Amazing vegetarian options. I loved the vegan reuben. I asked allowed if I ordered the meat reuben because of the texture but I was assured that they didn’t have that as an option. It was tasty and delicious! My friends loved the angus burger and venison stew. We also enjoyed trying the Dangerously Delicious slices of pie for dessert. It is a little loud but I didn’t have to shout. The place was more quiet before 8pm for dinner and after that it is louder and more folks were drinking. The food wasn’t too rich and the waiter didn’t rush us but were also super responsive. The spot is a bit hipster but not pretentious.

I feel dirty giving a place that tries to cater to everyone, including annoying vegans such as myself, only 2 stars but this place was really lackluster. I am not sure what a gastropub really is, but I assume they would pride themselves in their food. My girlfriend and I got the tofu waffle sandwich thing and the tempeh Reuben. The tofu waffle sandwich was exactly that, a huge chunk of breaded cooked tofu between two what seemed like toasted frozen waffles with some sauce. If it sounds bland, it’s because it is. My tempeh Reuben was mediocre at best. Like I said before I appreciate the effort, and I’m not the pickiest eater except for the whole vegan thing, but it just wasn’t very good. It’s right near the busy 34th Street so finding parking was close to a miracle. I’d be willing to give this place another shot in the distant future.

Younger crowd. We had the venison stew and shrimp with grits. Both were outstanding. Staff was very friendly.

Had high hopes, especially since there were gluten free options. The gf was minimal, but better than nothing! The waitress acted as if it killed her to wait tables and was uninterested in answering any questions. I asked her for a recommendation and she had nothing to say, then I asked whether something was good and she shrugged her shoulders and said«I guess.» She didn’t even say her name, so I have no idea who she was, maybe that’s her plan. The service was awful. Don’t go if you have kids — there isn’t a changing table and no kid’s menu. They can make a $ 7 grilled cheese for a kid, but that’s it and anything else would all be full price. I ordered mushrooms and grits — terrible! It was goopy grits with whole, uncut, huge mushrooms dumped on top. It was basically a plate of weird mushrooms with hardly any grits. Also ordered the beet and goat cheese salad for $ 9. It was a very small plate with crumbed bits of goat cheese — which was hardly anything. I couldn’t even taste the cheese! Lastly, there was a 20% gratuity added on without warning!!! We had four adults at the table and they automatically added a tip for HORRIBlE service! I even had to ask the bartender to find our waitress to being the check! Disappointing!!!

I had the chicken and waffle gravy — brunch menu. The waffle was great and the chicken with gravy was very tasty. The egg on top gave it a different flavor. But was equally as good.

If you are under 35 years old and dress like a neglected grandma, have 80% of your body covered in tattoos, a huge beard or man bun try this place out, otherwise skip it. I have tried this place a few times and always leave annoyed because the service takes for ever, or we don’t get service at all. If you don’t order a PBR you basically get a look of death. Food here is okay, defiantly overhyped though. Try golden west for the same amount of «hipsterness» with decent service/food.

FORBALTIMORE this is pretty good. The food is ok. yes it all could be better but you’re in fucking hamden. This isn’t bushwick or boston or some city with real culture. Shit, people in baltimore think natty boh qualifies as a beer and they eat shit-eating scavenger crabs proudly. If you have read about the pollution issues in the chesapeake bay you will come to understand how those environmental issues have a majorly deleterious effect on the intellectual capability of the people in the area. Ambiance in the place is decent. Extra star cus they put up decent art on the walls — which is really nice. Not crap bullshit spewed out by ¾ of the MICA crowd– what I’ve seen has some real character and skill and talent behind it. I’ll go back. One of baltimore’s best. Sorry. Good for baltimore vegan food.

Rocket is a pretty decent Hampden spot for dinner. The food is good, nothing crazy but it’s good. Their Bahn Mi and Korean Gyros are two go-to plates. The one thing that really hold this place back is the service. Most of the servers just really don’t care; they will almost never split checks and will allow almost no menu changes/substitutions. I’m not crazy picky so I’m talking about really simple requests that they will deny and say«the kitchen won’t let me do that.» It’s really unfortunate because based on the food and location alone I’d probably rate it closer to a 5.

I’ve been to Rocket a handful of times to eat and I’m never really blown away. Don’t get me wrong, the food isn’t terrible, I just have never really been that impressed. I think it’s neat that their menu changes and is creative, but they always seem to miss the mark. When I go here later in the night to meet up with friends for drinks, I have no complaints. Bartenders are nice and make your drinks quickly.

Good place overall! Go earlier though if you are more interested in the food than the bar scene. The menu is often updated and interesting. The drinks and service is great!

Such good food!!! The fried chicken and waffles was amazing and so was the grilled cheese. Super laid back environment with a trendy interior and good music. Also a really extensive dessert menu and a really big bar.

Is Rocket to Venus a hipster bar? well, if you judge it by the bartenders, maybe, but those same bartenders know what they’re doing, they make a mean set of cocktails and are right there when you need them. From behind a large horseshoe bar, some very delicious cocktails are created along with a great tasting and reasonably priced food menu. Is it hipster to use quality ingredients, fresh squeezed juices and hand made preparations? Maybe, but who cares when they create this level of mixology, this level of food fare. It’s a big space, with more room outside and an overall friendly atmosphere and clientele, so if being an inviting neighbourhood bar with great food is hipster, then so be it, I can put up with a few eye rolls for all that.

Rocket to Venus has a unique vibe. I enjoy both the indoor and outdoor seating. Burger specials on Mondays, wing specials on Tuesdays. Try those deals out. The drink menu is extensive, you’ll surely find something that tickles your fancy. Cocktails have a generous pour; I’ve never felt like they went light on the liquor. Brunch is good here. I had the chicken and waffles which were tasty, but the chicken needs some work because it was a bit dry. Waitstaff and bartenders are pleasant and attentive.

We stopped in last night after our plan to eat at another place was foiled by the Nats/O’s game. Always on the lookout for places with solid vegetarian options, a quick scan of Rocket to Venus’ menu had me intrigued. Our server told us that the Fried Tofu and Waffle sandwich had only been on the menu for a couple of weeks and it had gotten rave reviews. I see why — it was amazing! A crispy, fried tofu slab covered in your choice of sauce(I picked buffalo, and the dude chose sweet and spicy) and piled onto a Belgian waffle-triangle sandwich; it was unique and divine. Some good beers on tap — I had trouble deciding between the Bell’s IPA and the Allagash but settled on the latter, and it went great with the sandwich. Our server(didn’t catch his name) was fantastic. Four stars because I wish they had just a few more veggie options on the menu, but we can’t wait to come back.

Very hipster place with a varied menu. We were a group of four, including two vegetarians, and there was adequate choice for all of us. The burger was delicious, though the fries disappointed slightly. Veggie wimpies went down well and the side salad was great. There was a good selection of beers too and prices were fine. Service was fine too. Overall, decent establishment, nothing fancy, but good choice and prices.

This place was crowded at 7:15pm on a Tuesday night. I thought that was weird, but apparently they have a decent happy hour with a wing special on Tuesdays. I figured that by busyness equalled yummy food and good service, but it didn’t quite measure up. I had the chicken and dumplings, and my fiancé had the Banh Mi. The dumplings were not cooked all the way through, and there were only two in the whole bowl. Everything in the bowl was pretty much the same shade of white or brown, and it definitely would have benefitted from a little color. The Banh Mi was much more appetizing, and was a much better dish. I was pretty disappointed in the Berger cookie pie we had for dessert. Normally, I’ll pretty much eat any dessert I order, but this, it wasn’t worth the calories. Perhaps their other pies are better, but overall, this doesn’t seem like a go-to place for dinner. Our server was only around sporadically, and we went awhile without drink refills, and waiting for our check. Everything was also a little grimy. Not to the point where I was grossed out, but a decent rag and some cleaner would go a long way here. This place could really benefit from a remodel. We had to wait for a table, but the furniture is so large, and it’s not really laid out very well. They could fit in a ton more people if they had a change in layout. They also have a decent sized front patio, so it may be a good place to hang out and get a drink on a summer evening or afternoon. I’ll try it sometime and let you know!

Been here a couple times and had a great experience! The bartender(his name was Matt i think) was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive to all our needs! Food was incredibly flavorful and the serving size was generous! Jukebox was killer too! We will definately be back

Cool artsy diner with a solid brunch menu. Pros Cool art from local artists that regularly changes Booth seating Covered outdoor patio(smoking area?) Nice staff Seasonal and evolving menu with creative dishes Good prices Cons Basic, boring sides What I got Coconut french toast with a side of fruit $ 9 My friend got the bahn mi breakfast sandwich with side of fries $ 11 What I thought I came in here at noon on Saturday with a friend. Their brunch starts at 12, so there were only a couple tables filled with people. The service was great. Our server was attentive and friendly. My coconut french toast looked beautiful. Coconut crusted baguettes with crème fraîche and strawberry compote. Since french toast is usually made with soft bread, I initially thought that baguettes would be too hard. They were slightly crunchy to eat, but I didn’t mind. I wasn’t impressed by the fruit side; it looked precut and tasted not very fresh. My friend’s breakfast bahn mi sandwich was a great spin on a Vietnamese classic. I had a bite of my friend’s dish, and the scrambled egg(or tofu) really makes it a brunch item. I had a good dining experience and I recommend their brunch.

Great place, great service, great food. Came in early to meet with a friend for brunch, loved the throwback retro design and feel of the space. Plenty of booths, tables and hipsters everywhere. Immediately sat down and ordered some of the freshest, strongest coffee I’ve had since hitting the east coast. Ended up ordering the maccaroni and cheese as an appetizer and splitting it with a friend. Although really delicious(with crunchy breadcrums, bits of olives and peppers, that was new), I would have loved to have more cheese sauce on there. But the highlight was the delicious pork cheesesteak sandwich. Delicious, fresh chopped pork, fresh(not canned) cheesesauce, fresh baked bread, deliciously sauteed mushrooms and onions and fresh cut french fries that were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Absolutely in love with the order, and our waiter, who was amazing and gave us plenty of time and space to sit around and catch up for over an hour. Great restaurant. Actually cannot wait to get back and do it again.

Hmm. I liked this place. I’d probably rate it a solid 3.5. I wasn’t sure if I should round up or down, but decided to round up because I really loved my burger. Went here for happy hour on a Monday at 5:30 and the bar seat were all almost full. When you walk in it is a little overwhelming because everyone in there just seems so darn cool. Hipsters galore, and my outfit was very prim and proper that day, so I definitely did not plan that accordingly. The bartender was OK. He got the job done, but he wasn’t super friendly; seemed«too cool for school,» and not into small talk. He was all business. I had to ask what the small beers that people had were, [he didn’t seem like he was going to offer up that knowledge to me] and learned that happy hour offers 3 small beers for $ 4, which is a killer deal and is a fun way to try different options that they have on tap. I think they have about 7 – 8 choices and on Monday night they had some interesting things: run of the mill choices like natty boh and stella, and then some craft beers and cider and even mead. Apparently Monday night is burger night where they offer a $ 5 Angus or veggie burger! And this was not your average burger. It was huge, juicy, grilled to medium-rare perfection and topped with your choice of cheese, lettuce, tomato and a pickle. I would go back over and over again for this burger. And on top of all of that goodness, you can upgrade your side from fries to brussel sprouts for only 2 bucks! A lot of things on the menu looked good to me: pierogis, mac and cheese, etc. so I’d go back again for happy hour and try something else.
