Gunneso’s Barber Shop

Place is a gem. And an anachronism. Not sure that the haircuts are that good (if you don’t say anything the youngsters are likely to walk out with a bowl cut), but for years we loved taking our sons here. There were loads of adults who looked on knowingly — they themselves had obviously been coming here since they were children to get their hair cut. The boys liked their bucket of forgotten toys and interesting children’s books. Not too long ago they added a TV to the waiting area and this was a mistake. The folks who work here are older (and very friendly) and they usually have the volume up way too loud. We actually don’t frequent this place any more, usually going further north up York Road to Sal’s.

I don’t like giving out 5 stars because that would mean it was flawless, but this place is great. Prices are 14 for a guys haircut which is cheaper than most places. They cut my hair really well and the conversation is great.
