We just tried Mahoney’s for a second time using the Waitr app. The first time we ordered, our delivery driver called to apologize because food was taking forever to come out of the kitchen. When he finally got here with our order, the food was hot and the portions large but unfortunately the bacon burger had no bacon and the mayo only cheeseburger had mustard and pickles. This time, we ordered buffalo wings with ranch, a couple of burgers, and an order of onion rings. The portions on the fries and onion rings were about half of what we received the first time. The wings… Ugh… The sauce was nothing like any buffalo sauce I’ve ever tasted before. It was more like vinegar with some cayenne in it. The wings barely had any flavor. And even worse, the were soggy and the skin was chewy and soft. And even worse than that was the fact that they didn’t even include the ranch which I could’ve used to help mask the fact that I was eating the worst wings ever. I get the feeling that they don’t really care about the delivery orders because it isn’t like you can call the delivery driver and have him bring the food back. Maybe things are different when you actually dine inside but I won’t be finding out.

I decided to be adventurous and try somewhere I had never been before. I made the mistake of choosing Mahony’s. This was the first time I had ever seen them open during daylight hours and being a fan of pub style food I gave them a try. When I entered the Restaurant I was«greeted»(if you can call me interrupting a server playing on her phone at the bar to look at the sole customer in the establishment a greeting) and she said nothing. I asked if seating myself was ok to which I got a smug«ok». I ordered a Rueben and side of fried pickles. The Reuben was one of the worst I’d had. The meat was far too thick and the sauerkraut looked like diced lettuce. The fries that came with my order were overly greasy and my diet coke had an off taste to it. The fried pickles I ordered came out well after I had finished my sandwich. When my sandwich arrived I politely asked if my pickles were on the way my «hostess» replied yes. After I had finished my meal she finally asked the cook about them and he never got the order. They blamed it on the printer. The fried pickles were fried but, not pickles. Vinegar dipped cucumbers do not constitute as pickles. Also, they somehow allow patrons and waitrons to smoke. This place is a most likely kept in business by 20-somethings who have just discovered alcohol and are too drunk to notice the poor quality of food and service.

Get the burger! The fries are awesome! You can check in on Facebook or sign up for their texts and you get a free beer or shot! Great food and a very reasonable price. Love to watch the LSU games there after a day of tailgating.

I love this bar. I love just down the street so I’ll very often come pop in for a beer or a burger with a few buddies of mine. The food is absolutely amazing and is an incredible value, especially their burgers and wings! The beer specials can’t be beat anywhere, and their selection is massive, on par with the Chimes and at half the price. If you’re on the north side of campus you don’t want to miss this place.

I went here to meet up with a girlfriend and to watch the Mets trounce the Cubs yesterday. This is maybe the third or forth time I’ve been to Mahoney’s(the first few times were during the course of tailgating). They have really awesome specials during the week, especially for beer, but I am not a big fan of their food. I mean, their fries and their onion rings are great, but their wings were terrible and their burgers were meh. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable and the service is very quick. Also, the shuffleboard table is a nice touch. All in all, it’s a decent place to drink but I wouldn’t recommend them as a place to eat.

Arguably one of the best burgers in town! Great atmosphere and staff. Nice open area to mingle!

Nice little, recently opened bar near LSU and Varsity. This places has a nice selection of taps for beer drinkers. I got hard rootbeer. Yummy. There is a shuffle board table, nice touch. Reminds me of home(Wisconsin) were every bar has one.
