I was honestly afraid to do a Unilocal check-in here during my stay because I didn’t want the local axe murderers to know where I was. The Stay Inn is a lot like that hotel from the Shining except with Less Jack Nicholson and more bad customer service. It’s the sort of dingy, under maintained place you usually find in the middle of nowhere and only stay at out of desperation, except that Bartow isn’t far enough out in the middle of nowhere to account for the total lack of guest consideration. They lost my reservation. The free WiFi didn’t work, and I suspect it never did. The free complimentary breakfast consisted of a pot of burnt coffee, out of date pre-packaged danishes and microwave breakfast sandwiches with freezer burn. I haven’t even got to the room yet. I bruised my shoulder forcing the door to my room open, the fault of poorly maintained hardware. The carpet, while vacuumed hadn’t been shampooed since the Nixon administration. The TV was brand new some time in the early 90’s, the picture so bad only about half the channels were viewable. There was No iron/ironing board and the room came with a fridge that didn’t quite work. Probably the weirdest thing was the shower head that was mounted on the wall at about 5 feet high. I had to duck under it to wash my hair. I’m not even tall and I banged my head three times in the course of a 20 minute shower. The only thing I can say is that the bedding was clean and there were no creepy crawlies, having said that, don’t stay here. Whatever the booking price is compared to your other options, it’s really not worth it. In fact if they’re not offering to pay you to stay here, they’re over-charging.

The rooms are clean… We thought we were getting a queen x2 but ended up being full size beds Beware of showering … Our room didn’t have as much problem as a friends but while showering it can change from hot to cold in an instant … I am 5’3″ so did not have problems with the shower head location but anyone above me height will have to kneel down … They only give two of each linen so you will have to request at the front desk and get yourself… Other than that everything is clean… Out dated but clean … So basically you get what you pay for …

First note: This place is under new management, with a new name. Second note: we stayed in the handicapped accessible room so parts of my review may not apply to standard rooms. This place is definitely on the cheaper side when it comes to pricing. You get what you pay for, but its not a bad thing. This place is a bit outdated, though I have heard that they are preparing to renovate. And largely, everything is of good quality. There isn’t a large variety of channels on the TV, but there is sufficient numbers to satisfy people. The pool is centrally located and is well kept up. The servicepeople were polite and helpful. There is an advertised lounge/saloon, which we did not visit. The location is convenient. The hotel does not have continental breakfast but is built around a Denny’s which serves good food. There is also a CVS within walking distance should you require incidentals. In addition, it is near most of the main shopping and restaurant areas. As to the room itself, our handicapped-accessible room had two beds, which is good for our four person family. It means we didn’t have to spend more to get two rooms, since so many places have only one bed in their accessible rooms. My mother had no problem navigating the room and bathroom. The room was very clean when we arrived. Overall, this place will not have the thrills and extras of some of the other hotels, but it is a decent stay at a reasonable price.
