This place is truly a hidden gem! HIGHLY recommend. Don’t go here when you’re hangry though, because the food took a while, BUT it was so worth the wait. Also, a bit spicy, so prepare yourself! or request less-spicy if that’s more your speed.

To be fair, this review has nothing to do with the food from Thousand Kabobs. I wouldn’t be able to comment on that at all. I placed an order online around 7pm tonight. It’s now 9:50pm. I’ve called the restaurant multiple times and nobody answers, even though they are supposed to be open until 10pm. With other good options for Indian food in the area, I don’t see any reason to bother trying this place again.

Ok most people probably come here for the traditional Pakistani dishes, but I love the burgers/fries from this place. The fries are super crunchy, and since i’d consider myself a fry connoisseur, I would give these fries 2 thumbs up. The burgers(I’ve had both the chicken and beef) are moist and juicy and overall delicious. The burger meat has some added Pakistani spices which gives it an interesting and unexpected twist! Plus they deliver(rather quickly… 20 – 30 minutes is the longest I’ve waited) and are super nice(both the delivery guy and the cashier lady)! this is my new go-to for some unhealthy indulgence(which happens way more often than it should these days). I’ve also had their naan which is great, the chanay which is okay, and their samosas, which weren’t greasy enough for my liking(but still good!). The prices are also very reasonable!

I think Thousand Kabob on Liberty Street in Baltimore is A– OK. It is not worth making this place a destination from my home, so I probably will not return. That said, if I worked nearby, I would probably be ecstatic for its presence! When asked it we like it spicy, we said, «yes, pretty spicy.» Of out three dishes, only one seemed have any heat at all. This is not to say it wasn’t good, as it was tasty. The saag was quite bitter, the jalfrezi tasted canned, and the haleem was our favorite. All were improved when topped with the ginger, herbs, tomato, and lemon condiments given in a little plastic cup separately. The naan was good, but after one bite, I had no interest in eating more of the roti. We were taken completely off guard by the fact that rice is not included with anything. Luckily, I had some prepared in my refrigerator. The portions of everything were large and the price was n-i-c-e.

It seems this place is getting mixed reviews of either«love it» or «hate it.» Our experience was right down the middle. Ok, nothing too bad or too good. And that’s the problem. With so many good Indian places around(Lumbini, Mughal Garden, etc.) being«ok» doesn’t work. While prices were good, you had to order rice separately, which seemed odd. We had the chana masal, somosas, naan, rice, and a few other vegetable dishes. None of the dishes had a distinct heat or flavor. Not bad, just won’t be going back.

LoML and I are extremely, EXTREMELY disappointed in this place. The disappointment stems from the fact that some of the food we’d tried actually was pretty damned decent, and we’d thought we lucked out on a new spot to get our Indian on. WRONG! We ordered the following: — Vegetable rolls. These were actually really, really good. Crispy with a nice, well-cooked filling. We really enjoyed them. — Samosas. The outer shell was crispy, the filling nice and soft with a good balance of potato and pea. The mint sauce was shockingly hot — and delicious. — Kheer. LoML got this and reported that it was sweet, creamy and thick — not wallpaper paste thick but the exact consistency he enjoyed. Here’s where the review plummets to one star — and one is really being generous, considering. The attached photograph is a picture of LoML skimming off grease and oil from the chicken tikka masala — and believe me, there was PLENTYMORE where that came from. The dish was NOTHING but grease — it was absolutely the most disgusting thing we’ve ever seen, and we’re delivery order aficionados. I ordered the same dish, and mine was the exact same way. Nothing but grease, and oil, and fat. There were maybe 4 pieces of meat in the bowl, TOTAL — everything else was sauce and grease. I was absolutely FURIOUS. How dare they charge eleven dollars for this disgusting thing??? The picture, friends, says it all. It’s absolutely nasty. Be aware, if you choose to ignore my advice and actually order from this hole — the rice is EXTRA. You don’t get rice with your grease — uh, I mean your entrée. They actually have the NERVE to charge you 2 dollars extra for plain white rice that you could whip up for 20 cents in a rice cooker. We will NOT be ordering from here again, that’s for sure. DISGUSTING.

I’d never ordered from here before and decided to give them a try. Talk about a pleasant surprise! Everything we ordered was delicious and free delivery?! You can’t go wrong with that! The delivery arrived about 25 mins later than I was expecting, but I won’t dock points for that. The bf and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal! I will be ordering from them again.

Holy crap. I won’t go as far as to say that this is my new stand-by for Indian food in Baltimore, but it comes pretty damn close. I bought the Groupon for this place last week, which required the entire($ 40) value to be redeemed in one purchase. This condition plus the fact that this place has incredibly cheap food meant that I ended up ordering a giant feast for my boyfriend and me. Here’s what we ended up ordering: 1. Aloo tikki(potato croquettes) 2. Palak paneer(spinach with cubes of tofu-esque cheese) 3. Daal chana(chick peas in tomato and onion sauce) 4. Chicken biryani(chicken in an amazing, fragrant, spiced rice) 5. Three orders of naan that were bigger than my head 6. Chicken jalfrezi(chicken in a tomato curry sauce) 7. Two orders of baklava(I know, not very Indian/Pakistani, but I had some cash to spend) So, yeah, an obscene amount of food and we barely made a dent in it by the time we were full. This place also gets major bonus points for having friendly and understanding staff. The woman on the phone(I ordered delivery) was super helpful in helping with recommendations and she was really apologetic about the delivery time because of how busy they were, even though she estimated that it would take about 40 minutes. Forty minutes is how much I usually wait for delivery from other restaurants in the city, so I wasn’t bothered at all. Also, the delivery guy didn’t mind at all that we only had a $ 50 bill to pay for the extra couple dollars we spent over the $ 40 Groupon. The only drawbacks: — You can really only get take out or delivery, it’s not a real sit-down restaurant. This also means there’s no lunch buffet that’s so typical of Indian restaurants. — They don’t mess around with the heat. Everything but the naan was incredibly spicy. I kinda wish we had a choice to turn down the spice in some of the dishes. I had to stuff my face continuously so I wouldn’t feel the heat. Not good for my diet…

Got takeout Friday night here. The woman working the register and cooking/baking the naan was super friendly! We ordered: — Palak paneer — the spinach wasn’t super flavorful, but the paneer was yummy and this complemented our other choices nicely. — Goat biryani — this was kickass! Great flavor and a generous portion size. — Chicken Jalfrezi — I asked for a korma(which they didn’t have), and she offered this up as a substitute. Totally not what I was expecting, but I loved the flavor. The bone-in chicken makes it more flavorful, but harder to eat without making a total mess of yourself. — Naan — this was baked right in front of us. One of the best smells in the world is naan coming out of the oven. Love. — Kheer — their kheer was good. I want more slivered almonds and cardamom, but I know everyone’s kheer preferences are different. I don’t know of any other reasonably priced Indian/Pakistani places in the city(the ones near us in Fell’s Point are $ 16 a dish — totally ridiculous — I moved from Silicon Valley where Indian food was prevalent and CHEAP) and this was good and we will return. Thanks, Thousand Kabobs!

This is some of the worst Pakistani food I have ever had. The chicken karahi is incredibly bland and way too oily. Pure grease. I think they are using neck pieces or some other low quality meat. Same with the chicken jalfrezi: oily and bland. The only good thing was the samosa chaat.

This place recently opened near my work so I gave it a try for dinner. I tried the chicken biryani and chicken kabob burger here. The burger is okay but the biryani is what I come back for each time. Lots of flavor and there’s a unique spice for the biryani. I do warn that it’s pretty spicy so if you’re not into that, make sure you tell them to tone it down a notch.

I live a block away from Thousand Kabobs, and have looked on anxiously from my window waiting for them to open. Right before the holidays they finally opened their doors. As far as décor goes, its pretty barebones and is really a take out place, but it sounds like they are still setting things up and that could change. While the décor isn’t really much, the food is delicious. I am not familiar with Pakistani food, but one of owners took the time to help me pick out an entrée and was really friendly and helpful. I ended up ordering the Haleem, which is a traditional dish made of lentils, meat, spices, and(I have no idea what else) but it was apparently slow cooked for hours. It was fantastic. Very great flavor and along with the rice that came with it, a huge amount of food for only $ 7. I will definitely try them again and look forward to trying more of their other dishes.

Its ok. The food is too oily and the cooks are somewhat amateur home-cooks. They might improve with time.
