We requested and received seating on the lawn/garden. Our group was two adults and one teenager. We had a bottle of Spanish red wine which was excellent. The Tapas were very tasty and interesting. I tested several items… all were prepared excellent with fresh ingredients. We finished with gelato and a Port. Enjoyed every bite and sip! Our waitress Sabina was very attentive and had a dry sense of humor that I loved. The Owners came by regularly and appeared to enjoy talking with all the guest. Overall a great experience.

Good atmosphere, decent service, average food. Seems to be a crowd favorite as the place was busy. The wait staff was doing a good job keeping up. The bottom line is I’m seldom impressed with tapas. It always turns out to be an expensive yet underwhelming experience. This was no different. $ 130 for two adults and a 3 year old. This comes with only one cocktail each for the adults and a kid pasta.

Health department would have already shut it down if the owners weren’t paying the inspectors off. No way that kitchen could get close to a 75. I worked there. Don’t try it, food is good if you want to gamble with food poisoning.

We’ve had consistently delicious food here despite consistently fumbly service. However, the few precious times over the past year we’ve had the joy of Jerome as our server we rave and say, «why aren’t we here every week?» He recommends food well — but the wine he *really* seems to know.(Which is important to us as we’re pretty unfamiliar with the list.) I was here twice last week. Once we were waiting for twenty minutes for water at our table and then by the time we had been there 30 minutes we finally had an order in. However, Jerome took over the table and turned it around in no time. Suddenly food, wine, waters, and whatever else we needed was taken care of. It turned out to be a wonderful night, despite having started pretty poorly. I brought two out of town guests last week — one time a young man who eats pretty much — well — meat. Another night I brought a vegan friend. They were both equally delighted with their food. The vegan loved the potatoes, broccolini, and salad. The meat eater enjoyed the shrimp and meatballs. I always gravitate towards the Med. Salad and the shrimp — any preparation is great — but the one with ginger is outstanding. I really hope they get the service dialed in for summer — we’ll be here all the time.

Worst service ever… Sat for an hour without service taking our entrée order! Server was rude and never listens to us… just walked say when we were talking. Host/owner was very friendly.

I was here with my husband on Valentine’s Day for dinner(our second time dining here). Our reservation was at 6:30 pm and they had our table ready for us right away. They sat us at the corner by the fireplace. It was really crammed and very close to the next table, and the floor was not leveled in this area, so it was not very comfortable. I wanted to change tables, but they were busy that night. My tip is try not to sit in the corner area next to the fireplace(left side of the restaurant from entrance). Our waiter was really nice and we got our drinks and food fast. We ordered spicy calamari tapas for appetizer which was really good. My husband ordered their special that night which was lamb ossobuco with gnocchi and he loved it. I ordered their linguine alle vongole(my favorite pasta dish) and theirs is one of the best I’ve had. Full of flavor. However, once we got our order, our waiter did not check on us once during our meal. He only checked on us at the end to ask us for either dessert or our bill. I was sort of disappointed because during my meal, I wanted another glass of wine. At least we still had our waters. I guess it was really busy that night. But overall, it was a good experience(with the exception of where we were sitting and not getting drink refills) and we will come back again for the great food.

We had a wonderful dinner. The specials were truly special. The staff were attentive and efficient. The ambiance warm although the actual temperature was a bit chilly. Highly recommend.

We are local and have given this place a chance multiple times. We come here once every 6 months or so hoping that things have changed only to be disappointed even more than the last. The food is really great here, so it such a shame that the service is the worst I have ever encountered. Last night, since we were in no hurry, we decided to try this place again for dinner. The restaurant was not busy with empty tables. We sat down on the patio, taking our time chatting and looking through the menu. After 30 minutes we have not seen a soul at our table and not even water was poured for us. We flagged down the hostess to let her know that we were not yet helped and she proceeded to complain how she came in on her day off and hated every moment of being there. She promised to bring us water and bread. Another 15 minutes went by. I got up to seek assistance only to find the hostess serving a table inside with drinks. I again asked for water and a waiter. She promised to come by and take our order. We sat for another 10 minutes and I finally flagged down a waiter that was helping the table next to us only to be told in a very rude tone«This is not my table!» After over an hour and not even water at our table we finally got up and left. This place does not deserve to be in business.

This was our second time at Tempranillo and it was as good the second time as the first. Its exceptional setting gives it an almost mystical feeling dining out on the front veranda. Make sure your guest of honor sits looking out onto the front lawn. The food was outstanding and our cocktails were superb-with the Howard Hughes«aviator» being my favorite. The wait staff is professional — our server has worked there for 9 years(a good sign) with our 3 servings perfectly paced. Basalt is a quaint town worth visiting especially if you want a change of pace from the scene in Aspen.

Despite the food being delicious, the service is AWFUL. The first time I went there, I had to leave earlier than my group so I found my server and requested to pay my portion of the tab. He got very upset and proceeded to lecture me on how it’s inconvenient for him to do it. I felt so incredibly bad, but had no other option as I had to leave. Then last night… we had a large group, granted, but when we didn’t receive a dish we had ordered to our table, we politely let the staff know… who ended up being the wife of the owner. She then went to her husband to tell him we were«complaining» even though we had not gotten the food we ordered. He then comes over and starts raising his voice and dropped the f-bomb at us. With his cursing, he said we should not complain as «HE’S DOINGUS A FAVOR» by having 50% off for ladies night. Needless to say… we’re finding another place to go out.

Four of us are here on a weekend summer night. The place was packed. I guess that really slowed down the kitchen. It took 90 minutes to get our main courses. Meanwhile, our server, Mick, kept us informed but there was little else he could do. They have a great wine list of Spanish wines and if you aren’t familiar with them, Javier will pick out some good ones for you. When our main dishes arrived, they were good, but I think you should not be in a hurry if you choose Tempranillo.

This restaurant deserves much more than a 3 star rating. The food is absolutely fantastic. The only inconvenience is that the food takes a while to arrive. Meals that are definitely recommended: The shrimp in garlic sauce, the mussels, definitely the veil scallopian. and for desert the molten cake! The prices are extremely reasonable and you get more than what you pay for. Enjoy.

I wanted to really like this place. I have eaten here twice now. Food is solid but pricey. My last trip here I was the only person in the restaurant and the waiter would not allow me to sit at a table set for two or four people. «I don’t want to have to reset the table so why don’t you sit at the bar.» He then preceded to rudely talk about me in Spanish which I understand. The food isn’t good enough to put up with such horrible service. No wonder why this place is always empty.

It took 20 minutes to get the bottle of wine we ordered(once we were able to flag down our waiter), 30 minutes for our salads, and another 40 minutes for our entrees. The food was lukewarm. Stay away.

Big mistake and no apologies. The food and atmosphere is what we expected. We sat outside on a beautiful evening with goaod food and nice wine. The waitress asked a lot of questions as one person in our party explained she was allergic to shrimp, lobster, and shell fish that turns pink when cooked. She felt comfortable ordering the paella withou shrimp. When we began eating, and our guest started she noticed shrimp mixed in with the paella. Fortunately, she did not react. As we finished our meal, she got hers. This was very disappointing as the server was very careful about the order. She questioned our guest to see if she was sure the shrimp came from her dish. We were disappointed that the staff showed no concern nor did they offer anything to make up for what could have been a costly error.

Great place for lunch. In the summertime, order the specials. The gazpacho with watermelon and grapes was perfect.

A little pricey, as all tapas are, so don’t over order as it can add up fast — for Aspen, great food at a great price without the attitude or wait. We had 4 people in our group, and generally enjoyed tasting all the small plates. Service was friendly, quick, and polite.

A few minor glitches, but the food was phenomenal. Gluten free pasta with spicy chorizo in vodka sauce is incredible. Our server wasn’t bad, but I did get hints of what previous reviewers mention with regard to feeling marginalized. I think it must be the touristy nature of most of their business. I will say large tables of older folks got more attention. In fact, it was an older friend and colleague that recommended this place, which she’s over the moon for. I’d recommend a seat inside, as well. The patio is nice, but chilly, and there are even seats on the small, fenced-in lawn, but stray cats will approach you, and loud diners will necessitate you raising your own voice just for sound to reach your she-beau across the small table. I don’t think it’s fair, really, to dock stars for feral animals or obnoxious patrons, though. And I’m fine sipping old fashioneds and staring at my girl. She really is breathtaking. Side note– there were four episodes of dropped dishes. Four.
