I travel for work and stay in a lot of hotels… this is the worst place I’ve stayed in a long time, and possibly the worst place I’ve ever stayed. Upon walking into the room it was dated and old, but that’s no big deal. I sat down on the least comfortable bed I’ve ever been on and promptly fell asleep, but it’s pretty easy to sleep anywhere when you’ve worked a 17 hour day. When I woke up from my nap I grabbed a bite to eat and then returned to take a shower. Much to my dismay I found mold growing on the walls of the bathroom. The walls were dirty and the bottom of the tub was stained. I wished I had taken a page out of my college text and had a pair of flip flops on me so that my feet wouldn’t have to touch the tub, unfortunately I did not have a pair with me so I had to just sick it up. I got out of the shower and dried my self off with the sand paper they were trying to pass off as a towel, which was only slightly less rough than the sandpaper they were trying to pass off as toilet paper. I went to the bed and pulled back the comforter to find stained sheets. So I put the comforter back on and got fully dressed to prepare for bed. I went to plug my phone in for the evening and discovered that there were no plugs on the side of the room the beds were on… wtf! So I plugged my phone in across the room and tried to sleep on top of my bedding. Around midnight I got thirsty and decided to try to go and get a bottle of water from the vending machine, only to find out it wasn’t working. So I went to bed thirsty and grossed out. To be fair the tv was nice and the owners were very nice but I had planned on staying 3 nights and checked out after 1. I got a room at the old talbot tavern that was beautiful for only $ 10 more than this slum. How this place has decent reviews I have no idea, maybe I have higher standards than some people bit mold on the bathroom and stained sheets are unacceptable.

Rooms are clean, beds are fine, price was good, wifi was nice and quick, location was perfect for a weekend of bourbon tasting. This is a motel, nothing more.

4 stars for the great price and location plus 2 stars for the room quality averages out to 3 stars. My wife and I spent two nights at the Old Bardstown Inn, which offers motel style lodging. There aren’t many places to choose from in Bardstown so we selected this motel due to its good location close to the attractions and the bourbon distilleries in the area. Our room had two queen sized beds, one bedside table, a table with two chairs by the window, a microwave, a nice sized refrigerator, a small coffee maker, and a motel style heating and AC unit that was conveniently operated by a remote control. The vanity and sink were located outside the toilet/shower room. There was no hair dryer provided. I was pleasantly surprised at the modern flat screen TV with a lot of cable channels. We were very pleased that we were able to watch our out of town NHL game. Overall, the room was better than I expected. The cleanliness and quality of the sheets could have been a little better, but are you really allowed to complain much when you are paying less than $ 50 per night? The bed was OK and we slept fine, but it was kind of funny how much you could feel the coils in it. Parking was good, we were able to park right outside our room. The staff was very friendly and organized. Don’t worry if you get up too late and miss the complimentary breakfast. It’s nothing special, just generic toaster waffles, artificial maple syrup, weak coffee and bagels. There are really good breakfast options including both fast food and sit down places just down the road, so no big deal.
