After hearing about this place years ago, just went for the first time. For a country restaurant, it was great. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the bar was small and had no draft beer. The food however was excellent. The salad bar was very fresh, well stocked and had a few types of bread to go along with it. The seafood stew was hands down the best I ever had, flavorful and jam packed with scallops, shrimp, mussels and more. When our food came it was hot, delicious and large portioned. When they set the food down, I thought wow, I’m going to need a to go box. After I took my first bite, I knew I was going home stuffed instead. The service was fast, with friendly staff. There very early on a Saturday for dinner, by five the place was full and a line was forming.

Great food and service and reasonable prices. I have never been disappointed there by any meal I have ordered and no one in our company has ever been anything but ready to go back again!

This is the second time I’ve waited twice as long as I was promised for a pizza pickup. Won’t be going back.

I went here with a large party and the food was outstanding and at an excellent price. The staff was very friendly as well! I could definitely tell the food was homemade. I love mom and pop restaurants and this one was wonderful! We had the chicken and dumplings, pizza, beef on weck, chicken wings and a few other specials. Everyone was very satisfied and they also offer a great salad bar and bread buffet. Would definitely go back again and again.

We have driven by this place for about a year now and finally decided to stop in and give it a try. Well my husband was extremely thrilled when he saw the salad bar! There are not many restaurants these days that have a salad bar that has different types of salads available other than leaf lettuce. This salad bar is conveniently located in the middle of the dining room so its easy for everyone to access. They have a fresh homemade bread station included in the salad bar with soft butter. After scoping out that we head to our table. This place is not huge nor is it small. I feel it’s a perfect size restaurant! The greeter left us to read the menu and decide what to order. Their menu is good sized with a variety of seafood items, chicken, burgers and your typical bar food items. Once we placed our orders we headed over to the salad bar! There was a huge bowl of fresh lettuce, many traditional toppings, 6 different dressings to choose from, macaroni salad and a potato salad! My husband ordered the broiled Haddock, Traditional style which had great flavor and I ordered the chicken fingers with a baked potato. The fingers were perfectly cooked all white chicken and yummy! I tried their swamp bbq hot sauce and it was good but I decided to stick with a traditional bbq sauce which was good too. We wanted dessert but it was late and they were all out of their Candy Bar pie, so we will have to go back soon to try that! All the desserts are made in-house. Our waitress was awesome(forgot her name unfortunately)! She had only been working there for 3 months but seems like 3 years as she was well versed in the menu and gave my husband advice on which fish to order– she made the experience even better!

This place is great. The owner and chef Dan Woodward, really puts his heart and soul into running a business that has been owned and operated by the same family for over sixty years. The steaks are outstanding and hand cut. The seafood is about as fresh as you can get.

Local guy here praising a local buissness. The food is very good, large portions, & they seem to make a real effort to offer whatever the local farmers are harvesting in season. Expect to wait if you get there after 5:00PM on a Friday or Saturday, and for good reason. Friday fish fry is one of the best around, they offer it baked & broiled also .I’ve had a couple of steaks that were all very good. The Salad bar contains home made salads & fresh baked breads !! The Subs are very good, wings are small but good, pizza is average, but better than most pizzas you’ll findEast of rte. 93.

When driving by this place it doesn’t look like much, but I say you must try it! It is a small restaurant with amazing food. On Fridays and Saturdays they have their Prime Rib and it sure is tasty! On those day I would suggesting going early because they do fill up and sometimes you may wait abut 45 minutes, but it sure is worth it. My favorite part is the fresh homemade out of the oven bread they have with their unlimited salad bar. The salad bar has plenty of options and is always fresh. No matter what I have gotten here the food is always tasty and the service is great! The waitresses are always friendly and attentive which makes this place even better. It may be a small hole is the wall, but never leaves you hungry or disappointed!

First off if you decide to go on a friday and saturday night, be prepared to wait. You walk in to a small waiting area, write you name on the list then choose to wait in the small waiting room or squeeze into the bar and wait… You will notice the diverse crowd, you get locals dressed in their work clothes for a beer and wings or pizza and you also notice people that dress up a little more. The hostess is busy seating people in the rustic dinning room, pouring water and busing tables. The wait staff is always over busy, they tell you they will be right with you but usually it takes awhile. However they are friendly, helpful and efficient. The I have had here has always been good. Some ok, some delicious. HUGE salad bar with warm bread and rolls. Great salad bar! Pizza and wings, YUM! Fish fry, great! The Scallops perfectly cooked. Shrimp scampi, also great taste and not overcooked. Huge prime rib! They also have some great soups and unique side items. Don’t forget $ 10 large cheese and pepperoni pizza on Wednesday, which is great if you live out that way. Out in the middle of now where worth the wait. If you went to any of those chain places you would wait there too!

Talk about a place off the beaten track. We sat in the small bar area and it oozed character. We had the deep fried mushrooms and they were amazing. We also ordered the wings and give high grades for the unique wing sauces. The fries were also excellent. Nice folks running the place too.

We eat at the Hotel often and can say that the food is exceptional. Last night we tried the special they had on oysters and can’t begin to tell you how delicious they were! They are very busy on Fridays since they also have a great fish fry! We love the casual atmosphere and the friendly servers… give it a try. you won’t be disappointed!

I have been to the Alabama Hotel twice now and both times left me more than content. We recently went here with a group for a family birthday and our service was top-notch, as was the food! First off, I have to say that the waitress was incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful. Poor service can often make or break an experience in my opinion so I have to note how awesome our server was! We all ordered the specials that came with their unlimited salad bar(which includes WARMHOMEMADEBREAD!!), that was chock full of different ingredients and dressings. The salad bar is a great bonus because it usually means you’re getting to take home enough of your meal for the next nights dinner. Frugal bonus. ;) Two of our party ordered their prime rib, which also came with a choice of potato. Others ordered one of their fish dinners, steak, a crock of their New England clam chowder and I ordered the Eggplant Parm which the waitress told me featured eggplant harvested fresh from her garden the night before!(AMAZING!) Everything that was ordered, was presented very well and came out quickly. I have to say that I am very picky about Italian food and rarely order it when out as it’s hard to compete with the incredible homemade meals I’ve had, but I was very impressed with my Eggplant Parm. The sauce was great, there was plenty of cheese and a good crisp to the eggplant. I was also happy with the fact that they did not use regular spaghetti, since i cannot stand the consistency of thick spaghetti(angel hair all the way!). Overall, we were more than satisfied with our meal here and those that were experiencing Alabama Hotel for the first time have already requested a return trip!

My husband and I LOVE this place. They have a delicious salad bar with all very fresh ingredients. The salad bar also has homemade bread. The service is friendly and efficient. I have never been disappointed at this restaurant, unless you count sometimes having to wait for a table on a Friday night. I love their broiled fish. My husband likes to get the sea scallops.

Hotel Alabama isn’t much but should you find yourself stuck in the Town of Alabama, New York, it’s about the best you’ll be able to find. I generally stop here in the afternoons, after a morning of goose hunting and while killing time waiting for the returning evening flight of geese; having a few drinks and exchanging hunting stories with the rest of the patrons. Dress is generally camouflage with baseball cap.
