Gr8 atmosphere. Beware of the bartender with the white spot on the back of his head, he’s a little slow

Pretty standard bar. It’s limited in terms of seating and when it’s busy due to the placement of the bar, it’s a struggle to get in the front door. Bartenders are hit and miss. Some are great and others not so much. We come in here every once in a while. Food is standard bar food. I wouldn’t say it’s anything to write home about.

I love this place. Drinks are very reasonable. Bar staff is wonderful. Food is good. Try the blackened chicken pizza or the seafood wrap. The honey old bay wings are good too! It’s laid back. Jukebox for music. Thursday’s is all night happy hour. Friday’s 10pm to close is all you can drink for $ 25. It’s not fancy. It’s a bar. I call it a dive. But I still love it. Check it out.

Other reviews highlight the great weekly happy hour specials and I can certainly attest to that. I believe the vast majority of non-seafood appetizers are $ 5 – 7, mixed drinks were half-off, and pizzas were $ 8 last Wednesday. I started off with the artichoke and goat cheese dip, while the menu does specify it comes with marinara sauce and toast points I didn’t expect there to be so much marinara sauce. The toast points were more like a Texas toast style garlic bread versus points as well. The dip was fine but I wasn’t expecting something so heavy and buttery out of an artichoke based dip. I ordered a lemon drop martini that was just entirely too strong, an entire shot and a half of simple syrup couldn’t redeem this drink. The waitress was gracious enough to take it off the bill, but she did comment that the menu specifies what’s it in it… I know what’s in a lemon drop I order it all the time I’ve just never had one quite like that… Judging by the 1 maybe 2 other cocktails(one being an old fashioned) listed I’d say cocktails aren’t this places thing, which pretty much eliminates my urge to ever drink here. The blackened salmon entrée was considerably better than my previous items. Rice was cooked well, vegetables were crisp and fresh. There was a pinch of too salt over everything but that was easily balanced out by adding more pepper. Good value for certain items, but I don’t see myself returning.

Decent bar food. Service was good. Would return. Duck confit pizza was sweet and salty. Perfect with a Natty Bo. Wife had the salmon wrap. Heavy on the dressing. Seafood requires just a little help for flavor, but shouldn’t be masked by mayo or any other addition. Would return for pizza and drinks.

I’ve been back a few times since I wrote my original review. The place has grown on a me a little bit. Definitely try to make it out for HH if you can, their deals are pretty good. The staff has always been nice with reasonable service depending on how busy it gets.

Leaves much to be desired. We stopped in for lunch in the middle of the week. This location has been several different restaurants in the past few years. Naturally I wanted to try a new spot in canton. For being one of the few places on the square open for lunch, it was completely empty. After speaking to the bartender, Lacey I can see why. She was extremely rude and made it seem like it was a bother for us to be there. I most likely won’t return and unfortunately it had nothing to do with the food. It’s a shame that one employee has the ability to ruin the experience.

This place is solid. Tavern on the Square is a small tavern on Canton square that is more or less a bar and restaurant hybrid. Definitely on the older side, but not noticeably unclean. I can see this place getting busy on game nights. This place isn’t exactly fancy, but it probably doesn’t have to be — this is Baltimore. The brunch I had here was excellent. I had the steak and eggs, and both were absolutely perfect. The steak was to die for — perfectly seasoned. The potatoes were a bit basic, but that’s not surprising given that they are potatoes. The bottomless mimosas and sangria were super sweet and tasty, but didn’t seem to be lacking in the alcohol department. All in all, good stuff.

This is based on the Mac and cheese only. I stopped in on a bar crawl(but no, I wasn’t belligerent or completely hammered). I was hungry. Really hungry. The vibe was definitely casual modern so I figured I would try out something on the menu. My better half basically eats only dino nuggets and plain and dry everything which is a damn shame since I love pretty much all food(though Indian and Thai I don’t praise like the rest of the world). After years of making my own mac and cheese, and sampling it from dive bars to fancier new american restaurants, I think I’m a fair judge. Well let me tell you this was so oddly flavored. It wasn’t what I expected. And not in a good way. It was seasoned with something I have no idea what because there weren’t visible herbs and spices in the dish. It haunted my palette long after I guzzled down two waters trying simply to fill up my growling stomach. I would perhaps go back but it’s unlikely as the Canton crowd isn’t my favorite these days. No offense to the kitchen but what the hell. I am all for bacon, bechamel, breadcrumbs, whatever but not what was in my food on 1⁄17. At 6 pm.

One of my favorites on the square! Good good, good drinks, and great people. This is my usual stop for a work happy hour if I am looking for a bar stool. Great happy hour, and good selection of beers. I like their chicken sandwhich and appetizers. They also host larger groups if you call ahead!

Came here for dinner on a weeknight with my husband and a friend. We shared a pitcher of red sangria, which was the first surprise — it was huge, like a beer pitcher, not your normal carafes. The sangria tasted good and had chunks of apples I was a little disappointed by the selection on the menu. I felt like there was a good selection of sandwiches and pizzas, but I wanted something more for dinner. I ordered the spicy shrimp penne. The shrimp was tender and the pasta cooked well, all mixed in with a spicy tomato sauce. Nothing special, but it was good.

Best fries in the city. I’ve been here for lunch a couple times. Both times, sat at the bar and the service was friendly. Huge bar and great happy hour specials. Today they featured $ 1 Sangrias and at 1pm the place was full of Ravens fans. I had the soup here(chicken) and previously tried the crab bisque. Both were served hot and good. The chicken today was not great, but good. I tried a pizza(cheese) and got it child-size. It was a huge service though! So delicious. Great crispy crust. Lots of gooey cheese. I’ll be here again and try the dinner some day!

I was looking for a place to host a little dinner party(table of 15 people) and I decided to give tavern on the square a shot because I love their food and atmosphere. I talked to Don(the manager of this restaurant) and he was extremely helpful setting up our rez. The table was ready when we arrived and we had Julia as our server. She was incredible– extremely friendly and quick to get everyone’s drinks even when people strolled in after we had already sat. She got everyone’s orders perfect and the food came out quick and tasty. I crushed some fish tacos and had a bit of my friends wild boar burito(so good!) They also had live music the whole time we were there. It was a really outstanding experience. I highly suggest this place for any size group.

Visiting Baltimore for a few days so a friend of mine decided to bring me here for dinner. Located in the Canton area kind of hidden in a nice little square of shops and restaurants. We walked in and the bartender immediately got my attention when she told me «You’ve got 3 minutes to before half off drinks are over what do you want?» I ordered two and they weren’t bad, but for half off on a Wednesday I wasn’t too worried to be honest. That’s certainly a worthy happy hour deal if I’ve ever seen one. The place was pretty empty but the food was fulfilling. I was starving so I ordered the Duck Confit pizza as well as the Roast Beef Grinder. Destroyed them both. The crust on the pizza was especially delicious. They were both very solid compared to what I was expecting, but seemed like items that you would only want to eat while still hot(which wasn’t a problem for me. I have to say I was pleasantly pleased by the visit here and the service was good as well.

I don’t head over to Canton nearly as often as I should. For brunch one morning, some friends and I decided to meet up at Tavern on the Square in Canton. I had been there before for dinner and they have some great sandwiches so I was looking forward to trying their brunch options. At Tavern on the Square, in addition to their brunch menu, they also offer their regular menu which is great because there are so many options! We were seated right away which was awesome and we put in two appetizer orders right away. As a table we decided to share the Bursting Onion. It was served with spicy ranch, the spicy ranch just tasted like ranch with some hot sauce mixed in, it was nothing special. The outside of the onion was nice and crispy and evenly fried, however the middle pieces were a little bit soggy and undercooked. It maybe would have been better with a few more minutes in the fryer. We also decided to share an order of the Fried Guacamole and Chips. This was an interesting dish that we all liked a lot. And it was different than other things we had seen on menus. One of my friends ordered the Breakfast Skillet which was potatoes, bacon and cheese with eggs layered on top. I’ve had an awesome breakfast skillet before at The Point in Fells, this was not that. This dish was hands down the oiliest egg dish I’ve ever seen before and in fact it was inedible due to the grease factor. The fried items we ordered before this were less oily. One of my other friends decided to order the Roast Beef Grinder. It was roast beef, balsamic onions, cheese and horseradish cream. My friend really enjoyed this sandwich, but said it was nothing special and probably wouldn’t order it again. Another friend tried the Chicken Fajita Wrap. She loved this. It was nothing special, grilled chicken, peppers, onions and cheese with salsa on the side. But the flavors combined very well and was probably the best thing that anyone in our group ordered. My favorite type of meat is Bison, and recently I’ve really been into cheesesteaks(Brewers Cask and No Idea to name a few). But when I saw a Bison ‘Philly’ Cheesesteak on the menu, I knew it would be exactly what I wanted. The roll was loaded with bison, onion, peppers and cheese wiz. This was awesome and one of the better cheesesteaks I’ve had. It was definitely comparable to the awesome one at Brewers Cask. Each of the sandwiches came with a side of Fries. The fries were really awesome and a little different than your standard french fry. In terms of the brunch options at Tavern on the Square, we were unimpressed. However the sandwiches were pretty great and I can’t wait to head back over to Canton to try some more of their great options.

Tavern is one of my favorite places for cheap AND tasty eats. Their happy hour specials are great(25% off food and ½ drinks with some exclusions). Make sure you go on Thursdays when Happy Hour prices are honored all night! The atmosphere is that of a typical bar and it tends to be really noisy, but get there early to grab a table outside for a quieter dinner. I recommend the chicken fajita wrap and nut crusted chicken sandwich! And don’t skip out on the fries, they are the best part!!!

I hate when restaurants put things on their menu and make them sound all fancy, and really it ends up just being pizza. Here, it’s the baked goat cheese dip. Don’t let it fool you! The black bean hummus tasted mostly of garlic, and there was way too much hummus and not nearly enough vehicles to deliver hummus to my mouth. Needs a little better balance. The drinks here are way overpriced. A tiny, half-filled champagne glass for $ 10? No thanks.
