My son and I wanted to try something different so, we chose this restaurant. The place was great! Paintings on the wall, music, and the staff set the atmosphere. I ordered the grilled cheese for an appetizer and the crayfish risotto for my main entrée. They were both delicious and I plan to go back real soon.

I visited Chelsea’s recently, and it was a neat place. It is a bit hidden under the highway, but the environment inside was rather friendly. They were prepping for a musical performance and there were many families inside, which gave it a welcoming vibe. The spinach and artichoke dip is a must try for appetizer. I had the calamari and Parmesan po-boy. The bread & cheese on the sandwiches are very heavy, so if you’re not looking for a high carb meal, choose something else. I would also recommend the tomato basil soup.

I can’t help it! Every time I go here I get the grilled cheese on foccaccia with tomato basil soup. Yummy It is to die for! Chelsea’s is such a relaxing atmosphere. It has amazing food and very friendly staff. I go to his place during the cold seasons because the soup calls my name often.

We stopped here on our way through Baton Rouge to Texas thanks to some searching on Unilocal. We ordered crawfish cakes to share before each having a cup of gumbo. The gumbo was delicious but I definitely appreciated the server letting us know the bowl was a BIG bowl as the cup was filling enough. If I’m ever in Baton Rouge again, I’ll be returning to Chelsea’s Café.

Some might argue me on this point, however Chelsea’s has some of the best gumbo in town. It’s so spicy and flavorful and the roux does for over power the dish. The tomato soup and grilled cheese IS A WINNER anytime of the year and their service and prices are excellent. Located in the Perkins overpass neighborhood makes the location perfect. Would recommend to any BR visitors.

This was a weird experience. We went in and it was not busy at all, there is no hostess stand as it is a bar so we seated ourselves. We were not sure what to do so we waited for a while to see if a waitress would come over and after about six or seven minutes I went to the bar and asked if we could order at the bar. The bartender said that was fine and I ordered drinks. Brought our drinks a back with menus. About five minutes after that our server shows up and hands me a check. She said«I closed you out at the bar since you are at one of my tables» –OK. I told her sorry we didn’t know how this worked and she made some snide remark about how she was busy. The rest of service was not very good. Never really checked in and had to flag her down just to order another round. Should have just sat at the bar. I had the Mojo Po-boy which was pretty good, but by this time we were just ready to get out of there.

I really liked the broad range menu and decent prices. Even my «strong island»(Long Island) ice tea was a decent price. My boyfriend loved his food chicken fried steak or something with mashed potatoes and very thick gravy. I got the seems to be cliché grilled cheese with tomato basil soup and I was slightly disappointed. I am a huge cheese lover but this meal was definitely overrated. It would be better in the winter maybe the soup was good. There were other things I want to try on the menu so we will definitely be back. Oh and the parking situation isn’t that great down there.

Just ate here last week. The server Ana recommended the lamb burger. I had it cooked medium rare and boy was it good! The goat cheese was a little strong but when is goat cheese ever bland? Our server Ana, kept up with her busy section and serviced our table well. We even saw Gretchen from the kitchen. An overall great experience in a fun fast pace atmosphere.

Chelseas has a good lunch crowd, daily specials, and most of the times I have been here for lunch it has been on a Wednesday— which is chicken fried steak day. I believe chelseas serves the best chicken fried steak in town. The special comes with a side of string beans and mashed potatoes — -never a reason to Complain about this special. The staff is polite and professional although sometimes a little to business like. The only complaint I have here is that the parking is sometimes a battle due to its lack of parking and it being popular.

«Perkins overpass area hidden gem». Literally right under the Perkins overpass, this divey eatery is all aces! Chelsea’s is legendary and is enjoyed by many Baton Rouge locals. The waitresses there have been great about handling larger groups; I always have gone there with a large group. I swear this place is always busy! I have been on a Monday night and it was packed after 7pm. Also, I have been on a Friday for lunch and they are super busy, too! The food here is primo supremo! My favorite are the fried green tomato appetizers and the crispy calamari. Fridays they have lamb burgers, which have a unique taste from what I have had in the past. The place is huge and they even house live performances on certain nights. There is also a bar that is on the other side of the restaurant. I see why this place is a local favorite. People flock from different directions to here. Though the overpass is directly over it, I have never been bothered by the noise. I admit that I have never even heard it. So, whether you are looking for a place for a huge group gathering, I highly suggest Chelsea’s. Excellent food, service and all-around a poppin’ place to hangout!

I think Chelseas has the best Grilled Cheese Sandwich in Baton Rouge hands down ! I got the Grilled Cheese add Bacon, Tomatoes and extra Cheese and it was really delicious. Its already amazing but everything tastes better when you add Bacon right? The Grilled Cheese is already really good so imagine how good it is with extra cheese. What I really love about Chelseas is that when you ask them to add extra cheese they actually add extra cheese. I don’t mind paying for it its not a big deal I just love cheese. I come here probably about every couple of months and ALWAYS get a Grilled Cheese add tomatoes and extra cheese and when I feel like mixing it up a little I add Bacon. I’ve been here lots of times and tried several different things and I have yet to be dissapointed. I’ve tasted the Chicken Fried Chicken, Stuffed Mushrooms, Chicken Florentine and the Spinach & Artichoke Dip and they have all been really, really good. Taylor was our server and she was amazing! She was on top of her game! We had a group of 10 and she was nice, attentive, friendly and our glasses were never empty. I love this place!

This was my first time here for lunch and actually my first time here during daylight. I have to say I will be back! I am already thinking about what I will try next. This time I had the Grilled Cheese with tomato basil soup. It was delicious. Bread waas a little thick but super soft and was awesome when dipping it in the soup. The soup had a slight kick but the sandwich was a good balance. We were a group of 12 and Taylor, our server, was awesome! The entire group of girls that took care us definitely knew what they were doing. All of them were very nice and our party was no match for them. I highly recommend if you have not tried Chelsea’s Café for lunch you do so today! They don’t just have great food but the service and atomsphere is great as well.

Absolutely love this place! Such a cool little restaurant! Great atmosphere and food. I was totally digging the music and the art on the walls! Live bands Thursday through Saturday nights! The food came out super fast although we were there around 6 pm and they didn’t seem too busy at that time. Huge portions definitely get your money’s worth plus more! Do not use GPS to find the place it is very confusing. That would be my only complaint, finding the parking lot under the bridge on Perkins.

Awsome food, awsome food, awome food. Did I mention how amazing the food is? Haha, well its the best part of chelseas. Of course they do offer music and drinks too. I think its hit or miss on there events. Whenever I’ve gone to see a band at Chelseas, I have an amazing time. They have a really bizzare layout because they have two different bars that are connected on opposing sides. Otherwise check this venue out because they have a lot to offer.

I found myself at Chelsea’s Café with a friend of mine whose friend was playing music in the side room at Chelsea’s Café. I’m not too familiar with Baton Rouge, but the staff gave me the impression that local music venues are pretty red in the red stick city. The staff were motivated to change this and wanted us to spread the word that there are places to hear live music in Baton Rouge. So, here you go Unilocal world… go see music at Chelsea’s Café! Chelsea’s café was a little hard to find(it’s on the right side of the road, but you actually have to take a left to get there as their parking is under the bridge in front of it). Once we found it, I fell in love with the coze atmosphere and the amazing grilled cheese and tomato soup. That grilled cheese may have been the best grilled cheese of my life. The bread was soft and sweet, and when I bit into it the mountain of cheese inside just seemed to ooze out, perfectly complimenting the sweetness of the bread. The tomato soup was the perfect addition. I highly recommend it!

Alright locals, please don’t kill me for this review but I do have to remain honest. A friend of a friend recommended this place because of the exceptional grilled cheese and tomato basil. So I recommended that my family eat here. We don’t eat out together as much as I’d like but we all love food, so it’s important to choose a great place. 6 of us went and I tried everyone’s dish, so my review is based on that. Appetizers — fried calamari and spinach & artichoke dip. FC came with tomato basil sauce, which I loved because it was a creative sauce instead of typical marinara. However, it was kind of soggy and not crispy at all. Kind of a big turnoff. Spinach and artichoke dip was very very cheesy. Take that what you wish, if you don’t care for a lot a cheese don’t get it. Entrees: Grilled cheese — this entrée was good, and I loved the tomato basil. However, my perfect grilled cheese is a perfectly crispy bread on outside with warm, melted cheese on the inside. What I got was lumpy cheese in some warm, soft bread. My expectations were too high, I guess. Crawfish risotto — my boyfriend got this, and it barely had any flavor. He added salt and Tabasco with little luck, still not enough flavor. It could have been excellent but it was bland. Pesto cream ravioli with chicken– my sister ordered this and it was delicious. I wish I would have ordered it. Pork Loin au jus– pork with mashed potatoes and green beans. I ate a bite of everything on my brothers dish because he ordered it. The mashed potatoes was chunky, not smooth. The pork was dry and the green beans were barely cooked! Too crispy. Which is not how I like it. Chicken mojo sandwich– my sisters friend got this and ate all of it. So I think this one may be good, but I can’t honestly attest. Overall, only one dish out five was delicious. All the others were barely cutting it. I was disappointed. However, my review was long and descriptive BECAUSE if this is how you like your food please do come. But if you like it how I like it you won’t be impressed with this place.

Chelsea’s. Good Food. Good Music. Good Beer. Real Talk. This is a hip neighborhood stop in BR. Their menu is unique as well. A large variety of dishes that are all delicous. I find myself having a difficult time deciding. Last night I dined on the Smoked Pork Loin au Jus: 8oz. center cut chop smoked over pecan wood served with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh lemon garlic green beans $ 11.95. DELICIOUS. This is a place you can pop in for a daily lunch special, bring a date, have a beer, listen to great bands(local and traveling), hold a meeting, host a themed birthday party, or just sit at the bar and chat up one of the locals. I recommend it to anyone. Never a disappointing experience.
