beat that service. There was also this time when I called a half hour after their closing time. I simply hadn’t noted the time before I called. They ring my door and I note that the person delivering my food sounds like the person who took my order on the phone. I jokingly ask if the delivery person has the night off, she responds no, he’d already left for the night. She said that she wanted to deliver my food because I’m a good customer. Geez. I gave her a tip that was greater than the cost of my food. Recently I’ve noted that there is a new voice answering the phone. She confirmed that the business was bought by someone else. I’ve since ordered a few times and the quality of the Chinese food dishes seems just as good if not better for the dishes we order. OH, I must say this. The new owner has added Thai food to the menu. We tried the Pad See Ew and the Pad Thai. Both were flavorless. We won’t be ordering the Thai from here again. Other than the Thai, we really really like this place.

The food is good. However, the chow mein was very unusual. It was chicken, bean sprout, celery, and cabbage all cooked together in a clear sauce. It came with a package label chow mein noodles(very crispy crackers). This was very unusual. Most chow mein I’ve had consisted of noodles, protein, and vegetables. The noodles were cooked to the style of yakasoba noodles. If this is the type of chow mein you are used to I’d recommend it. If you are used to chow mein with noodles I would recommend that you went with a different dish.

I placed an order for delivery on eat 24 and had it confirmed for delivery in 45 minutes. It showed up 1 hour and 40 minutes later. I guess they get busy on Friday evenings. The food was bland as if they ran out of sauces or spices and it was not fresh. Maybe it was sitting in the delivery car too long. To make a long story short… delivery took forever and the food was terrible. I will not order from here again.

Had the orange chicken and fried rice and my kids had the general tso’s chicken with lo mein. Wish I knew about this place before. Food tasted fresh and it was not greasy. They also deliver pretty quickly. This is my new place for Chinese food.

Not the best Chinese I’ve ever had, but it’s good enough that I would order here again. The portions are very big… big enough for at least two meals. They also offer a white meat option for the chicken entrees.

Not sure how this place has 4 out of 5 stars. Second time ordering and both times were pretty bad. Tasteless and bland food both times… won’t be ordering from again.

We were visiting friends nearby and promised to arrive with Chinese food and picked this place out based on Unilocal review. We don’t understand how it got 4 stars. Schezuan tofu was totally bland and tasteless: neither hot or spicy. Szechuan stringbeans came in a brown blah gravy. Other dishes similarly tasteless. Soup passable — sort of low-end mall edible. I would have given this one star except the owner searched me out after I first posted this review and apologized, said they were crazy rushed on Xmas(the day we ordered), usually do much better, wanted me to come back and see what they can do, etc. She found me based on the dishes I described, and called me on the cell phone number I had left. So they get a second star for being concerned, taking responsibility and trying. I’m not persuaded, but I guess, given the call, I am with Steven S, who posted a review earlier this month — I’d eat here again IF I was really hungry and nearby and wanted Chinese food. I might specify I wanted spicy and crisp too.

I give it 3.5 because I was hungry. The quality of Chinese food had gone so low that average meals get scaled up. The human shrimp was okay. Broccoli under cooked, shrimp were great, sauce was pastry and won ton soup was great. I would eat here again if I was really hungry and nearby but that is it

Hit and miss. I really like their spring rolls. You can tell they are homeade.

My parents live in the area and have been ordering from here since it opened at least 10 years ago. It is definitely the best Chinese food around. I have since moved about 35 minutes away but have yet to find another Chinese place that even comes close to this. I think the previous owners sold it a few years ago so it’s a little different but still good. My favorite things are pan fried noodles, cashew chicken, fried wontons, and wonton soup but everything is good.

I’m always searching for a new Chinese restaurant — one that has food that is fresh and seasoned well. I ordered the General Tso and Orange Chicken. The broccoli was good and not overcooked and I was glad they had brown rice as an option. However, the chicken… where was the chicken? The breading was all I could taste. The chicken was cut so then that the breading was all I could taste. Still searching for my «go-to» Chinese restaurant.

First time I ordered from here was delicious, fresh and lots of veggies. This last time was pretty gross, three pieces of broccoli total and sauce was like motor oil. Took three bites and threw it out. Sounds like an off day given all the reviews.

New to the area and with that in search of a new Chinese restaurant — one that has vegetarian options and peanut safe practices. After some searching we decided to give Mandarin Taste a go, and a quick talk with a manager before ordering set our minds at ease in regards to peanut policy. We ordered the General Tso’s Tofu along with our«standard» eggplant with garlic sauce. Decided to go with carry-out and food was ready in about 20 minutes and everything was correct. The eggplant with garlic sauce is slightly different than what we are used to, but in a good way. Instead of being all eggplant, there were a variety of other vegetables in the dish including some fresh carrots and broccoli. The General Tso’s Tofu was also amazing, great rich sauce with a hint of heat. The tofu was well cooked, firm on the outside with an almost caramelized crust and nice and soft on the outside — much better than the standard pre-cooked fried tofu tossed in sauce. This dish also came with some fresh broccoli, which seemed to be steamed and then added in. Only change I would make is to the portions, essentially we wound up with way too much rice and not enough sauce. Everything tasted amazing the night of, but the lack of sauce in the dishes resulted in some slightly dry leftovers, but nothing a little vegetable stock couldn’t fix!

Lucky me, this is my local Chinese place! Fresh, not too greasy. Really good egg rolls. Lots of beef in the beef and broccoli, and the meat is always tender, not chewy. The interior décor leaves something to be desired, but who is going to eat at the restaurant anyway? A warning: I have had problems with order accuracy. So make sure to check your order when you pick it up. After getting used to their delish food, most other Chinese restaurants’ food seems greasy and low quality.
