This is my favorite little quirky store to walk into and just buy trinkets and whatnot for female friends or my girlfriend. They always have an excellent selection of clothing that just screams style, interesting jewelry(generally with a nature theme), and other things one might need. Do you need beautiful little plates with lovely peacock feathers on them? they have those, all in a nice little box. Do you need a cute bag made by some chinese company that specializes in researching the furthest outlying stars of cuteness? Those bags are right there, next to the charmant cups and notepads for scribbling idly under the widespread embrace of a Maryland oak, sipping tea. Basically this place is about 100 percent whimsy. That’s a lovely word, and a lovely sentiment, and a lovely way to approach the world. Whimsy is the fist casual murder of maturity and adulthood, the knife slipped into our sense of wonder as one slips a knife between the abstinent shells of an oyster. Yet here is is revived if ever so briefly. Here it is pale yellow gold in thin stripes across a sheer organza blouse. Here it is a vegan leather jacket in a short moto style with ribbed cuffs. here it is a dress with a Peter Pan collar, Jason Wu for Target if he actually gave a shit about his clothing designs. The prices are a bit high but so what? Dressing well is a reward for those who understand the importance of their apprearance. I’m not sure I give a damn about people that complain things are too expensive when it comes to clothing — no, actually wait, I don’t give a damn. Not a single, small, anemic one. Also, the staff is friendly and warm, and generally will help you find exactly what you are looking for. The changing room is a bit small, but then I’ve never really been inside it so maybe it’s sort of magical and looks like an instagram photo, I don’t know. What else do you need from a store, honestly?

i stopped in and found a great vintage blouse($ 20) and a dear creatures dress on sale for 40% off. they carry excellent brands and it’s nice to see a boutique with a few things on sale. the vintage section was very good and the prices were reasonable. highly recommended! :)

Trixie’s Palace is more of a studio apartment than a palace, but who I am to bust Trixie’s bubble, especially since her place is a wealth of awesomeness. It’s hipster-chic stylings with fashionable tops and dresses are most definitely style-inspiring. The early 70s music piping through the speakers did a lot for my Mod Squad state of mind as I browsed through the the purses and shoes. All of the merchandise is a mix of vintage and new, so planning an outfit is pretty easy to do. You can clearly see what would go with what. As far as jewelry, make sure you check out the rings in the case along the wall on the right when you come in. They are easy to miss, but definitely not worth missing so keep a look out. There are plenty of flowery and pretty little pieces, but they are not overly dainty. Definitely suitable for a girl with a little bit of bite like me. LOL!

Man, I went to town in this little boutique. I am normally not a hat person, but Trixie was having 50% off hats and one was a $ 46 Goorin Bros. hat I got for $ 23. In Vancouver, this hat would surely be $ 60 or more. And the other I got for only $ 6, was a hat like the one Angelina Jolie wears in The Changeling. They were so adorable and they looked good on me. If I didn’t have a luggage restriction on my carry ons for my flight that afternoon, I would have bought more. I did buy some earrings, a necklace, and a cute tshirt though! I miss this place!

I have to say… although I didn’t find too many pieces of clothing that rocked my boat I did fall in love with a specific necklace. And after leaving the store, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I called them to have them place it on hold until I could make it into town, and the person I spoke with was amazingly nice. She was willing to hold it for me, and didn’t give me a hard time ATALL. Unfortunately, today was the pick up day and I was unable to get through the Discovery Channel disaster, and make it to the store in time(they close at 7pm) so I called in once again. I offered to pay over the phone so that I could pick up on Saturday. She again was super nice and offered to just hold the necklace until Saturday, mind you it’s already been over a week. She was so incredibly nice and understanding, so for this I am giving them the maximum amount of stars. It’s so hard to find GOOD customer service, and I am just absolutely in love with this necklace. I can’t wait to see it on Saturday!

My too short and too jello-y size 6 body translates into«fashionista-size 120,000,000,000». I’m also too much of a yuppie(the perils of committing to a 9 – 5 corporate career) to be able to successfully carry off the indie clothes that I adore. I have become too old to get away with the über-fabulous urban street-wear that I would rock *SOHARD*. What that leaves me with is a closet of over-priced tailored suits and Ann Taylor separates… but what my *soul* longs for are adorable, unique clothes that scream«I AMFENNY, HEARMYROAR!!!». For the most part, I can soothe these tortured cries of my failed fashion-designer heart by buying vintage or designing and making my own outfits. Both of which are fun, but sometimes… just sometimes, a girl just wants to be able to find something new, trendy and cute — without the guilt of buying something that just won’t be worn. Which is why I think I have a profound love of Trixie’s Palace. Yes, it’s a small boutique shop with all the pitfalls of boutiques. The prices are a little high(although, for the cute-factor of these clothes, I don’t think they are *that* high), the size selection is sparse, and the shop itself is tiny. However — the products that they carry are *perfect*! Yes, most of the outfits are very Japanese street-wear, but accessible Japanese street-wear, which means that the adorable green apple print A-line skirt can be paired with a cream silk shell and the olive khaki one-button sateen jacket from Banana Republic, and it’s suddenly«business casual». That amazingly chic, yet simple scooter dress can be dressed-up with a cashmere cardigan and pumps for a preppy but imminently work-appropriate look. So in a nutshell, on the surface, Trixies Palace is a hip Japanese-esque indie boutique, but in reality, it’s a quietly rebellious yuppie’s dream! For me, besides design, workmanship and detailing is *key*…which is what separates this place from so many other boutiques. The quality of fabrics and stitchwork makes my little heart sing. Nothing bothers me more then finding a beautifully designed outfit made with shoddy materials. The quality of Trixies Palace’s products are levels above stuff like H&M or 21. Luxuriously hand-crafted buttons to make a stylish jacket«pop», delicately beautiful vintage lace to finish off a hem, fun stitching that transforms a simple black sheath dress into an joyous expression of youth; this is what makes Trixie’s Palace so great. Yes, the labels that Trixie’s Palace carries can be found in the mishmash of the internet and even other boutiques and stores — however, it is evident from the sparse, yet sublime selection that the merchandise is carefully picked for the fun, exuberant girl in all of us. P. S. There is a great sale-rack up by the counter, and although it’s a 50% off rack… the stuff on it is still *AWESOME*.

If you’re from Chicago, this is the type of shop you would find in Old Towne or Buck Town(next to Fluevog) and it would rock yer socks! Great trendy lines: Mat & Nat, Riot Apparel and others, vintage inspired accessories and great layout. Feels like you are in a tiny soho shop, this place is so bohemian, down to the wood floors.
