I recently just went here for the first time. The cheese curds were great, I wish there were more of them. The serving size was really small. For dinner, I had the El Horseshoe. It was a burger covered in cheese sauce, fries, and bacon. It was really good, but I felt like it was missing something. It was missing something juicy. Maybe a sunny side up egg on top? Anyways, I would come back to this place.

Went there on a Friday night to sit outside and eat. There were only about 10 – 15 people there. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was not good. My wife had a wedge salad and chilli and it was bad. My horseshoe burger was very small and didnt taste good.

Visited on a Friday night and sat at the bar for food and beer. There were lots of TVs and all of them were on sports, which is great. This was my third visit, and definitely my least favorite. The bartender acted like it was an inconvenience to serve us. Not friendly at all. No smiles, no conversation. She was gone for long periods of time and left us with empty beers. She also spent a lot of time chatting up another group of customers and doing a shot with them. I sat there with an empty beer glass while she got the bottle of vodka and basically refilled someone’s half-empty drink with it. I’m all for bartenders who want to make it a party, but it’s not much fun when the bartender ignores you but takes extra special care of the people she knows. Fish fry was average at best. It was all you can eat but I didn’t want any more after the first plate. Cheese curds were delicious though. I’ll go back because the prices are good and this is the first time I’ve had bad service. I really hope the bartender was just having an off day or something because I want to like this place.

I’ve eaten here twice in the past week and I’m totally kicking myself for not trying out this place sooner. Best salad I’ve had in a long, long time. All the ingredients were super fresh and tasty. Both times I had the chopped chicken salad substituting steak and southwest ranch dressing. A-MA-ZING! I was dreaming about this salad all week and my mom and I finally went back just shy of a week after our first visit. The Horseshoe Grill is slightly unassuming from the outside in a strip mall off of Northwest Highway just West of Kelsey Road. If you’re passing by you should definitely stop in. They have a really nice outdoor patio and a few billiards tables in the ante room to the main bar. Tim took care of us both times and he was excellent, very friendly and was attentive. The owner also stopped by to see how everything was going and I always think that’s a nice level of service. I just moved to the Schaumburg area, but my mom lives down the street in Fox River Grove and we will definitely be back for more. We’ve tried the chopped chicken salad, the nachos with chili, the nachos with steak and a steak sandwich — all meals have been very tasty and top notch quality.

I dropped in here for lunch and got the horseshoe. You may be wondering what a horseshoe is… it’s a burger on a piece of texas toast, covered in fries(and some bacon in this case), and then covered in cheese sauce. It is by no means healthy, but damn is it ever tasty! You couple that with some great service, and solid daily specials and you got yourself a 5-star review.

This is a great place to go if you want a tasty bite to eat after work or after a long day, without having to wait to be seated or deal with over-priced items on the menu. The Horseshoe Grill is very cheap considering the quality of their food and beer. I had their chili cheese fries for an appetizer that was shared among 3 people. Then I had their Range Burger. It was HUGE and delicious. Together with the chili cheese fries, the regular krinkle-cut fries that came with my massive burger and my tall glass of German beer, I was extremely full after my meal which resulted in a prompt food coma as soon as I came back home. I asked for the burger to be done medium-rare too, and they did an absolutely PERFECT job at grilling it to the right color — rosey-pink center and no dryness. The staff are down-to-earth, regular folk and really polite/nice. The restrooms were decent and clean for the most part, considering the amount of people that were at the bar/grill when I visited. I would definitely recommend this place, and I hope to be back again soon; whenever I’m in town again, of course, which could be a couple of years from now.

Great food! Great friendly service! We went late on a Sunday night and they were still serving :) I loved the western décor. We had a bucking burger and a buffalo chicken wrap. Great sweet potato fries and onion rings! We are glad we found this place and look forward to coming back.

Parental units got a groupon for this place, so we decided to come here for a little dinner. Arriving at this location, we were surprised that it was in a strip mall. It is almost passable cause its off 14 and not much is around. Once we got in, the place was pretty much dead. OK, it was a Wednesday night, but we were legit one out of two or three tables. Waiter comes up promptly and we ask for Beer specials and just what he has in bottles. He has no clue. Order some beer, then decide to do an appetizer. We then ask him what is good, he has no clue. He actually says«I don’t eat here at all.» This is not really pleasing. We go with an easy decision, nachos, and they come out quickly. They are pretty tasty and the portion is huge. We all order dinner and the food comes out promptly again. My mom’s burger looked the best, I really didn’t see my dad’s Fish Sandwich(he said it was good), but both mine and my hubby’s dishes were just blah. My chicken sandwich was missing avocado(I didn’t even bother to ask for it cause I forgot midway; aka pregnancy brain), and my hubby said his burger was just a little bland. Then, my Mom wants a nightcap. Can you guess? The waiter has NO Idea whats in the bar. Prices are really cheap, the ambiance is nice — a little bit on the smaller side, but they did the best with the space.

This place is not bad at all and such a huge step up from RSVP’s food(who use to occupy this space)! For«bar food», it can’t be cause it’s exceptional. OK I admit that I have only been there for lunch and only had the poppers and burgers, but considering the options in Barrington for a great burger with fun toppings, Horseshoe Grill rocks! The only bartender we’ve met is Jennifer and she is wonderfully sweet, friendly, funny, great on conversation and attentive to service. The hub and I will be back to satisfy my recent need for a good/fun burger or perhaps to try one of their other menu items or daily specials

The good: sweet bartenders(Holly and Melody are both fantastic), good burgers and sandwiches, pretty inexpensive, good place to watch sports, you seat yourselves so you can pick a table right away, clean bathrooms, they carry Cider Boys hard cider while most places carry Angry Orchard, good variety of drinks in general. The bad/annoying: I hate the country theme, I’ve never seen any staff here besides the bartenders on duty so service can be slow, too loud to comfortably carry a conversation, draws a weird mix of redneck locals(probably due to the country theme), small portion sizes for sides(I consistently get maybe15 fries with my burger which is a bummer, who doesn’t love fries?), only tall tables which is annoying… no place to set my purse, I always end up dropping my napkin and having to climb down for it, lastly they have like 5 TVs all playing different stuff which can get distracting and overstimulating. I would say come here for a burger for sure, especially during the busy nights… but if you come in on a slow night don’t be surprised if there is one bartender slowly serving the whole place. Don’t come here to catch up with a friend, come here to eat, drink and glue your eyes to one of many screens. Talk to Holly and Melody, the sweetest bartenders ever and you should enjoy your experience!

I have been by The Horseshoe Grill many times without even thinking about going in– no particular reason, just hadn’t. Recently I was in the mood for a bite for lunch and was nearby The Horseshoe Grill, feeling that it was a good time to give it a try, we did. We were there on a Saturday and apparently during the afternoon on weekends(?) there are $ 4 Mimosa and Bloody Mary specials. I ordered a Bloody Mary; it was satisfying but a bit bland for me(I forgot to ask to have it made«spicy» so I will take the blame for that). The drink had just a couple of olives and a stalk of celery for garnish as opposed to some places who serve a «meal in a glass». I didn’t expect a lot for $ 4, and this was about what I had expected. I ordered the Cod Wrap which was surprisingly tasty and satisfying; I especially enjoyed the pineapple salsa which added a fresh taste. Terri ordered the«Gone Fishing» which is codfish atop lettuce, tomatoes and onion garnished with pineapple salsa and a mild habanero mayonnaise. Terri said her sandwich was«OK» but didn’t elaborate on much else. Each sandwich came with fries and you could substitute other sides for an up charge. Their fries were average, nothing exceptional plus or minus. I was a bit surprised with the final total on the check– cheaper than I expected given the fresh made character of what we were served. Overall I would say that this is a solid place for a bite that apparently hasn’t been discovered by very many folks yet as a lunchtime option.

Well I am as shocked as anyone can be that I would give a bar/grill 5 stars, but they deserved it. I went to this place because of a promotional coupon and was I surprised! Usually bar type joints are not exactly gastronomic specialists but boy did they prove me wrong. Sure, you can sometimes get decent food at a bar but I have to admit that the chef went way beyond this. I went there for lunch and ordered the flank steak and shrimp meal thinking that this will certainly separate good from bad. A little risky, but with the promotional offer, why not? Not only did it not disappoint but it literally blew me away. Everything on the plate was so fresh, including the broccoli and carrot vegetable medley which were served«hot». Not always so with broccoli. After trying the steak I was mesmerized…am I really sitting in a small bar restaurant?!? Wow, it was one of, if not the most, flavorful flank steak I have ever had. Moist and so delicious that I wanted more, and more. I then tried the shrimp which were covered in a tequila, lime sauce that was beyond anything I could have imagined. Flavor was so unique and spot on that my focus now turned to the shrimp. Six nice sized shrimp grilled and served over mashed potatoes and covered with this absolutely perfect sauce. I truly believe this is one of the best meals I had in a while. I can’t wait to go back and try one of the other meals to see if I’m as lucky as this time. Hats off to the chef!

Ugh. I had such high hopes for this place. We live just 5 minutes away and have been meaning to try it since it opened. We finally went. We sat at the bar for dinner and drinks. The bartender was really great — wish I knew her name. She was friendly and attentive and our empty glasses/bottles never went unnoticed for more than a few seconds. In my opinion the beer list was great — nice selection of craft beers. My husband on the other hand was disappointed because they don’t carry stouts. Now for the food… super disappointing! I had the buffalo chicken wrap with sweet potato fries. The wrap was OK, nothing better than what I could make at home. I was served a toddler-sized portion of fries. My husband had the«El Horseshoe» their signature burger served open faced on Texas Toast and covered in cheese, bacon bits and fries. He said he could tell the burger was a frozen patty. Additionally, it was pretty apparent our food had been sitting out for some time before being served to us because it was cold. On a higher note, we loved the atmosphere and staff. We will be returning to try other menu items or maybe just for drinks.

Well, I did go back and things have much improved. Last couple of times the food was very good and no country music to be found! The locals that hang out there can be annoying, but that’s not Horseshoe’s fault.

I’m split on this one. I was the only one in my group to not get a burger, and I regretted it! The wings were good, but the American Dip sandwich was so incredibly bland! The food had no soul, no flavor, just very basic. No one came by to ask how everything was, so I didn’t send it back, just ended up eating the last bites of everyone else’s burger– which were pretty good but nothing spectacular. Good beer selection for the area. Entertainment was a country band, not my taste, but it drew a crowd.

I’m giving one star because every time I visit the quality of service and food gets lower and lower and it is so sad because there is SO much potential. One more thing, the background music is way to loud, so loud that you have to shout to your fellow patrons and server. I have been here a total of 10 times and will definitely not be going back. Try the Dead End or the Tracks for much better food and service, and a WHOLE lot cheaper.

has potential. Bartenders are cute and chat nicely. The place could be a great food and craft cocktail joint, but its pretty vanilla and nothing really sets it apart from any other bar with food. I’ve had burgers, nachos, and fingers… burgers are ok, uninspiring ok, nachos are something like I’d make at home in a rush. Not enough cheese, but its the runny type of cheese you get at a concession stand instead of the real stuff… yuk, and the fingers were actually ok. Generic dipping sauces… great big bar and you’d think you’d get great service. Not soo much. Ok service, ok drinks, again… nothing special. Had to ask for garnish in my drink… silly lack of going that extra step to make the place great… over all… ok place, uninspiring, better food elsewhere. Nice looking servers, not mixoligists by any means…
