Tong D just went from being our favorite takeout place in Barrington to Tong Don’t. If you were waken from your slumber by a HUUUURGGEHH sound last night it’s because my whole family got food poisoning after a recent order. My husband has had mild upset stomachs from eating there in the past, but we chalked it up to the spicy food(probably naïve because we eat quite a bit of spicy food in our house). Sorry Tong D. Never again.

UPDATE: Today, I went to Tong-D for lunch and ordered from their prix fix menu. I ordered the coconut chicken galangal soup with coconut red curry chicken, both 5 star spicy. ITWASEXCELLENT! They finally arose to my expectations! After the lunch, I ordered one of their desserts which was a sweet sticky rice with mango. It was really good. The mango was ripe and on point! I’m beyond pleased with there performance today, MERCI! I just hope they continue to cook and serve in the manner they did today continuously. I’m now officially proud to say that this is one of the BEST Thai restaurants in Rhode Island and no doubt the best in Bristol County!

You want great Thai food in the east bay? Tong-D is your place. I have tried four or five different dishes here and I love them all. Huge servings which is great for takeout because you can easily get 2 – 3 servings out of one meal. We have only eaten in once and ordered takeout many times. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. Great restaurant all around, I highly recommend them! My fav dishes: Pad C U, massaman curry, and panang curry. So good.

I highly recommend the mango fried rice in this restaurant, and that is sooo delicious! And do not forget to try its Thai tea! It is also awesome!

We have only dined at Tong-D for lunch, enjoying the Prix Fixe Lunch offering. For $ 9 you receive a Green Salad with Sesame Dressing, which is a small-sized salad with a tomato slice, onion strips, and carrot shreds, and a very tasty but not too bold Sesame Dressing. You also get your choice of an appetizer from a list Chicken Lemongrass Tom Yum Soup, Spring Roll, Chicken Wing, Dumpling, Edamame, and a Chicken Coconut-Galanga Soup. And finally, you get to choose from a nice selection of main courses. I have not been able to choose anything other than the Chicken Lemongrass Tom Soup since it is one of my favorite Thai dishes and I like to sample it and compare to other restaurant’s offerings. Tong-D’s offering is quite solid — up there with some of the best I’ve had. I have had several main courses, including the Spicy Basil Leaf with Chicken, the Salmon Teriyaki, the Spicy Green Curry, and samples of the Three Delights. All of these main courses have been quite good and easily represent what I am looking for — creative, spicy, and well-presented dishes that make me want to eat Thai food every day — even for breakfast sometimes. The inside is well-designed, clean, though a little on the smaller side, the wait staff has always been good, and you can get in-and-out for lunch in under an hour. For those seeking an adult beverage, there do not appear to be any draft beer choices, however there is a good selection of bottled beer including some of my favorites — Singha, Chang, and Sapporo. We do attend during the slow times of the day and rarely see Tong-D at full capacity, perhaps because it is a little hidden from the main drag, so we always get at table quickly but, in all, for $ 9, the creative and tasty lunch deal is a nice deal that is hard to beat. Why not give it a try?
