This is a great place to buy high quality audio equipment. I bought five speakers and a receiver from them and was satisfied by not only the audio system, but the service throughout the buying experience. These guys definitely know their stuff and will talk your ear off on all sorts of audiophile topics to ensure you get the right setup for you. Definitely a refreshing experience compared to similar places that treat you like it’s a privilege to step into their store. They were not only helpful throughout the process, but went above any beyond on multiple occasions to ensure I was satisfied, which I definitely appreciated. I would recommend Soundscape for any hifi audio purchase.

I recently purchased a pair of Polk RTi A3s in the Cherry finish, so I thought I would update my review. I was again assisted by Ed. This was the third time I had come to the store, and I wanted to hear the speakers one more time before I made my final decision. Ed was more than happy to play them for me, and auditioned them with both music and movies using a receiver most similar to the one I owned(some shops will play moderately priced speakers using ultra high end amps to make them sound better, only to leave the customer disappointed upon setting them up at home). I can’t say enough about the customer service I received. After deciding to purchase the speakers, Ed thoroughly discussed wiring options with me and strongly advised I purchase about 5 feet more speaker wire than I thought I needed after I told him where the speakers would be placed. After returning home to set up the speakers, he was definitely correct with his advice. Without the 5 extra feet, I would have returned to buy more wire, but because of his expertise, I purchased the correct amount. Their wire was also priced competitively. I love the sound of my speakers, and I can’t speak highly enough of Soundscape. I will without a doubt return to Soundscape for all of my audio needs!

It’s a very good local sound shop. I seem to buy something here every 3 – 5 years or so, so yeah … it’s been around awhile. Lately I’ve been in the market for a solid sutround set-upand AV receiver. After listening to a few systems, I settled on Goldenear Tech speakers; 10x better than something like Bose Lifestyle systems, yet not unaffordably high end … perfect for my needs and budget. I always get info furst, then sleep on it, do a little more internet research on reviews, etc., and then call back asking for a better than msrp price. They gladly discounted all items lower than what Gramaphone was willing to offer, so I immediately made my purchase. When I went to pick up my order after the sale, I was speaking audio to Ed for probably an hour or so … as long as there isn’t a customer or pressing store related matter to address, they’ll talk your ear off sharing their vast audio knowledge, experience and advice. On receivers, while they have some nice options, most are available over the internet for *substantially* lower prices. I eventually settled on a Pioneer Elite SC-63 which floats somewhere around $ 1300 at best Buy but I picked up from an Amazon retailer for $ 775. Definitely not a HTIB type of store, but if you’re looking for junk or can only afford a few hundrred bucks, Best Buy might be a more suitable option.

It’s been a while since I’ve been in this store. I have my stereo system set up the way I want it… for now. Keep in mind, this is a store for audiophiles. If you’re looking for a complete surround system in a single box and you don’t care about how it sounds, then don’t come here. Not everyone is an audiophile and I respect that. This place will let you audition whatever equipment your heart desires. I know it’s the day of iPods and iPhones. Nevertheless, if you want to check out some of their quality merchandise, I recommend bringing a couple of CDs that you know by heart. I remember when I did this to audition a pair of speakers, I was completely shocked. Not only did it sound like I was in the studio with the band, but I actually could hear a drum in the recording that I had never noticed before. That’s the difference a quality sound system can make! And this is the place to get it in Baltimore!

Nice little high end stereo shop in Roland Park. Not nearly as snotty as many of their competitors, who seem to size you up the second you enter the door. Still, it is high end in price, so be prepared. Generally they are quite willing to let you audition equipment to your heart’s content, which I appreciate.
