Still one of my all time favorite burger joints. I miss the store but glad they reopened the restaurant. I love the décor and enjoy the casual atmosphere which is perfect for hanging out with my family. The food is always fresh and cooked to order. Since this is my burger fix, I’ve never ventured off the menu, but they do offer salads, chicken, hot dogs, tuna and blt. Their French fries and sweet potato fries are some of the best in town and it’s always a tough decision between the two. The chocolate shakes are delicious and always a special treat.

Thanks to Unilocal,I found this little gem of a burger/fry/milkshake joint. The handcut fries appeared to be double fried – very crisp, but soft inside. The chocolate shake was delicious and very smooth. Ask for a knife to cut the large burger in half to help maintain its integrity while eating. Ripe tomato and dark green lettuce! Grilled onions(yes, free) were great! I went at 5:30 on a Tuesday evening before a soccer game at a local high school and was happy all the way back to New Orleans hours later. Very nice folks!

I have been coming to Dearman’s since I was a little girl. Back then it was the 80’s and the drugstore was still functioning. My sister and I would often go for dinner, sitting at the old counter and enjoying our cheeseburgers, fries and of course a chocolate shake! Today while home for a visit my sister and I stopped in and once again a wonderful meal! Though today he store is gone and now a full restaurant, the food is still the same wonderful food. I enjoyed a bacon cheeseburger, fries and chocolate shake. They were as perfect as I remembered. You just cannot beat their burgers and fries. And the chocolate shake was the perfect consistency not too thick not too thin! I love the fresh cut fries and could have eaten way more than I allowed myself! They are that good! If you have never been here you should forgo a fast food joint and Coke here for a great burger instead! You will not be let down!!!

I have been to Dearmans’ twice now, and today’s visit inspired me to get on here and leave a 5 star review. I’m not even sure where to begin with this. First thing I was really impressed with was the service! There only appeared to be two waitresses working during lunch time when the restaurant was pretty full, but gosh were they good at their jobs. It’s seat yourself, but one was there almost right away to take our drink order. Then the other waitress even came by and said she’d be with us in just a moment but we told her the other girl had already helped us. Then, it wasn’t even just the waitress that would ask if we needed anything. A bus boy, or I’m guessing that was at least his main role, came and refilled our drinks because he passed by and noticed they were low. You can’t get service like that at even some of the nicest restaurants in town!(You definitely won’t get that kind of service at a mid-chain like Applebee’s or Chili’s) The food is honestly just as great as the service. I had a cheeseburger(1 patty was more than enough for me and I am by no means a light eater) with mayo, mustard, lettuce, pickles, and grilled onions. No upcharge for grilled onions is a great perk! Also had a side of fries. The fries needed a little salt, but that’s what it is on the table for. The burger was cooked really well and the condiments all really pulled the sandwich together. All of this and I got out of the restaurant for just a little over $ 10 after tip. That’s much cheaper than I can go eat most places where you get waited on, and even some where you don’t get waited on. It’s safe to say this place is going to become more consistent in my rotation.

Have had lunch here a few times and always have the burger, shake(or malt) with fries. Everything except the buns are made right before your eyes. Diner style seating includes a long bar at the cooking area. Very busy during lunch and wait times can be too much if you have a limit for your lunch period. This restaurant is hard to find as it has minimal signage and is tucked behind Madeline’s at Jefferson and Old Hammond. They need to do a better job at cleaning their work area. If you take the time to look, you will see a lot of grease and dirt near the coke machine and back area. Flies are frequently a nuisance. Will not return until they clean up their act.

Decided on lunch at Dearman’s for lunch. They boasted the«best burger in Baton Rouge» so that’s what I got. I was not disappointed! It was delicious! Nothing fancy just a great burger and hand cut fries at a great price! If I ever visit Baton Rouge again I will definitely return if not before I leave!

I think this is by far the best burger shop in Baton Rouge. The old school feel give it that traditional soda fountain feel. Great quality milkshakes and malts. It’s the simplicity of the menu that adds so much appeal. The house burger patty is amazing along with the hand cut fries. The location is perfect for additional eating and shopping. Don’t worry about the lunch time traffic on Jefferson Highway; it’s just a small obstacle in the way of a great burger…

We stopped here while we were in town due to the good reviews and we were not disappointed. The food was really good: we had hamburgers, shakes, and fries. It was clear that nothing on our plate was pre-made or frozen. The thing that really set this place apart, however, was the friendly service. We had to ask where an atm was and the owner gave us directions and then came over to our table to ask us where we were from. We ended up talking to him for almost half an hour. If we ever go through here again, we will be sure to stop by!

Classic diner greasy burgers, fries and shakes. The double cheeseburger fully dressed with jalapeños is my go to menu choice. Their burgers are among the best and you can even watch them cook them if you want. Service is good food is simple and great. If you want a burger you can’t go wrong here.

Simple, uncomplicated food! My cheeseburger was nice and juicy, and there was no extra charge for jalapeños. The vanilla shake was creamy and awesome too!

Sometimes simple is best and Dearman’s does it right. The service was friendly. I had a cheeseburger and it was juicy and delicious. They don’t have«custom burgers» or a fancy menu, but they really don’t need it. The portions were large for the price. I finished it off with a vanilla shake, which was made with real ice cream. I will definitely come back.

Cute place. Definitely good for families. The food was good and came out quick. They have a burger bar where u can watch them cook your food. Something I thought was interesting on the drink menu was called phosphates. I had the pineapple. I really liked it. It’s hard to describe so just try it. Next time I go I’m gonna try the nectar phosphate. They have other flavors of course but nectar is the only one I remember. Will be a repeat customer.

I am a sucker for diners and greasy spoons. Dearman’s hits the credentials. The menu is very simple: hamburgers, fries and old school malts and shakes. As other reviewers have mentioned, Dearman’s isn’t fancy. The dining room is large and clean but one can tell it’s been heavily used. The kitchen is behind the counter and looks as used and beat up as could be. Unlike most restaurants, you can watch the cook perform their magic. The hamburger patties are hand formed and large. The fries are in the style of hand-cut. One reviewer mentioned the burgers are similar to In-and-Out. These are way better — I have several In-and-Outs near me, and grew up in In-and-Out country. In-and-Out uses a smaller patty, and you have to ask for the bun to be toasted. I think the only thing they could do to make a better burger is to char broil them. If you leave Dearman’s hungry, you didn’t eat.

I loved this place because it is an old-fashioned diner setting… it was that alone that I decided to come here and eat. The customer service was fast and friendly. Of course when I come to a diner, I want nothing more than a burger! I got a plain burger without all the extras, for my first time because I wanted to concentrate on the taste of the burger. The burger was nothing to write home about, but it was still tasty and perfectly cooked! I will definitely back… it has been so long!

Dearman’s is an old school diner that specializes in hamburgers and shakes. After several trips, I decided a review update was in order. Dearman’s is not fancy. The clean white interior reminds me of the photos I’ve seen of diners in the 50’s. There is a very large seating area with tables and booths, but I like to sit in the middle at the tables. Service has always been friendly and prompt. But I can get good service at lots of places. What keeps me coming back is the burger. Burgers can be ordered in single, or double patties varieties. Unless you’re really hungry, the single patty is more than enough food. The patty is hand formed, and cooked on a griddle seasoned by years of burgers cooking. That griddle imparts an excellent flavor along with lots of greasy goodness. I do prefer burgers cooked over an open flame, but as fried burgers go, Dearman’s can’t be beat. The other great item they serve is their fries. While I’m not sure, they appear to be of the hand cut variety. They are perfectly fried and not greasy or overly crispy. Add ketchup and you have the perfect potato. One odd thing about this place is the lack of utensils. They will bring them if him ask, but I think they should bring them with every meal. I’m not above eating a burger and fries with my hands, but a fork would sure help prevent ketchup stains on my work shirt. All of this awesomeness comes with another perk; the price. Dearman’s prices are downright cheap. A fully dressed burger and fries is in the neighborhood of $ 8. You cannot beat this quality for that price anywhere. If you’re in the BR area and want a good burger, check out Dearman’s.
