Started off with a nice greeting from gentleman at the front. THEN we got to our waiter, who, in a word, was rude and nasty. Not curt… but downright MEAN. I asked about TEA, he bit my head off that it wasn’t ready yet(we arrived at their opening time of noon). Then he kept pushing us to order, when we asked if the tea was ready yet, he yelled AGAIN, and then stormed off when we said we’d need a few more minutes(much like the tea, but I digress). After about 15 – 20 minutes, it become obvious that now he was totally boycotting us and we would not be allowed to order. Had to get up and ask front desk. where a woman who saw us come in responds, «Oh we didn’t know anyone was sitting there!!!» Wait, WHAT? You saw us come in and the guy next to you told them to seat us… So we order… my friend orders her meal and I order mine and ask for a different sauce and no mushrooms. He then asks, «What else do you want?» I’m like. does it come with anything else? He gets NASTYAGAIN and says, «No, it doesn’t. I’m just ASKING what else you want to have!». Ummm… it’s an entrée… exactly how much of an appetite do you think I’ve worked up in the 20 mins since we last interacted? Food was ok. Nothing too amazing. Ours looked exactly the same although we both ordered different dishes. So they basically prepped it the same and then just tossed shrimp in hers and chicken in mine. No lunch menu on Saturdays. One big bowl of white rice for both of us. Sadly, I’m over this place. We’ve been here before and service was fine. Today was just abhorrent. There was no reason to treat us like that… especially since we were the only table for the first hour they were open and we were only 1 table of about 3 the whole 2 hours we were there. I think they should work on their manners if they’re going to expect us to tip them for their obnoxious service.

The area is a blackhole for takeout. Compared to other offerings in Bernards/Bernardsville it’s top tier, but in the grand scheme of Chinese/asian food it’s just average. The menu is standard Chinese/American fare; I find it sweeter and less seasoned than average. Their lack of pork centric dishes is surprising, but I think they do a great job of catering to the market that they’re in — more shrimp and seafood items are on the menu instead. Nothing marked«hot and spicy» on the menu has been particularly taste bud singing. If you want something more interesting and flavorful check out the weekly specials; they’re usually more savory. Stand out items so far have been the salt and pepper pork, wuxi pork ribs, and everything I’ve ordered off of the specials menu(which rotates weekly or I’d be more specific). I don’t like their noodle dishes — way too mushy and not enough vegetables or meat. For take out orders I haven’t had them make any serious mistakes. Dine in service is average to above average for Asian restaurants. Ling Ling beats their competition in the area hands down in terms of service and quality, but high prices and limited pork offerings hold them to 3 stars for me.

My absolute favorite Chinese restaurant! They opened when I was a teenager and I used to go all the time in high school. I’ve since lived in Boston, DC, and now the Bay Area — but whenever I’m home I head straight here, as I’ve never found any Chinese restaurant that compares. They have amazing dumplings, delicious chicken dishes(I love their chicken with broccoli), great fried rice, wonderful soups, etc. Prices are reasonable and food is savory and filling. Can’t recommend enough!

The food is decent, however the service is not. I have been there at least six times because it is convenient and I have been denied substitutions or given attitude. On my most recent visit I asked for hot chili oil. It was given to me in a small uncovered dish with a small ceramic Spoon on a small plate. I put some on my food and placed the spoon on the small dish rather than on the bowl and the waiter came to the table and told me that I couldn’t do that. The spoon had to be placed back in the bowl. I asked him why it mattered because he wasn’t going to serve it to anyone else and he told me that the DO re-serve their chili oil that is served in open containers. I will be informing the Bernards Township Board of Health but I also wanted to inform you. I will try to attach the photo I took.

Wow! I can’t get over the relatively poor ratings for Ling Ling Riverwalk. I went that upon the suggestion from a friend(who also loves the place) and was extremely pleased with the service and the food. I was treated like a king from the moment I walked in and the food was delicious. The employees treated me as if I was a long-lost family member and went out of their way to ensure that I was satisfied from the moment I arrived until I left. My only«complaint»(if it could be called that) is that they don’t have any combo-plates. As a single person, it would be nice to have a greater variety of things available when dining alone. However, my food was very good. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

Ling Ling is local for me and they don’t use MSG in any of the food. It’s good Chinese food and the takeout orders typically only take 10 – 15 minutes. If you choose to dine with them there are plenty of tables with white linen service. You always get a nice hot pot of tea, crispy noodles and duck sauce. I also ask for spicy mustard. Good quality and fair prices.

Here for lunch. Tucked into corner of strip mall and didn’t know it was there until I wandered down. Was ok, waiter kind of cranky, food was decent, portion sizes average. Not sure I would go out of the way to go back.

When I walked in, my first reaction was a very nice sit-down Chinese Restaurant. This got me hooked into the restaurant, but there were a few flaws with the restaurant. Before ordering my meal, I decided to get an appetizer. I got a seafood soup and it was delicious. Mmmmmmm. However, my entrée was 180 degrees from delicious; it was disgusting. I had the honey chicken. Warning: Do not come in with a voracious appetite wanting to order the honey chicken. I ate it anyways because I didn’t want to leave with an empty stomach. I know someone else, who I won’t mention for privacy reasons, also said that the appetizer was great, but the entrée was unimpressive. I was so disgusted, I couldn’t risk having dessert. This review received a three star rating because I am being generous.

The chinese food is okay. The restaurant is in a nice location and there’s lot of eating area and space for guests. I really like the duck sauce and crispy noodles which they give before serving your meal. The waiter was also kind. Not bad.

On every trip to pick up(or eat-in) at Ling Ling, I am always greeted by my name and definitely with a smile! Couple that with the consistently good food and I keep going back. Believe it or not, my favorite is a Spring Roll… or two!

How the hell do people eat this crap! It tastes terrible, it’s way overpriced, & the portions are small! Not that I’d want a big portion of that crap anyway, but I am shocked that anyone can eat this! GROSS

Lunch specials are from $ 7ish to $ 10ish. It’s pretty much a Chinese fast food restaurant with dressed up waiters and nice deco; pretty pretentious combo if you ask me. Anyway, food is mostly Americanized Chinese, okay taste and quality but the lunch special portions are pretty stingy considering the prices they charge here. Definitely don’t plan on coming back here anytime soon.

I thought the food and service was great. These are the most customer oriented people i have ever been served by. I would go back here in a heartbeat. Food was very good too!

Perfectly acceptable, americanized Chinese food served in a quiet strip-mall restaurant with efficient waiters. At lunch the specials are $ 8 – 11 which includes soup OR soda, rice(white or brown) and a main course. Always served with hot tea, ice water, crispy noodles and duck sauce. When we visited the counter people greeted us and the kitchen was very fast, our food came long before we finished the little bowl of crispy noodles! The lunch menu offered favorites like chicken in brown sauce, tofu with mixed veg, and scallops in hot pepper sauce on green beans; nothing memorable or particularly authentic like bone-in rabbit or tripe. The spicy pepper sauce actually had a bit of heat to it, definitely not mild. Our lunch was just fine, very reasonably priced at about $ 11 each including tax and tip. Parking in the Riverwalk strip mall can be difficult. Once you survive that, you’ll see that the Ling Ling interior is quiet, it has only booths, and the tables have white table clothes, topped with glass, and that is in turn topped with a large sheet of white paper. Every piece of china has the restaurant name on it, even the tea cups. Back in 2004 this place was rated one of the best in NJ for Chinese food by NJ Monthly magazine. Well, maybe standards have evolved, or maybe the restaurant changed. Today three stars is about right: the service was solid, the food was reasonably tasty and it was a quiet place to eat. I don’t understand the serious hate in some other reviews. This isn’t a dive, the people were not mean to us, and the lunch prices were not high at all. Admittedly I’m not hurrying back, the flavors were too mild.

5 star rating! For the worst Chinese food I have EVER had served to me. And a lot of you know how it can be so damn difficult to have your significant other agree with you on something? Well, S agreed with me on this… I give kudos to places where I have enjoyed the experience. Not a redeeming quality about this place. Terrible. Do not go. I read the reviews before going and saw the 2.5 rating. Unilocal needs to have the numerical reviews be 0 or even negative numbers. The better places will go to the top naturally. Ling Ling gets my first ever negative number, oh so deservedly. Food served at tepid temperature. No flavor. Just plain awful. Bad service. Hard to make tasteless food, but this place has cornered that culinary aspect.

I only ordered a takeout chicken lo mien & it was tasty, a tad unlike the typical lo mein taste in a good way. I look forward to trying out their main dining room. It looks very promising given the quality of the staff, menu production & interior design from what I saw as well as its popularity among locals. Very friendly staff & a long standing reputation give it promise.

They are doing something different then they have the past couple of times and normal stables are complete trash and simply not that good. I’m not sure what’s going on with this place but the food is not where it was and the service is no better. I ordered here the other night and ordered wonton soup which was completely bland. I had pork fried rice, the pork was fatty and pretty un-edible and the rice was also bland. With other choices in the area, why pay the premium for BAD food and get mad that you did. Just move on…

Maybe I am spoiled by good Chinese and Asian food being not from this area but I have to say, it was bad. Sorry but if this is the best Chinese in the area… I feel sorry for you all. You should come to DC where there are tons of great Asian restaurants… Hell you live only an hour from NYC… the best Chinese restaurants in the US. Maybe I had the wrong things, but it was dry and flavorless… got the veggie dumplings and lo mein.
