I’ve been to drink with friends in the service industry, and on that front, the place is a smokey hole of good times. Little more than a hole in the wall, I normally wouldn’t rate a bar like this at all. Brunch is a different story. The menu leaves much to be desired, being nearly identical to the regular menu save 4 or 5 items. The food is only mediocre. Half of my party(of four) waited over 40 minutes for shrimp and grits and a burger. My boyfriend and I got ours in about 20 minutes, and when it became apparent that our food would be cold if we didn’t eat soon, we began and finished before our friends received their meal. Oh, and French toast was on our friends’ tab. Really shouldn’t have taken so long. The place had fewer than 20 customers. I gave it three stars instead of two because of the general fun atmosphere as a bar at night. As a restaurant, the place is abysmal. Edit: my boyfriend specifically asked for a medium cooked burger. It was charred black. Down to two stars. It was on the ticket, too.

TUESDAYS: $ 5 Burger and $ 12 all you can drink wine… Here’s the thing. I love small, dark, bars with good food and personality and Duvic’s fits the bill. Yea, I hate that my hair smells like a pack of cigarettes when I leave but that’s a part of the atmosphere… Right? Anywho, the drinks are strong and the bartenders are attentive and skillful in thier drink making abilities. Now as far as the burger… YESSS the burger is so worth it just a simple burger with the typical fixings, but you can tell by the taste that the quality of the meat is up to par and seasoned well. For about $ 2 more you can add the TODIEFOR Duck fries and have a serious cheap eats night. I heard the brunch on the weekends is worth my while … Stay tuned.

Tuesdays $ 12 all you can drink wine and $ 5 burgers, 7 to 10. Really? We had to try this place. The outside is a bit dated and the sign advertising a Martini bar left us even more curious. Inside was a large bar, pool table and table seating. It was pretty dark and a bit smokey, but not enough to scare us away. The staff was very friendly. Great service. The burgers were good. Moist, large, pink center, soft bun. We ordered some duck fat fries, as a side. One word, AWESOME! Hot, lightly salted and served with katsup and a creamy ranch sauce. I’m going back and making a meal out of these. The $ 12 wine was pretty good. Several whites and reds to choose from. And you can mix it up. There is a nice beer menu, and even a Martini menu with a dozen house speciality martinis. They also have a Sunday brunch with two for one bloody Marys and mimosas. Sounds like a reason to return.

I’m a fan of dark and dingy bars so of course duvics is one of my favorite places in town. The location is great with several other bars and restaurants within walking distance. The place is dark but not so dark that you can’t see where you’re going. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. Duvics has a variety of great drinks, wine, and beer but I always get a martini. They take the time to chill the glass properly and wash it out with vermouth. You get a properly made drink and it is very strong so be aware! Wednesday is martini night when they are only $ 5. That’s a great deal considering it’s really two drinks… Oh and the burgers here are awesome so I recommend you get one. The only drawback is that the bar gets very smokey.

I’m pretty sure nostalgia is the only thing that keeps me coming back here. The service is awful. If you’re not sitting at the bar it takes forever to get a drink. The last time I was there I spent ten minutes standing there waiting for a beer while my companion sat alone back at our table. A guy kept coming around to switch out our ashtrays, but when I asked him if he could grab me another beer, he said he only cleans tables. So then I had to pause my conversation to go stand at the bar for another five minutes. So annoying! At least standing gives my back a break from the uncomfortable booths. Bartenders used to come to the tables if they weren’t too busy and I’m not sure why they stopped. I’d definitely buy more drinks and tip more if I didn’t have to work so hard for a bottled beer.

I had a surprisingly good experience at Duvics. Went on a week day evening and there were plenty of places to sit at the bar. The bartender was so sweet and made great recs for food and drink. Didn’t eat there but heard the burgers are really good. Had a grapefruit martini which was delicious. Atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. Didn’t feel out of place despite the fact that the majority of people there appeared to be regulars. The place is def a dive bar. But the martini menu gives a classy twist that makes it much more memorable. Overall a good experience.

Duvic’s is great. A lot of people here are complaining that it’s very smokey and a bit divey, but that doesn’t bother me. The bar staff is super friendly and the service is great. They even have a pretty good beer menu. They do keep the place a bit dark and it definitely makes me think of a cave when i walk in. Duvic’s also has really good food. The burgers here are awesome. They also have brunch, though I have yet to try it so I can not comment on it. Basically if you don’t mind smoke and dark bars, you’ll probably have a good time here.

I was in a generally bad mood when I entered this establishment, most likely because I knew I was stuck in BR for the night. While this would have been the ideal dimly lit dive to drink away my geographic sorrows and pass out beneath the interstate, I had some economizing to get back to and was unfortunately unable to imbibe a suitable quantity of libations to forget where I was. That being said, it is smokey, noisy, vaguely over-priced and a generally bad place to be when you know you have a desk full of math waiting for you. However, I can’t deride this boozeitorioum based solely on my sour demeanor. In better spirits, I image Duvic’s may be the local of many a palatable evening. If the drinks are a little poorly made and pricey, the company is affable and the specials plentiful. I’m inclined to stop by Duvic’s for another round. With it’s prime spot beneath the interstate(and adjacent to Chelsea’s), I imagine I will be patronizing this poorly lit lounge in the near future.

Alright, so some of the martinis aren’t the best, but the bartenders are really nice, awesome people. People = 5 stars. Cocktails = 2 stars. Going to Duvics and drinking beer = solid 4 stars.

I’ve been to Duvic’s twice and while I always enjoy the company of my friends, I can’t say that I enjoy Duvic’s much at all. First of all, the bar is extremely smoky. I am not a fan of smoking in bars and really wish this place was smoke-free or had a designated smoking area. Also, it’s extremely dim inside and I’m not sure why… I get that some bars and nightclubs have dim lighting, and it works most most of the time. In Duvic’s the dim lighting gives me the feeling that there are burned out bulbs somewhere that need to be replaced. Finally, the martinis are not very good. I have tried 3 of the martinis: the cajun, the key lime pie, and the mounds bar. The cajun tasted watery and was overly spicy– it basically tasted like the juice pickled jalapenos come in. I ended up asking the bartender to pour it into a regular glass and top it with tomato juice– it was much improved that way. The key lime pie martini was missing the zesty flavor of a key lime and tasted flat and too milky. It also didn’t come with the graham cracker rim that was in the menu description. Last, the mounds bar martini just tasted like a chocolate martini. Even though there was malibu in it, there was absolutely no coconut flavor once the drink was mixed. The one upside was that the bartender was extremely friendly and nice. So nice in fact, that I didn’t want to tell her that my drinks were sub par for fear of hurting her feelings!

I want to love this place. I love the drinks, the bartenders are great, but the smoke cloud that slaps you in the face as soon as you walk in the door is a complete turnoff. It’s such a bummer too because they have this very delicious looking food menu now and have updated their drink menu, but I would not under any circumstances want to eat in this place. Expand the patio and/or ban smoking inside and you’ll see me again, Duvics. Until then, I must bid you adieu.

The drinks were really delicious, and I think I found my go to bartender for an old fashioned. She has short blonde hair and she was definitely the most helpful bartender there. There is definitely a lot of smoke that fills the bar and I guess I expected a martini bar to not be as grimy. I will still be back there though for an old fashioned.

You can’t beat Wednesday $ 5 martinis nights! AND they sure don’t skimp on the alcohol! Either that or I’m just a cheap drunk lol The only thing bad is the amount of secondhand smoke I breathe in and coming home smelling like a stale cigarette, but when you’re buzz its just nice to wash your face and hop into bed… you can worry about washing your sheets the next day =D

I really enjoyed coming here. The smoke was a little bit much but that is so be expected when you go to bars. Everyone should try their Duck Boudin Balls with Duck Fries. Was the yummiest thing I’ve ever eaten! Drinks are Delicious as well. I can’t remember the drink I had although I know it was related to sex! lol The staff is really friendly and the customers were awesome. Even brought us more drinks lol

Duvic’s has got to be one of the better bars in Baton Rouge. Their good prices, solid selections, and friendly service have people coming in and making it a strong crowd even on week nights. The ambiance is dark, however, amidst all of the smoking one will find that there are a couple of large rooms and a main bar in the middle. There are TVs showing sports highlights and people playing pool in the background. Recommended drinks definitely have to be «The Cajun» and«Chocolatini.» Try to sit in an area that allows you to see the TV and avoid the smoking at the same time(next to impossible).
