Clean grocery store. Nice selection of food and drinks. They have a good variety of pre-made foods like sandwiches and platters. They have a nice salad bar that was fully stocked. There is a pharmacy and a chase bank located inside as well. They also have a good selection of LSU merchandise.

Stopped by the stand alone liquor store section tonight to pick up a bottle of liquor and a pack of cigarettes for a friend. All went well for the most part. The store was clean, nice selection of spirits, beer and wine, well lit and organized, even got a nice hello when I walked in the door. All that was totally lost, however, thanks to the snarky millennial who checked me out. As he rung up my purchase and placed the cigarettes in the bag, he made the comment, ‘Enjoy your cigarettes, I hope you don’t die anytime soon…’ What??? If you enjoy your liquor and don’t mind being judged, this is the place for you. As for me, next time I’m going to support the homegrown liquor store down the street!

Bakery personnel are too-notch. I needed a vanilla flavored birthday cake fast so I could hit the road and drive back to Houston. Both ladies in the bakery were working hard. I asked for help and a lady told me she had just baked a pretty strawberry/vanilla cake. Sold. She even wrote the name on it and added two cute decorations. 8 mins total. My daughter took it to her friend’s house and they asked where it came from because it was so good. They saved me from going across town to a specialty bakery!!! Thanks again!

This is the most professional and efficient pharmacy I have experienced in Baton Rouge, I had tried CVS(nightmare), then Walgreen’s(not much better). Both CVS and Walgreen’s have zero customer service skills. Both pharmacies messed up my orders. I could not believe my eyes when I had an order at Walgreen’s, got home, and saw that they scribbled over the printed label of ‘quantity 30′ and hand printed ‘6’. What??? I thought prescription drugs were a controlled substance with computer inventory, Well, five days later ‘Christina’ calls to see how I’m doing on my medication that I need to take daily. I let her know they did not fill but 6 out of 30(and I’ve been on this medication and dosage for five years). She basically said, oh, just come by and pick up the rest, We didn’t have enough in stock. Yet they never told me. And, to make things worse, I picked up the prescription and it had a hand printed ‘24’ for quantity. Yikes. I’m in information technology, and have worked for a pharmaceutical company, and this is inexcusable. Yet, I go to Albertson’s on College Drive, and they have an incredibly professional team of pharmacists. They dispense correctly, they are friendly beyond belief, and they actually care enough to talk to you about your medications. Thanks to my fellow Unilocalers for guiding me there! This is the only pharmacy I will use in Baton Rouge.

«Hey kids! Let’s try something different today!» Then I looked around my 2 door pickup truck and realized I left the kids back at the gun store. Oh no! Quickly, I turned around in the middle of the road with no regard for my or any other lives in my way. Once I got underway in the right direction I took a minute to reflect and calm myself. «Dan. You don’t have any kids. Not to mention, none that were left at a gun store. You hate guns… Oh look, it’s Albertson’s on College. You haven’t been to that one in a while.» Ok, so none of that is true. But I did go to the Albertson’s on College Dr. It’s fun to try out new things. It’s not really new because I go to the Albs on Government all the time, but this one is definitely different. First of all, everything is flipped around. What’s right is left, what’s left is right. Up is down and pink is brown. Likes: Meat market is cleaner and more stocked than Government St. Seems bigger(but probably isn’t). Dislikes: Moldy onions(?!). WTF? The rest of the produce«looked» fine, but when I dove in for a nice big juicy red onion, there was mold all over it. Yeah yeah yeah, I know, you’ll peel off that outer layer before consumption. I. Don’t. Care. The last thing I want to see on my food is mold. Anywhere. Step up your game Al.

I love this place because they try so hard to make your shopping experience a good one. The people are great and if you shop here often enough they seem to know what you buy. I was in here the other day and the checker said«Those Mindy Lu’s lemon pies you love were restocked fresh today». And I raced over to get a couple cause I do love them. The sales are great and if you watch the weekly for staple items like bottled water(I love Ozarka) you can stock for less than anywhere else in BR. They have a 10% discount on wine even if it’s on sale if you purchase it in 6 bottle sets. You can even mix and match the brands as long as they are all 750ml. They have a dollar isle that I use often to grab a few sponges of a knife for a picnic. And clearance items on cute holiday stuff. The bakery has 89 cent muffins baked fresh daily and the banana nut ones are really tasty. I don’t buy all my stuff here but I like shopping here for all the reasons I mentioned and will definitely shop here again.

I shop here all the time and find that the store stays well stocked of items. The pharmacy is great and staffed by very competent people. Plus I find that it is easier to get to traffic wise than the tire on Essen Lane.

I’m at a point with my Business Travel that I like to buy snacks and adult beverages for the Hotel Room and during the work day. This Albertson’s is the closest grocery store to where I usually stay on Constitution. As expected, it carries what I might want to snack on. One trick in getting here from there is to turn left on Continental before reaching College. That way, you loop around right and reach College Drive at a place where entry to Albertsons(and WalMart next door) is straightforward. If you continue on Constitution, you’re forced right, sent under the Freeway, and left wondering how you should get back. By that time, you’re better off continuing on(after another right turn) and shopping at Whole Foods.

Calandro’s is a better grocery store, but we shop at Albertson’s more often. 2 for 1 meat deals, sometimes 3 for 1. Not sure if that’s a healthy thing, but we dig it. Their bakery bread is awesome. There’s never a crowd in here, so I never walk in & back out hating my life, like I do every time I enter Walmart. We shop the attached liquor department almost as often as we actually buy food items… it’s a winner. And they put out a monthly liquor mini-newspaper that highlights all the deals for the month. Awesome!

While they have one of the largest produce selection in the Baton Rouge area, the rotation of their stock has some serious issues. On my first trip to this Albertson’s I selected 2 containers of chopped onions, a bag of fresh bean sprouts, and a couple other convienence items in the produce department. I got home and the onions were obviously well beyond their use by date and smelled rotton. Upon closer inspection of my purchases the bean spouts were 3 days past their sell by date and also had a sour smelled when the container was opened. I decided to give the store another try two weeks later, hoping that my experience was an isolated incident. Sadly it was not. This time I was careful to read each packages sell by date and found many fruit bowls that were past their freshness dates… and the onions were once again probably inedible based on their package date. While they have the largest selection of produce… they have lost my business. I do not want to have to scrutinize each and every selection from the produce department to find a fresh one.
