This is basically a night club with DJ; don’t go there for dinner. The small plates — at least the ones we tried — are actually not bad; I’d give them 3 or 4 stars. But you have to dine on uncomfortable seating, half of which are simply backless cubes — and THEN bend over to eat your food placed on low cubes the height of a low cocktail table. The wine list totally sucks, and they didn’t have the wine we ordered(a cab). The oldest red was a 2012(no cabs at all). They do have a list of fancy cocktails, if that’s what you’re in for; we didn’t try them, so no opinion there. As someone else noted, the décor is dark intimate«hip»; the front of the place has low mattress-like lounging areas and a fireplace. This place is best left to 20-somethings on the dating scene. No one shows up until 10 when the DJ arrives.

Hollywood secret — tv shows and movies film in Baltimore and pretend it’s DC.(I’m looking at you, House of Cards, Veep etc.). When they do, and two characters need to have an intimate conversation in a lounge with a sexy vibe, don’t be surprised to see them go to Red Maple(although it may be unnamed). It has intimate lighting, a dance floor a bar, hookah, an outdoor courtyard for smokers(and barbeque in the warm months). My favorite thing about this place is that it has at least 5 types of seating types, from wide stepped areas to benches around tables. You can come early for an intimate conversation and a drink or appetizer or come late to dance with your friends. If you like to smoke indoors, hookah is an option on Sundays and Mondays. The crowd is little unpredictable, the service is hit or miss, and occassionally food is overcooked. Even still, it’s one of my favorite Baltimore spots — if you are looking for ambiance, tap into your inner location scout and stop by. I can’t guarantee that you will see a film crew here(I never have) but if you bring the right group of friends, you will have a good time.

We got here around 8:30 on a Saturday evening and the place was dead. Which was alright I guess because we had a large group for a birthday. It was a bit cold surprisingly with all of the fireplaces(which gave the place a cozy vibe)…the music was alright. Just think it could have been livelier. Not the place for me. Kind of boring.

If I could give negative stars I would. First, bring a flashlight and a heavy coat we were here on 12÷5÷15 and the interior temps were about 60°. We were welcomed by the aroma of a wet mop as we checked in. Apparently one of the bartenders was late in his duties as we arrived. The place has poor lightning, mainly so you can’t see the floor your shoes are sticking to. We were seated in the upper area where there were 4 other parties. Oh and watch out when you take a seat the benches are not only uncomfortable they aren’t bolted down and wobble when anyone moves. Service was good, the food however was less than TGI Friday’s. The Apple stuffed duck breast was overcooked and VERY tough, smeared with some kind of Apple butter stuffing. The tempura butternut squash was not only cold and raw the tempura coating fell right of when trying to get a piece with your fork. The bacon wrapped dates were ok, till you got to the tomato sauce(ketchup) savory bacon, sweet dates and KETCHUP ??? The only saving grace was the tenderloin. Oh and that bartender … paraded the mop and mop bucket in front of all the guests, had a beer(why not he noisily stocked 3 – 4 cases of bottles since there’s no tap here), had a snack behind the bar and finished his show by dumping ice in the wells. John Taffer doesnt have enough money in his budget to rescue this pretentious joint.

Came here for a private event. Food was decent with great sauces. Abundant and flavorful with great texture. The fusion flavors were great and the dark, cool club lighting was nice. The area itself was a bit narrow with a very small and slightly awkward dance floor. The outdoors area was a nice break from the loud music and they have heated fire pit-esque areas for cold nights. Music was alright and it was a good experience.

Try some salt and pepper On a Thursday night, we were only one of 3 tables there for dinner. The waitress/hostess was attentive. I had the lamb chop appetizer which completely lacked flavor. It was well cooked, but had no salt and the sauce on top was a bit off. The celery purée it came with was also completely bland. My friend had the gnocchi which was much better. For dinner I had the duck breast. It was cold when it arrived. It was perfectly cooked, but also had no flavor whatsoever. There was clearly no salt or seasoning used. The cherries on top had no seasoning either and were just reconstituted with no sauce. My friend had the short ribs which were also very bland. She didn’t eat any of it. Even copious amounts of salt didn’t help the food.

I used to come here every Monday for industry night until they stopped allowing hookah in the entire club. Smh, haven’t been back since. But… the lamb burgers, calamari and tacos are amazing!

Decent food, good sauces, Asian fusion/middle eastern flavors. The décor of the place is cool but if you are eating you are uncomfortable with low Seats with no backs and low tables. Maybe that’s just a tapas place. And this place really isn’t meant for food or meals. The music was really weird and the place was literally empty but we went for an early dinner, so expected. Let’s talk about the food in detail. Ordered 6 things to split with a friend, you don’t walk away feeling very full. Best to worst: Lamb burgers SOOO yummy. Nice pita bread and good lamb and sauces inside. Zucchini fries were really good with their paired sauce. Rest of the dishes were really mediocre/average. Tofu fries came out really hot. Didn’t like the paired sauce as much but still decent. Samosas. Fine but they have a puff pastry type skin so not like your typical samosas. They were room temperature, so fine but not delicious. Thai coconut curry crab dumpling. Really small, but good tasting curry. The dumpling skin was kinda thick, wish it had more filling. Hawaiian teriyaki tuna skewers. Good but did not come out very hot. Average tuna. Overall everything was fine but didn’t like how empty the place was, literally felt kinda lonely, food was mostly room temperature, a little overpriced for its average quality. Would not recommend for meals but seems like a cool vibe for the nightclub, if the music is better.

We got a Living Social. We walk in to weird robot porn music being blasted through the dimly-lit place. The tables are maybe 2 feet tall, with really uncomfortable seats. I sat on a bench and wobbled 3 other guests. I wish I could have just sat on the floor. We ordered the crab dip, which was good, but did not taste at all like crab, and was doused in sriracha. At this point the music turned to smooth jazzy elevator music. Then came the tiny lobster dumplings, which again were good, but nothing to write home about. My bf says it just tasted like shiitake. It was like 4 thin pieces of ravioli. The sauce was overpowering. For drinks, I recommend the Filibuster if you like whiskey. My Mz Behavin was just a weak margarita with old bay on it. The music never got better, just louder as the night went on. At some point there was a weird Beatles cover. Also the service was terrible.

The good: Latin music, atmosphere, and food was good. The bad: debit machine had issues for a while and the waiter didn’t know what time the Salsa night was supposed to start. According to their site it was 8:30 pm, the waiter said 8:30, then 8:45 but the sign in the club said 9pm.

My extended family and I purchased a living social deal that included tapas for 8 and two bottles of the house wine. Since it’s chef’s choice we did not get to decide what we had so I will list below what we received and you can decide for yourself if it was worth it: 2 bottles of wine(one red, one white and I don’t remember the kinds but lets be generous and say they retail for $ 50) 1 artisanal cheese board($ 14) 2 red maple crab dips($ 20) 2 mango and papaya ceviches($ 18) 2 seared scallops($ 24) 8 lamb burgers($ 39) 8 watermelon gazpachos($ 44) Of these dishes the gazpacho was practically inedible, the cheese board was bare with perhaps 3 crackers/one baguette round of bread per person and with the exception of the two items where each person had their own serving, portions were incredibly paltry. Moreover, while the lamb burgers were delicious, everything else was forgettable at best. If you care to add it up, the total price of the food items before the wine comes to $ 159; $ 209 if you assume $ 50 for wine. Given that the normal price of this offer without the Living Social deal is $ 240 I think you are better off ordering separately vs. as part of the«deal» offered by the restaurant. Perhaps I’m being overly harsh which is why I provided the detail above so that informed consumers can make their own decision. Personally I will never visit them again unless it’s because they read this review and try to redeem themselves.

A lot going on at this place… but I’ll never forget the tapas. Stopped here for a late dinner and ordered the tapas for four $ 120 which makes everything easy. The chef picks what he wants, you get a bottle of house wine and you can sit back and enjoy. Every tapa that came out was so great, we loved the fact that it never seemed to end. Cant say much for the wine… when we switched over to drinks from the bar they were expensive but pretty good overall. Service was ok, nothing above or below what I would expect. One thing I do want to mention is aim for what youre looking for: if youre looking for a trendy dinner spot with a lounge feel, this place is perfect before 9pm. If youre looking to dance and get it on the dancefloor, head here on the weekend nights. We go to this place once or twice a year and that works pretty well for us. There’s a few ways to save a few $, has gift certs, happy hour tues-fri, and come in early to avoid a cover charge.

I came here on 6÷13÷14. This place is a complete waste of time and money! The cover charge wasn’t worth the experience and the music was bad(and loud). The worst part was the bartender. He somehow managed to mess up a Vodka Sprite, Rum Punch AND Amoretto Sour. I will never come here again.

I went out for a friend’s birthday party here and had a really good time. The music was pretty good, the table service was pretty good and I loved our section. The dance floor was packed but not in a claustrophobic way so I did not have to exchange words with anyone for brushing up on me. It was a fun night from what I remember!!!

Red Maple is a great go-to as a Mount Vernonite. I especially enjoy going to RM on Wednesday nights for international night, when I can enjoy salsa lessons, a belly dancer, a variety of music and awesome drinks(especially sangria) by Noël! On the weekends, it can be a bit pricey to enter(sometimes as much as $ 20! What? This is Baltimore.) So I would recommend going earlier and enjoying some low-key drinks in the beautiful lounge area before the masses come and the d-floor is totally packed. Haven’t tried the food here, so I’ll have to do it on my next trip.

This club has untapped potential. I have spent many nights here over the years. They play great music(different genres on different nights) and the sound system itself is pretty nice sounding. It’s a pretty small space for a club but it’s very well designed and classy looking :)

This is a great place to eat, drink, and party. I went on Friday night. We ordered the calamari which was good only if u dip it in the sauce that it came with. The seared scallops were delish. They had 2 different DJs that were taking turns throughout the night. I favored the DJ that played the hip hop and R&B. the other DJ played techno which I am not a big fan of. The thing I did not like about the place is that it’s too hard to make reservations. I had to call them like 10 times before I got ahold of anyone. Then when we arrive they had a computer error and lost our reservations. When I told them to double check, they found it and we were seated immediately. Overall great experience!

#88 3.5… Since Eden closed down. this is the place my friend has been coming to. My first time here wasn’t bad at all. In fact, as the night went on and on, the music got better and better. Less trance and more hip hop and reggaeton. I like the vibe and the modern look. The outdoor area with the lights were eye appealing. And the LED lights inside added a bit of color and pizazz to the place. I would hang out on the dance floor and less by the bar(of course, after snatching a drink ;)) as it tends to get crowded in that area. You’ll catch my back here again unless friends have found a place that plays more hip hop, which knowing my friend and the perserverence she has, she very may will. =p
