I’ve been here several times since we only discovered it in late spring of 2014. I can only speak to the gelato, as we were never there during mealtimes. However, the panini bread smelled divine and the sami’s looked pretty good as well. On the first visit, a Sunday afternoon, we were given several tastes to decide on what flavors to get… a very difficult choice! I remarked to the owner that his gelato was by far the best and most authentic in BR. When I told him we’d just returned from Italy, sampling the world’s best, and that Bacio di Roma’s gelato was as good as Perque No Gelateria’s in Florence, he delightedly told us that he was FROM Florence and had grown up on Perque No gelato. No wonder his product was incredible! The coconut, Marscapone, Stracciatella and Amareto are some of our favorites, always creamy and fresh. The owner was always very cordial and willing to converse in Italian with us. When he was not there, some of the part time help was often too preoccupied to be interested in doing their job. The only other problem we consistently had was the location. Parking on W. Chimes is always a nightmare, looking for a rare slot and feeding meters. We went back for the first time this year on Jan. 18th, and were shocked to find the place empty and closed down. Very disappointing. Hopefully the owner is planning to reopen in a better location: one with decent parking and access, perhaps in a more upscale area where people are more willing and able to afford quality gelato. Maybe students in the area could not support such a business with regularity, and others found it too difficult to get to. Does anyone know what happened to them?

Come here for the amazing, authentic Italian gelato. Stay for the great lunch options. The Marscapone gelato is to die for. I’ve only done lunch once, but definitely need to go back. I had a caprese salad which was made with ripe crisp tomatoes and was drizzled with a high quality olive oil and basalmic vinegar. I can’t wait to try their other offerings.

Their affogato was just amazing. It was just perfect Expresso and the gelato was really great. Ambience — it’s a decently casual place. Gelato — 3.99, 4.99 and 5. Something. Prices are reasonable. One odd thing is that they close fairly early. So you have to be choosy and catch your deserts on time. I haven’t tried their paninis but they had good choices. Overall the gelato was satisfying.

I usually do not like to give five stars anymore unless I absolutely believe they deserve it, but based on ambiance, cleanliness, price per quality-quantity value, and customer service I strongly believe they deserve a five star rating for a mid size college town café. I ordered the«Make your own» panini for $ 6.99, which I chose turkey, swiss cheese, tapenade(olive spread) and avocado on ciabatta bread. The panini’s come with chips or salad and I picked the salad, which was by the way fresh and deliciously great. My wife had a salad. The whole family ate and loved the Gelato — a combo of two flavors, which was made in-house. It is such a great treat to beat the heat! Looking forward to returning soon!

«Gelato, Panini, Salads & Crepes». This café has a lot of my favorite things wrapped up into one… how lovely is that? They even have a dreamy Affogato on their menu… I am super excited for my next visit, just because I want one of those. I ordered the mixed greens and strawberry salad and my husband had one of the panini-pressed sandwiches! The salad was simple: mixed greens, fresh strawberries, balsamic vinegar & olive oil for the dressing and exactly what I craved during the blistering summer day. Yumm! Of course my favorite treat was the house-made gelato. We had a medium size with 2 different flavors: fresh strawberry and Stracciatella — it has fine bits of chocolate and very similar to the American chocolate chip ice cream; it is my favorite, so I was so excited that they had it. This café can easily be missed, but it is close to LSU just a couple doors down from the Highland Coffee shop, which is another favorite of mine. I will be back for my Affogato!

Time spent: one hour, Friday evening Food: chicken panini, bottled water, free sample of chocolate gelato and Nutella gelato. Company: my friend Z. We were joined by the very friendly owner’s brother who pulled up a chair and chatted with us a good 20 minutes. Left with: doggy bag with leftovers, a new FB friend(the owner’s brother M), a good knowledge of the islands around Greek(that’s where M went for a vacation — he showed me pics!), a smattering of Italian(M speaks ItaliaLish), and a very good mood. Price: less than $ 10 Tip: they have live music on Monday nights and probably an expanded menu.

The 3 times I’ve gone, the service was lackluster. The gelato is over priced, especially the pints! 10 $!! And the server barely fills the pint-up. Today I went and called ahead to make sure they we’re open. The server told me she was closing«soon».I asked her when soon is and she says«probably within the hour.» I get there to a family of 3 walking out, two tables of people dining & a sign on the door that says they’re open till 10pm. The server was not interested in helping me at all. She barely filled my 10 $ pint and was annoyed that she had already closed her register when I was paying. Why close the register w/patrons in the store? Definitely a let down. The prices, the service, and the total vibe of this place is not worth it.

I love purchasing from small local businesses and I just walked in about 5 minutes ago due to a craving for some amazing gelato and have been wanting to try this place out anyway. My husband and I walked in with two girls behind the counter and they didn’t greet us. While this doesn’t warrant for bad customer service the fact that one walks up closer to the gelato area and says«what do you want?» is. Rude but my craving for gelato exceeded my desire for customer service. Then I look up to ask her for a taster and she has her finger up her mouth looking for Lord knows what. That is, to put it lightly, UNSANITARY and to do that in front of a customer is disgusting. We ended up walking out without gelato. My gag reflux couldn’t take this, & I work too hard for my money to spend it on a place that lacks common courtesy customer service.

Right next to campus. Good product, staff person very welcoming. Would have liked a real spoon instead of the tasting small paddle.

It is a shame that more people don’t eat here. When I asked the waitress why, she said«I guess it is just the location.» Most people come for the gelato but are totally missing out on lunch. They have premade salads, canolis, cookies etc. BUTTHEREALGEM is the fresh made daily lunch specials that are written on a blackboard in chalk. I had the oven roasted turkey with chunks of Brie and fig jelly/preserves. The saltiness of the cheese and sweetness of the fig was a match made in heaven. Best panini I’ve had in a while AND it comes with a salad! Husband had the muffaletta and enjoyed it. Go here for lunch and you wont regret it. You may not even have room for the gelatto… I didn’t. Usually that would make me sad but I was fully satisfied!

Overall, I love this little place, and everyone should have dessert there are least once. I have been in several times — usually after a dinner at one of the restaurants in the North Gate area. I rarely give 5 stars, but I had to in this case because I am always impressed(not just satisfied) by the quality of the gelato. They are also always very patient as I slowly make up my mind as I sample so many of the flavors. I have been there so many times and had so many of the flavors that I can’t really write about one particular one. I just have to taste them until I find the one that speaks to me on that particular day. The price has been reasonable every time I have been in, I have treated friends to a gelato several times, and it usually only costs about $ 10.

I’ve been a few times and tried several different gelato flavors. I can comfortably say the gelato is very good, so if you are looking on Unilocal to get a sense of the gelato reputation — there is really no need to probe much further — as you can see — there is a clear consensus that the gelato at Bacio di Roma is on point. This place offers up crepes and other café dishes but I haven’t tried any being that I just come here for gelato. Bacio di Roma is open late which is a plus and usually means that there won’t be a line for service. I went in late last night and there wasn’t anyone there except the cashier’s friend who was reading a book near the counter. And speaking about the service — its standard, giving me nothing more than what I expect but giving me nothing less. Go for the gelato towards evening hours so you’ll have no issue with parking.

Superb Gelato. Super friendly and they clearly care about the product«they make». It’s not cheap shipped in stuff. This is the real deal. We all loved it.

Great gelato and they’re open pretty late! They let you mix flavors, so you can even get some amazing sorbet with your gelato. Or sorbet with your sorbet… And the owner is really nice and friendly.

If you think Highland Coffee is over-rated and over-priced, just pop next door to Bacio di ROma! Great everything! espresso drinks are superb and authentic, and gelato always looks delicious(I don’t really eat ice cream so I have never really tried… but I should!) Bravo!

I had their coffee gelato. That was really good. I also sampled some of their others and will be getting the tiramisu the next time I’m there. I’ll see if I can get my co-workers to stop there after lunch. My only complaint was that they didn’t have a pistachio gelato that day. I’ll try a bowl of that too.
