Four of us went to Mosaic’s Community Café and what a treat from the minute we walked in the door. The place has a nice clean colorful décor, happy volunteers and is an asset to the community. I had the fried green tomatoes topped with bacon, pimento & cheese, cheese grits & kale salad and it was presented beautiful and taste great. The others had the chicken nachos & hamburger and they also liked there food. The lady waiting on us was retired and her husband had died so she volunteers at Mosaic’s. We had a very nice lunch experience & already made plans to return.

We visited this delightful restaurant while driving across Florida yesterday. It’s a friendly welcoming place with adorable décor. The food was excellent, especially the kale slaw. My omnivore husband enjoyed the bean burger served with tasty condiments, slaw, and fresh made potato fries while I had the fried green tomato BLT with slaw and homemade chips. Lunch including a drink was $ 10 each, the suggested donation, which is a great deal for healthy and tasty food. After we learned more about the project, we gave an additional donation, but no one asked asked to do that. Libby the amazing director described how they remodeled the space in partnership with Habitat for Humanity and about 100 volunteers. You will love the attractive and clever use of recycled lumber! Beverly, a volunteer with a senior organization told how seniors come and volunteer, some in order to get a healthy meal, but many just for the community of friends. They also have day when they come for a meal and games. In partnership with a local school, teenagers come after school, help clean up, get a meal and then do their homework. Some retired teachers are on hand to help with homework. It’s just a great inspiring place. And the bottom line is that it is a great little restaurant!

My family saw an NBC segment on this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised to see its located near a family member. We decided to stop in for lunch and found the friendliest atmosphere we’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. You can tell the people truly love what they do and ready to talk about it. We ordered burgers, grilled cheese and soup. Everything was superb, with the kale slaw something to die for. Talk about feeling good when we left, both inside and out! We will definitely be back!

Tried this place today. There’s been a lot of media attention surrounding this restaurant with such a unique concept… you pay the«suggested donation» amount, you pay what you can or you lend a hand at the restaurant for an hour to pay for your meal. Not only was the food awesome but the service was great and it touched my heart. I recommend the avocado and egg salad wrap, chicken salad croissant and their chicken soup. The décor reminded me of the quaint, artsy coffee shops you would find in NYC. I’m rooting for this place to succeed!

There has been much talk in Bartow about Mosaics. Its one of the few community driven cafes without prices. The idea being that an open atmosphere without a concern for prices so that people from all walks can sit down and enjoy a good meal. It is a little early to say how well the experiment is panning out, but I happily welcome new restaurants and businesses to Bartow! The people here are incredibly friendly, and I wish them the best of luck! They focus on the morning and lunch traffic, but they were nice enough to still serve me, even though they closed a couple hours earlier. The menu is fairly traditional ranging from burgers and sandwiches to a different soup each day. Sortof surprising to see rotisserie chickens rotating away. Clearly they are interested in the food! Home-made potato chips along with grits and a vegetable serving mean you can eat and be full, and feel like you are making a positive contribution to Bartow.
