Best breakfast on MDI!!! Hands down. I’ve been traveling to Acadia for 30+ years and I’ve eaten breakfast at most of the spots around Bar Harbor. 2 cats is the best!!! Great, cute atmosphere. Beautiful gardens by the porch entrance. Outdoor seating is lovely. Service changes year to year but is typically cheerful and friendly. You have to have the fresh squeezed OJ! It’s delicious! The pumpkin chocolate chip muffins are delectable! Wild blueberry muffins with lemon icing just as good. Omelettes are awesome! Pancakes the best! French toast my favorite! You can’t go wrong with this great breakfast spot! A gem!

Excellent a little pricey for breakfast but it’s all worth it. Try their cat paws too! Service was good. Fresh squeeze orange juice their home fries are awesome and the biscuits with the strawberry butter is like nothing I ever had before!

This place is so good! Go every time we visit Bar Harbor. Friendly staff, great outside seating, and food to die for. Went when I was pregnant once and became obsessed with the biscuits and strawberry butter. Hash and the Salmon Benedict are our favorites. Prices are a little high but the food is so delicious and responsibly sourced I didn’t mind. I did however, mind the mediocre coffee. They have specialty coffee drinks I haven’t tried so that may be the better route. Or try the Thai iced tea next door at the little café on the corner. Delicious!

First recommendation is to make a reservation. When we arrived, the line was long, but with our reservation we were seated early, with no wait. Very creative menu. I got the white chocolate macadamia nut which were amazing. Husband got the corn beef and hash which he loved. Split the«spicy» hash browns and they were cooked perfectly.

This is a great place for breakfast especially the hot sauce which is more like a salsa. The strawberry butter and the homemade biscuits were delicious.

We ate here on our first morning in Bar Harbor and it ended up being one of the best meals we had all week. For being a bustling breakfast spot, they got us to a table relatively quickly and the food didn’t take long to arrive. Our server Tobias was amiable and helpful in helping us narrow down our meal choices; I got the salmon eggs Benedict and it did not disappoint. The coffee was excellent, too! Great food for a decent price — don’t miss it!

This review is for the café only. The service was mostly prompt, although we had to wait several minute for our check after we the table had been cleared. Food was decent but nothing special. My companion ordered the breakfast burrito; the«fillings» came on the side… never had a breakfast burrito that I had to put the fillings in before. Plus side wait staff was very friendly

We had the most wonderful of breakfasts here on! Every employee, including our extremely polite waiter, was friendly and seemed happy to be working there. My daughter and mother had blueberry pancakes that were absolutely delicious. My son had scrambled eggs, toast and bacon. Portion was big for a seven year old! I had the biscuits and strawberry jam, which we awesome. We also bought clearance hoodie sweatshirts for $ 12.95 each!!! Can’t wait to go back!

+Summary Definitely get something with the strawberry butter! A great place to eat where everything on the plate was good. +Food My wife got the«Summer Scramble», which she liked. I got the«Omelet #2» which was a apple, walnut and cheese omelet, which was a nice twist away from the norm. We both loved the biscuit with strawberry butter and the homefries were especially good, definitely different than other places on the island. +Environment The restaurant is in a remodeled house, it’s very cozy and comfortable. +Service The staff was friendly, however drink refilling seemed to be a problem at least for our table, which is a big deal for the wife, keeping this from 5 stars.

2 Cats is the best place to eat breakfast in Bar Harbor by far. The food is always fresh and delicious. The fruit bowl is filled with a variety of ripe, delicious fruit and is presented with care. If you are a breakfast potato person, which I am, this is absolutely the place to go. They are one of the only or possibly the only place in Bar Harbor to serve fresh off the grill home fried potatoes. Everyone can make eggs but I measure my breakfast by the potatoes and these folks do it right. The other really nice addition to their menu is their fresh made biscuits w/the homemade strawberry butter. A biscuit is served with all of the egg dishes. Their staff are all friendly and efficient. Try them, you will not be disappointed.

This review is for the restaurant, not the inn. I probably wouldn’t recommend staying here as an inn given how incredibly busy the restaurant downstairs can get. I came here with a big group and we were seated in their huge covered deck. My better half loved her breakfast burrito and I was a very big fan of their homemade biscuits and freshly squeezed orange juice. I ordered a seasonal special side of maple walnut sweet potatoes and thought they were a bit bland and the huge portion didn’t make up for the under seasoning. Their pancakes were decent but nothing I would write home about. Overall I think they’re a good restaurant making a solid breakfast though.

I’m really glad we stopped here for breakfast. I ordered the lobster benedict and my boyfriend got the lobster omelet. Both did not disappoint with large chunks of lobster and delicious homemade biscuits. My meal included spicy home fries which were well seasoned and the inn’s chili sauce adds a great kick. With a little fruit on the side, the meal was very well rounded and I loved each part. We didn’t order pancakes, but it was nice to see that they serve real maple syrup for no extra charge.

This is a good restaurant. Our experience was not great but that happens. It is ok. :) Four stars. We ordered trout omelette and avocado omelet. Both were really good. The highlight of our breakfast — freshly squeezed orange juice. Definitely recommended!

I was initially wowed by the cute interior and great service, but 2 cats is greatly overhyped. The general gist of the menu is heavy on carbs, given that home fries and/or a biscuit is served with everything. Not healthy by any stretch of the imagination. First up, having read the Unilocal reviews I was pretty excited for the biscuit with strawberry butter. What I got was a dry and salty mouthful of stuff that was at best alleviated by copious amounts of butter. Next up: scrambled eggs, one of the only things that mentioned a decent number of vegetables on the menu. I requested Boursin instead of feta(because feta in scrambled eggs? Really?) and was unknowingly charged extra for it. Also, very little vegetables to break up the heavy eggs and cheese combination. Ultimately, it ended up being an $ 18 meal and I left feeling bloated rather than comfortably full, ready to hike Acadia. To be fair, I had a fantastic waiter and I loved the atmosphere, but the food is not worth going back for.

Well done breakfast for sure. Very cozy and friendly place. It’s like eating at a relative’s home. It’s a very warm and inviting locale. The food is prepared with care and you can tell the staff love what they do. I had the smoked trout omelette. It was pretty tasty and came with a giant homemade biscuit. Home fries seemed like the bagged variety but it’s easily overlooked because they have a great in house hot sauce. Bar Harbor is home to a «holy triumvirate» of breakfast locations that all deserve to be in their own class. Two Cats is the best at what they do. Quirk and cozy with an organic twist.

This was the best breakfast we had while in Bar Harbor. From what I read many feel the same way so I’m happy we were able to make it in before we left. As service goes I will say that I’ve had better, but, in their defense, they were slammed right out of the gate and we were at the restaurant early. We went on vacation(late April) before most shops and eateries were open so I can’t even imagine what a zoo this place would be if it were during peak season. They just don’t have the space or people to accommodate the droves of Unilocalers reading these reviews. That’s a good problem to have though. The food is, as advertised, amazing. I did NOT have the blueberry pancakes. As someone else pointed out, why stand in line just to get something that is made equally well at other breakfast locations. I had the smoked salmon, cream cheese and capers omelet. That was to die for. I’d go and stand in line for that omelet any time of the year. My wife had a cherry chocolate pancake that was also outstanding. The place is nice to hang out in and it’s going to be a bit on the noisy side. Any space would be when you pack in that many people. We got to unwillingly listen to some bro-seffs talk about bro stuff. While we were entertained at the sad, full stereotype they were living out we would have preferred not to have to listen about their brahs and backpacking adventures with Zach. All in all, go here if you have some reserved patience.

We probably didn’t order something that would really be defining of a Unilocal rating. We only had time for a quick breakfast, so we got the bagel plate. For close to $ 12, I was expecting more than just 2 slices of smoked salmon. If it was amazing quality smoked salmon(like Russ & Daughters, NYC), I would almost be willing to accept it. The smoked salmon they served was pretty common. We also ordered 2 lattes. They were pretty small and diluted. There were a lot of happy people in the restaurant, so we might have just ordered the wrong items.

We arrived shortly before 7:30am to find that there was already a line at 2 Cats Inn and Café. It moved reasonably fast as the parties were each sat in turn, and found ourselves comfortably situated in one of their small dining rooms not five minutes later. Cute paw prints marked our table as a hint of the rest of their cute décor. Not quite as hungry as we would have been had this been our first meal of the day, we opted to share their Mediterranean Breakfast $ 12.95 grilled sundried tomato polenta on a bed of fresh spinach with two poached eggs, homemade caponata, and feta cheese, served with spicy homefries, Maple Walnut Sweet Potatoes $ 6.95, and Two Biscuits & Strawberry Butter $ 3.75 between the three of us. The biscuits were huge and tender and tasty with the flavored butter. The sweet potatoes were a bit too sweet for even this sweet tooth, and still(too!) firm. The Mediterranean Breakfast was my surprise favorite as a healthy savory breakfast choice. I love potatoes, but the accompanying spicy homefries, however, were not particularly to my taste. 3.5 stars.

I had been to Bar Harbor before, in my pre-Yelp days(sad, dark times) and in those days I would have never had stumbled across 2 Cats. Thank goodness for Unilocal,(thanks Jando!) because I bookmarked this place before I even arrived on my most recent trip. It was a 15 minute walk for us in the heat, because our tour bus(don’t judge me, I didn’t want to drive from NY) dropped us off at Agamont Park, but it was well worth the walk. The inn/restaurant is located in a very residential area, right across the street from a bicycle rental shop. It looked very quirky and inviting, and we were greeted by smiling hostesses who seated us immediately. The restaurant is in the ground floor of the inn– and felt very homey. I immediately decided that we would stay at the inn the next time we were in town. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable and upon hearing my concern about the latte I was about to order, she asked if I wanted them to alter it to cater to my needs. They offered decaf, soy milk, almond milk, etc. She was also very helpful with tips on where to visit while we were there and what other restaurants we should try. I was torn between the lobster benedict and the lobster omelette, but I had to take Jando’s advice and go with the lobster benedicts– he is my CM after all! The lobster benedict was superb– the hollandaise was perfect and the biscuit was so flakey. The spicy home fried were spiced and cooked perfectly! I think between the ambiance, staff and food, this is my favorite spot in Bar Harbor. The price had increased slightly since Jando’s visit in ’11, but it was well worth it and like him, I’d come back again in a heartbeat. This is a vacation spot, you gotta eat well and live it up!
