Awesome crab tostadas. Cool staff. The lobster rolls are quality but a but pricey. Avoid the coney island fries.

First off, I’m from California. I heard/read about pit beef in Baltimore but I had no idea what it was. On our way to Obrycki’s, off the Circulator, we saw this small joint with pit beef on the side. A bunch of thinly cut medium cooked beef between two pieces of bun. Our condiments were bbq sauce and horse radish. Definitely a unique combination never before seen in California… and I have to say… I loved the combination.

We got off the bus and my cousin noticed that The Silver Platter has Pit Beef. He read somewhere that the east coast is known for Pit Beef. But we did not know what it was and wanted to try it. We ordered the Pit Beef. The Pit Beef was a few slabs of beef between two buns. The beef was cooked medium, I can still see some pink on the meat. It was the first time I tried Pit Beef and it was pretty good.

My girlfriend and I stumbled upon the Silver Platter on Central Ave while walking around Harbor East. I’m new to the food truck scene, and I enjoyed the gourmet theme down to the faux-silver plastic forks. I had the pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw, which is a specialty from what I gather. It was excellent– spicy and flavorful without being too dry or too wet. She had the crab tostada, which was a bit bland and largely unremarkable, unfortunately. I’d love to try more of their menu– next time I’m in Baltimore, I’d love to track them down.

We went to The Silver Platter yesterday. It was good! I LOVED the Firecracker Shrimp. The Lobster Roll was totally different than what I expected – lots of flavor, not bland and mayo-ey at all! The Coney Island Fries were awesome, too. It’s a little pricey, but it’s worth every penny. I will go back next time I’m in Baltimore during the day!
