It’s is not open until 10:30. I was turned away rudely by an employee because they were closed. It was 10:00 when I got there, the doors were open outside. The sign on the door says until 10:30 but the way all the employees gave us dirty looks and turned us away doesn’t leave a good taste in my mouth. Notate on the door that you need those last thirty minutes to clean(according to the manger.) Side note, when confronted explain the situation don’t run to your manager while rolling your eyes. We will probably never go back. Sub par customer service and okay food. Looking for Mexican food? Look at Guadalajara or El Nuevo.

Had a great lunch experience here. Service was very friendly and prompt. The order was executed correctly and we enjoyed our meals. Salsa was mild with a good flavor balance which went nicely with the thin-styled crisp tortilla chips. Enjoyed my steak burrito which was filling because portions were very generous here. The rice was average but the beans were good. The guacamole was nicely flavored with no discolorations. Good food, good service, and reasonable prices.

My family has been going here for years. The service has always been good. The little drive-thru they have in the morning for breakfast tacos is pretty cool too. I personally recommend the crunchy tacos(big, stuffed full & really good), the quesadillas, bean & cheese chalupas & their queso. My husband loves their menudo. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because their tea is not very good. I don’t know if it’s because they use unfiltered Bastrop water to make it or what? Other than that, this is probably my favorite Mexican place :)

I had shrimp enchiladas. Well it was suppose to be shrimp enchiladas. It maybe had 3 shrimp for the entire meal. Service was fast but when you can’t deliver a good quality product service doesn’t matter. I guess it made sense as to why we got our food so quickly… I won’t be back

Very pleased with this restaurant! I love the combo burrito! It is just STUFFED with goodness and will is very filling. My friend ordered pancakes and they looked delicious. Very big portion sizes here for the price. Even the juice came in a huge glass that would have cost me $ 5 at a any other restaurant.

I went for dinner. I ordered the chimichanga. Too cheesy not enough veggies. I asked for tomatoes lettuce and onions to add on top never got it. I ordered sweet tea, was not good at all it tastes like it was sweetened with sweet and low. The water tastes nasty as well. The beef fajita tasted rotten. I asked for a baby sling a few times the waitress kept insisting they had none. Next thing she came back with one? They have these two shutter doors that lead to the restrooms there is only one stall for women and one for men. While I was there I went twice once to wash hands and to change baby. Both times I had to wait for the employees to get out. And other people were waiting as well women and men in a small area outside the restrooms. Will not be back.

My boyfriend and I ate here for our Saturday night date. The atmosphere is pleasant and the waitress was attentive. The complimentary chips and salsa were quite delicious. I ordered the tamales and he ordered the chicken enchiladas. The food arrived within five minutes of us ordering which made me suspicious of the freshness of the dish. The food tasted awful. I was only able to eat a few bites. My boyfriend, who ate more of his dish, ended up spending a long time in the bathroom from being sick before we could leave the restaurant. We had planned to see a movie afterwards, but had to cancel due to both of us not feeling well. Neither of us plan on returning to this restaurant, one ruined date night is enough.

Worst breakfast ever! Nothing is fresh nor homemade! The hash browns were deep fried hockey pucks like you get at McDonalds. My sausage and cheese omelet was inedible. Greasy, and cold in the middle. When I brought it to the attention of the server, she looked miffed, but took it away, When she returned, she had taken my plate of food and PUTITINTHEMICROWAVE. When I mentioned it, she looked at me as if to say,(what did you expect?). I thought she might take it off the check, but no. Not so much as an, I’m sorry, won’t happen again, nothing. Still looking for a great breakfast in Bastrop ! Will never go back here.

I assumed that since these guys have a great location they would have great food. I was completely wrong. Not is this the most generic mediocre Tex-Mex I have ever had. The service was horrible. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by all the awesoma Tex-Mex I get in Austin. I’d like to do a much more elaborate review here but the food was so horrible that all I can think to write is the word gross over and over. Maybe I just went on an off day. Either way I cant recommend this place to anyone. Even the water tasted bad.

Jalisco’s is my favorite go-to! Chips and salsa are excellent, customer service is spot on! Get the shrimp and chicken fajitas(and split it with two people as it’s a lot of food)! They are delicious! The mushroom quesadillas are really good too. Oh, and did I mention the shrimp cocktail… gotta stop here, it’s making me hungry. Seriously, this is a consistently good tex mex restaurant.

Ordered the fajita plate here and wow what a disappointment. When I order fajitas I expect them to be sizzling… not at Jalisco’s. Meat strips were thin and not particularly warm. Tortillas were good but that’s only part of the fajita equation. Jaliscos needs to step up the fajita game…

Not bad food… Service needs work… I gaffe to agree that three would rather stand in the kitchen doorway chatting it up, than to be attentive to their customers needs… This is a management issue… Can’t day enough about the food though… Absolutely love it… I

Great Tex-Mex food at a price that won’t break the debit card! The servers are friendly and attentive, and the portions quite impressive. I had the Super Nachos with beef fajita meat, and there was no skimping on the cheese, meat, sour cream or guacamole. The free sopapillas offer made for a tasty finish to a great meal!

Average Mexican food. Lackluster service. There really isn’t much more to say. There are several other choices in Bastrop which are better in every aspect.

Alright Jalisco, you’re slipping, and you really need to step it up. Yesterday for once my husband was the one requesting Mexican food. I told him we could get it as long as we went to Jalisco, since I wasn’t feeling well(just a bit of a cold) and wanted something familiar. So that’s where we went. We were a bit early for dinner(it was a few minutes after 6pm), and there were only about two other tables occupied. After we were seated, we ordered drinks … tea for him, a horchata and a water for me. When I got it, my horchata was kind of weird. It was a beige/tan color rather than off-white, and instead of having that yummy rice-pudding taste it usually does, it tasted mostly of vanilla extract and some vague sweet chemically taste. I would have just thought my tastebuds were off due to being sick, but my husband confirmed this. I drank most of it anyway, but I definitely drank more water than I normally would have. Chips and salsa arrived at our table with our drinks. The salsa was much spicier and more garlic-y than usual. I think the spiciness was due to the jalapenos in the salsa not being seeded … I have been going to Mexican restaurants all of my 28 years(and going to Jalisco for over 10 of those years), and I don’t think I’ve ever seen multiple jalapeño seeds in salsa. So I couldn’t really eat the salsa, and my husband didn’t eat much of it either. Probably good for us since we didn’t even eat a whole basket of chips, and usually we we eat at least one and a half. I ordered shrimp fajitas and my husband ordered chicken enchiladas. I also asked for a side of grated cheese. The waiter then looked at me and asked if I wanted tortillas on the side with my meal. I was confused since tortillas are always included with fajitas. I answered in the affirmative, and when he asked what type I said I wanted both flour and corn. When our food came, my husband asked if he could have one of my tortillas to eat with his meal, and I said that he could. When he opened up the tortilla container, he saw that there were only two tortillas(yes, one flour and one corn, at least). Two tortillas is not enough for a fajita plate … Jalisco has always served at least 4 in the past(more if I get corn ones mixed in since they are smaller). Our waiter was across the restaurant talking to two other waiters. Since there was no way to get his attention, I decided to get up to ask for more tortillas. The manager noticed me leaving my seat and asked me what was wrong, so I told him that I’d ordered a fajita plate and only gotten 2 tortillas. He talked to the waiter and told him to bring more. Four flour tortillas arrived at the table shortly thereafter. Since my husband had snagged the corn tortilla earlier(he must have liked his food, his plate was basically clean by the time I got the second round of tortillas), that meant I got no corn ones. I didn’t feel like complaining again, and the flour tortillas were good and freshly homemade, so I just let it slide and enjoyed the rest of my meal. My shrimp fajitas were good as usual, and the rice and beans were amazing(better than usual). After that there was a noticeable uptick in service, as we were asked many times whether we needed drink refills or if everything was okay, so I guess the waiter was worried since the manager had had to speak to him. When we went to pay($ 24 or so) we were not charged for extra tortillas(and I’m not even sure we were charged for my extra cheese), so that’s good. Yes, we’ll be back, but with all of the other contenders I’m not sure that Jalisco will remain my favorite Mexican place in Bastrop. We’ll just have to see.

As I travel, I am always looking for restaurants that are just those diamonds in the rough that not only serve you a great, worthwhile meal but also keep you from eating at the fast food junk joints. Jalisco comes pretty close to diamond status. I love me some breakfast tacos. They are the real reason for the chicken. When I lived in New York, my goal in life was to seek out the best slice of pizza. In Dallas, I wanted to seek out the best Caesar Salad. Now that I live in Austin, it’s all about the breakfast taco. See my photo for the visual aid, but you will see that Jalisco hits the mark pretty well on this front. For $ 7.50, I got a coffee(and the waitress was nice enough to send me on my way with a to go cup at no extra charge) and three(Count ‘em, three!) breakfast tacos for under 8 bucks. I was completely satisfied with the generous combination of eggs, cheese, and spicy-enough salsa. I chose corn tortillas(which is not always a choice at some places), which were doubled up, and left full and happy. The restaurant is not one I would choose for a rehearsal dinner, but while on the road, I will make a point to stop at Jalisco to get my taco fix. This is a great stop for those who drive from Austin to points west(Houston) on Highway 71. You will have a yummy time.
