Great meal! We wandered in here yesterday and were immediately seated at the bar(per our request so we could watch the World Cup.) The staff seemed appreciative to have us. I should mention that we went this past Saturday which was Gay Pride. First, they had a booth set up outside and were selling rainbow cupcakes and what my wife called the«best cake pop I’ve ever had.» Now, they don’t normally serve cupcakes, but it was pride so we had to try them. Anyway, the food was really good. Unfortunately they don’t serve Thali here, as a vegetarian that is my go-to dish at Indian restaurants, but I pressed on. I ended up with a spicy veggie vindaloo, my wife got her cheese masala and we split garlic naan(to die for!) and veggie samosas. Yes, the inside is dated. If I was taking a date here it would’ve been a let-down. But my wife and I will go to the ends of the earth for a good meal and this was quite tasty. I just had the leftovers for lunch and they were even better the next day!

Not bad for indian food. Food: –lamb kebab: juicy and a decent portion. seasoned well –tikka masala sauce was okay, not the best –lamb korma: better than the tikka. rich flavor service: pretty bad… really slow at sitting us down and even when we got seats it woudl take forever for them to do ANYTHING. i’m not sure what was going on that day. but i saw the waiter just chilling when we were trying to call him over so while the food was pretty good, service ruined our experience there. food 3: service: 1.5 nothing special about the interior if you don’t mind the waiting, check it out, but there are better indian places like akbar

I ordered the lamb biriyani with extra spice and true to life… this thing was spicy. It was unexpected delicious and the owner was very accomodating. I ended up getting there early for my pickup order and the owner’s wife Mary offered chai tea while I waited for my pickup order. The buffet had samosas, momos, chicken tikka, chicken korma, saag, and other usual items.

Let me start by saying that for online ordering, this is one of the best food options around. After a long day of studying, my friends and I order online and the food never disappoints. The Butter Chicken is especially flavorful and manages to stay creamy even after being delivered or re-heated(portion sizes are usually pretty generous as well). The Garlic Naan compliments this dish well, making a great, easy to eat dinner. As far as food goes, I would definitely recommend this place. However, one issue my friends and I have had on more than one occasion has been getting the correct order through the online ordering system. For example, the last time we ordered the Onion Kulcha among other things, and it wasn’t included. This was a little disappointing because Onion Kulcha is also one of our favorites. Another time they only gave us one order of Butter Chicken after having paid for two, which they did ameliorate with a re-delivery. But let me be clear: as far as the food goes, we are very satisfied with Mughal Garden, it is only a few mis-deliveries that have slightly tarnished our experience.

I wanted to love this place. They had great service; everyone was very warm and friendly from the moment I entered the door and remained attentive until I left. However, as others on here have warned, the food on the lunch buffet is all lukewarm at best. This makes it extremely difficult to give this establishment even one star, but the excellent service deserves the bump. I had hoped that the chai at the end of the meal would bring some cheer, while it was hot, it tasted like dirt. So, home I go to make a cup of chai. Perhaps a visit from the beauty department is needed to convince Mughal Garden of the need to hold food at safe temperatures.

My absolute favorite Indian buffet in Baltimore. It’s not fancy or fussy and I probably wouldn’t come here on a dinner date — but the food is just delicious and homey and a no-brainer. The $ 10 lunch buffet includes all the sauces and curries, rice, samosas, nans, several kinds of chicken and 4 – 6 vegetable dishes include awesome chickpeas — there’s a ton of stuff and it’s all really yummy. Then, top it off with hot chai, kheer and the delicious gulab jamon donut-y things. What a deal!!!

Don’t eat here. The food doesn’t matter. Unlike most restaurants that have their trash emptied on a regular basis… these guys pay for ONCE A WEEK. The stench is HORRID. The whole neighborhood stinks, REEKS. Plus they leave a ten pound mound of sludge because he refuses to pay for the sweep service that every other food establishment does. Multiple people, businesses, etc, have asked him to change his policy. He ignores everyone. You’ll see the residents in the area buying bottles of bleach and pouring it around his dumpster to try and lessen the smell. PEOPLELIVEHERE. SOPLEASEDONOTPATRONIZETHISESTABLISHMENT.

Kebabs to die for! I enjoyed a variety of juicy, flavorful dished that left me coming back for more. If I lived closer to Baltimore I would make this a weekly visit. This place has a strong reputation and is always consistent with the quality of food. The service was amazing too. I heard that they can even make a mean cocktail but I have yet to try one. Can’t wait to go back!

After having a positive experience with Kumari’s lunch buffet across the street, I wanted to see how Mughal Garden stacked up to the competition. Overall, Kumari was slightly better. I don’t mean to suggest that Mughal Garden has subpar food. Quite to the contrary, the naan was fresh and went perfectly with Mughal’s raita sauce. The tandoori chicken was good, and I tried gulab jamun for the first time(I quite enjoyed it). Mughal’s deficiencies arose from non-food issues. First, the bowls they set out to be used with the kheer were far too shallow. Second, the waiters were inattentive to collecting used/dirty dishes off of the table. Third, several of the table clothes were stained(this seems like an easy fix: don’t use white table cloths). Overall, Mughal Garden provides an adaquate lunch buffet. However, since Kumari is right across the street, is the same price, and has a slightly larger selection of food, I probably won’t be back to Mughal.

Reviewing for their delivery/takeout, which is available through GrubHub. Important: delivered at precisely the time it was reported to be delivered. Perfect. The dude was — forgive the word choice, but — jolly. Also, the order came in a paper bag that had handles. It may seem like a minor detail, but that’s awesome when you have a few things resting in that bag. Torn plastic or ripped paper? End of a perfectly good meal. The entrees come with an entire container’s worth of rice each. I thought for a second I had gotten some things by accident. That’s awesome if only because I get more meals from the order. Veggie vindaloo! Oh, fantastic. It’s a rarity, for one thing, and it was actually mouth-tingling-ly spicy. I will order again. And probably ask for it extra spicy to appease my masochistic tongue. Unfortunately, the palak paneer was bland. The paneer are good and toothy, but the spinach is greasy, not creamy, and doesn’t have spice to it. I’m not even talking piquant spice. Just flavor. Would never order that again, which is sad. Usually that’s a favorite. Glad we opted to try two different things… The mango lassi was good — not too thin or too thick, richly mango in flavor with an aftertaste of the rose. It’s nice to see a place actually make it with rosewater. I’m curious to try the other varieties. I’ve only had mango and plain before.

Normally I pay closer attention to the details of my dining experiences but honestly, I didn’t notice anything except for the delicious spread of Indian cuisine. I ate as much as I could before my stomach could get the message to my brain that I was full. It was awesome… And then I didn’t eat anything for the rest of the day. I was still stuffed when I went to bed that night. Stuffed and happy. Can’t beat the price for the quality of food you get. The waiters were pretty quick with taking away plates and since it was a serve yourself deal I’d say ‘myself’ did an excellent job at that. All in all I was a satisfied customer. I will definitely be back.

Large dining room, strangely decorated — not much like other Indian restaurants but below average décor and ambiance. The food makes up for the dull surroundings. The mixed grill comes with a platter of meat and a veg. korma dish. Our server brought us a dal on the house as well! We also ordered a bhindi masala. All the food was spicy and tasty, a tad oily but that seems standard for Indian restaurants. We ordered a mango lassi(delicious) and a heavy seas gold ale — their tap needed cleaning, so the heavy seas had some residue. Once we pointed this out to the server, he was eager to help us. My husband just ordered another beer. The service was a bit slow for Indian restaurants — the food took over ½ hr to come out of the kitchen but for the large space, there were only 2 servers — if the kitchen was understaffed in a similar way, it would make sense. It took a while to get our waiter’s attention every time. But he was very pleasant once he actually showed up. Overall, strange ambiance, good food, slow service.

I had gotten take-out from Mughal Garden before and wasn’t a big fan. I re-tried it with and per request of a friend, and I’m glad I did, because… I had the most amazing Bhindi Masala(okra cooked with onions)!!! Seriously. It was fantastic. The rice wasn’t bad, but it was very plain. The décor is a bit odd, like a trying-to-be-fancy diner, but the service was very good. Apparently they always have groupon or similar deals [which I wasn’t aware of at the time], so make sure you check on that before you go!

I am not sure if I should rate Mughal Garden in Baltimore 2 or 3 stars. The service was pretty pathetic. There were only 3 people working the floor on a busy weekend night when the restaurant was full with about 8 parties waiting. One server, one busser, one host/bartender/manager. The host seemed to be trying to dissuade us from waiting, but this place was our evening’s destination and we were sticking to it. Host would not take out name or hand out drinks, even though most of us waiting were sitting at the actual bar. I used the restroom while waiting & it was nice… After we were seated, we sat for likely 15 minutes(I wish I had timed it) before we were asked for our orders or given chaat… We also had another long frustrating wait for the check and again for our credit card back. The fried appetizers were very good– samosa or similar. The dessert — pudding was gross. The chicken tikka masala was bad. As in — tastes like frozen dinner bad. As in, an American woman of obvious Indian descent nearby who was eating with her obviously Indian international visitors was loudly voicing the same opinion. It was my hypothesis that she was quite embarrassed to host her friends at the Mughal Garden. I also hypothesized that the restaurant was so busy they the ran out of chicken tikka and ended up serving something that had not cooked long enough. This literally tasted of raw tomato paste. Ok, I have gone on long enough about that sad entrée. On a brighter note, the lamb korma was very delicious. And the rice was good too! In conclusion: poor service, some good food, some very bad food. We will not return.

I grew up eating authentic Indian food and have had my fair share of disappointing Indian restaurant experiences, but I can say that this place is awesome and so legit every time I go… probably my 10th time now. The food is always fresh, tasty(doesn’t need a ridiculous amount of oil or butter), and the staff are friendly. Tonight, my boyfriend and I had the Indian feast for two and everything was perfect starting from the naan to the tandoori chicken. I also had the mango lassi which was very refreshing. I have been to their lunch buffet and it is just as great. So all in all, go here and check out how much better it is than all the other places in Mount Vernon!

I haven’t had Indian food for a long time, but Mughal Garden has just the right amount of stuff and it hit the spot today. The lunch buffet is pretty darn worth it – 11 bucks on the weekends(I believe it’s cheaper on the weekdays) — with all the expected staple Indian cuisine items. I especially like their goat curry and the tandoori chicken. They also have a station where a person mans it and makes some items from scratch(not sure what it’s called, but it looked like an Indian version of a quesadilla today and it was okay). Overall, Mughal Garden is pretty worth it for the price you pay.

It’s got to be tough to be an Indian restaurant in this neck of the woods — seems like there’s about 4 – 5 different options within few block span, not to mention awesomeness that is The Helmand! Tried Mughal Garden using a $ 50 LivingSocial deal and was pleasantly surprised with both the food and courteous service we recieved. Definitely doesn’t look like much when first entering, as the interior’s pretty expansive, dated and boring(and during our first visit, almost completely empty) — but who really cares when the food tastes good? Tried the saag paneer, fish curry, and tandoori platter, all of which were flavorful and well-seasoned, and served in satisfying portions(enough for leftovers, for which the gave us an extra plate of rice — bonus points). The highlight of the meal may have been the vegetable of the day accompanying the tandoori platter, which happened to be a bowl of vegetable korma. This stuff was amazing, and even as an avid meateater, I would have been perfectly content just downing a big bowl of that deliciousness for a meal. Will be returning to check out the weekend $ 10.95 buffet…

We came with a Groupon in-hand, they sold 1,000 of them… They even had a special menu, with a good choice selection. From that we could choose one appetizer, two entrees and one desert for the $ 20 Groupon. What a deal! Everything came out hot and fresh for sure! The vegetable appetizer was a nice mix of Pekoras and Samosa… I have to say, the Tandoori chicken entrée was one of the best I’ve ever had. They also brought a tray of the Tikka Masala sauce to dip it in. Alternatively; the Saag Paneer was a bitter and nearly unedible, it seemed like it had too much Mustard Greens. But then, when I reheated my Saag leftovers the next day, it was perfect. This tells me the Saag needs to be cooked a bit longer before serving… This was my first time back here since the new ownership(4 years), but I can say there has been a noticeable improvement in the food quality.

For downtown Baltimore this is one of the better Indian restaurants. The lunch buffet has a good variety of dishes and it is reasonably priced($ 10). The grilled meats are the best, particularly the tandoori chicken and the lamb have a nice grilled flavor. I have tried the grilled meats(grilled meat platter) during dinner and the quality and portions are also really good. The chicken korma was average to below average given it tasted overcooked. The pakoras(fried vegetables) were also disappointing since they are too battered and soggy. The wait staff is excellent! They are super attentive and very friendly. However the ambience is tacky — too many halogen lights, seats and tables are outdated and the paintings are not that attractive. In sum, Mughal Garden is 4 stars for Baltimore, 3 stars compared to the Indian restaurants in Cerritos, CA.
