Great store! Awesome selection of outdoor goods. I can get all the things I love here! Cross country skis, snow shoes, gear(means selection is far superior to womens) including Arcteryx and Spyder, cool gadgets for running and hiking, you name it! High end outdoor store that hits the mark.

Erehwon is a destination store for outdoor enthusiasts. Think of REI without the swagger and street cred REI carries with it. I haven’t done much shopping here, but last year when they had a sale in winter coats, I ran to the store because it was convenient to get to. I was impressed with the stock they had and the sale itself. I walked away with a Columbia coat with zippered-in down lining and outside shell. Yeah! If you’re looking for winter weather gear or stuff for warm weather and you’re in the area, come in to this easily overlooked place.

Finding a good outdoor outfitter isn’t easy. Sports Authority and Dick’s are great if you need«inexpensive» stuff that you use recreationally, but if you are looking for real outdoor equipment(climbing, hiking, camping, skiing, etc.), then you need to check out Erehwon. Great selection of first class equipment(for example, North Face is probably their LEAST technical brand) and a very knowledgeable staff. If you’re looking for equipment that will last more than a season, and are willing to pay a few dollars more, they are worth a visit.

Erehwon is, for those who didn’t catch it, «nowhere» spelled backwards. True to their name, they specialize in hooking you up with camping and outdoor recreation gear when you want to get away from it all. It’s a bit like a mini REI but I think there are only 2 or 3 locations in the Chicagoland area and their customer service is way better. The store isn’t huge and the choices are limited; however, prices are reasonable and what they do carry is high quality. You can definitely snag some great deals on the clearance racks and during the off season or when they offer other discounts. They recently had a 50% Groupon which I snagged. Caribeaners to Cliff Bars, Sports Bras to Sleeping Bags to Swiss Army Knives to Snowsuits, Mittens to MREs, Thermoses to Tents, they have you covered! Need some Running Gear? They have it. Want Long Underwear for cold camping nights? No problem. Tarps? Yup! Everything for the entire family from infant to adult.

Unique inventory — not the ####mart junk. People who work here actually know their stuff — amazing.
