Table Kitchen and Bar is a solid restaurant. Great Atmosphere. Great Food. Great Service. It’s vibe is fairly unique in this part of town. It’s surrounded by upscale(Juban’s and Galatoire’s) and Bar Grub(Bulldog) Highly recommended for the casual farm to table crowd.

I drove by TABLE the other day and thought the patio interesting. Dined here tonight after reading a bit about it and being happy about local farm food served. The hostess smiled and said nothing so I said I was here for dinner. She did ask what kind of seating I preferred, which is always a nice touch. I took a cozy booth. Atmosphere is warm, with soft lighting, wood(barn-like, very comfortable) wall panels but not the greatest acoustics. Nice though very warm. My proseco was perfect, as was the arugula dinner salad with the most scrumptious citrus vinaigrette. Wow! I could eat it everyday! My entrée of shrimp & grits was a bummer. I had asked about the potato soup but told my server«no» because it had meat in it. So having ordered shrimp & grits she made the mistake of not telling me of ham being in it(only for me to find out by taking a bite –ugh). But I realize that can happen. So, I suggest the menu list ham in the entrée(currently not described as such). Well, I sent it back and got drum fish with Louisiana purple rice. The rice was magnificent and I will try to buy it in a store to bring home with me!!! Alas, the fish was mega salty. I was hungry and ate it but feel I now need a gallon of water to wash it down. Oh, my table was messy from the first plate and I had to ask for it to be cleaned. A young man pouring my water kind of wiped it but barely cleaned it. Now all of this wouldn’t matter to me if dinner wasn’t so expensive. For a little under $ 53.00(pre-tip), including 2 glasses of wine, I feel I could’ve done better at a number of places. That’s my review. Tooooo wordy, I’m aware. I WOULD like to return to try the red fish dip appetizer. I like the concept and suggest if you’re promoting you serve food from local farms that you list the farms(and their food). Cheers.

I’ve tried repeatedly to really get into this restaurant. I personally don’t have the same feelings about Table as many of my peers do. I think it’s just normal. I’ve had many of the appetizers(none to write home about): the crab cake, ceviche, red fish dip, and chicken livers. The crab cake with the fried green tomato was alright. The tomato wasn’t cooked enough. The red fish dip was okay as well. I thought the snapper ceviche I had one time was not good at all. It had hardly no flavor. The one meal I’ve actually really enjoyed there was a bite I took of my cousins grilled cheese. It was divine. But it’s a grilled cheese! I’ve had the Brussel sprouts. The flavor is good but I always find them slightly undercooked. The service is okay as well. It takes awhile to get your drinks(and I mean when the restaurant is dead). I had some chicken dish for an entrée one time that was okay. My mom and sister had the burger the other day and said that it was good(I don’t eat red meat). I’ll continue to go with my girls, but I think I’ll just stick to a salad and cocktails.

I was really looking forward to eat here but my first impression wasn’t good. This place is not kid friendly at all and my food was cold and nasty.

Food was delicious. Had the fried green tomatoes/crab cake for app w shrimp and corn bisque. Both very tasty(fried green tomatoes were my favorite). Entrees: I had the salmon was it super tasty and husband had ribeye and we enjoyed both very much. Server was very nice. Great experience.

Went back for a second meal at Table and, as much as I hate to say it, it was not as good as my previous experience. The service was great, people were friendly and attentive, décor remains inviting, up tempo. Sat at the bar for a few minutes — they had limited selections but the selections they DID have were well chosen in my book. So, whether you’re a scotch, bourbon, whiskey, gin, vodka or tequila person — there were some good options for you. We then went to the table and, overall, I would say the meals were a little underwhelming. Maybe it was a bad night. Having said that — there were still some bright spots. Will get to those in a few minutes. Let’s start with what could be improved. For example — we tried the Fried Cauliflower — which held out some promise just from the name. But the batter on the cauliflower was not completely cooked so — a little«doughy» tasting. But the bigger thing was that the cauliflower itself was bland. I know — it’s CAULIFLOWER. But it seems like it had zero seasoning on it at all — not even basic salt and pepper. Perhaps they were relying on the«fried» aspect to supply the flavor — but it didn’t. I will say, however, that the sauce was delicious and almost rescued it. Key word: Almost. Anyway, It’s just one item — but I don’t think I would be ordering that again. The bread rolls were a little stale. And my friend who ordered the Vermillion Bay Catfish — also found it to be a little bland and on the small size — in terms of portions. I had the Shrimp Puttanesca which was solid without being amazing. But still solid. I would eat it again. Ordered roasted brussels sprouts as a side — they were small and a little too oily for my taste. Flavoring was there but needed something — Nutmeg anyone? A dessert was ordered — something involving banana cake and peanut butter and was tasted by a few people and then remained on the table, mostly uneaten. There’s a story there. But there were some bright spots. The smoked fish dip appetizer was delish. Another friend had the falafel and LOVED it. And the wings were a favorite for someone else. And I still relish the memory of the delicious steak I had the first time I came. All in all — a good meal, but did not live up to my first experience there which was more memorable. But I’m not counting them out…

I wanted to love this restaurant. I really did. We just moved from DC where we are very used to farm to table restaurants, so I was thrilled that this place existed. I think it has potential but still needs some work. The setup of the restaurant is beautiful. It has a good layout, good design choices and I was excited when the hostess sat us down. Appetizer: Vietnamese chicken wings. Vietnamese is one of our favorite types of food but the sauce seems strange on these. Perhaps it was just a flavor preference but my husband couldn’t stand these. I ate a few and then didn’t want anymore. Entrees: We both got the special of the day which was a sirloin steak. It was fine… just not great, especially not for almost $ 30. We were underwhelmed as there were some good flavors but the meat itself just didn’t taste that great. Dessert: Sweet potato cake. This was delicious and our favorite part of the meal. We will be back again to check it out some of the other options and hopefully we have a better experience. I really want this place to be good!

Positive: Food is decent. Small portions. Nothing great, but nothing was bad. Atmosphere is great(see) Negative: Biggest complaint is that it is way over priced and the kitchen takes forever to get food out. We went for brunch on a Sunday. Beautiful weather so we sat on their patio. It is not decorated as cool as the main dining hall, but the aesthetics overall are excellent. Contemporary rustic — think Mountain Brook in Birmingham. Food wait time was 40 minutes. Wait staff didn’t apologize so I assume it takes that long every time. The portions were very small and it cost $ 84 for 3 people with no alcohol. Also the menu price and the ticket price was different(but I didn’t say anything).

I am a transplant here from Philadelphia and my husband and I have been anything but impressed with the food here in Baton Rouge. Table is a bit of an exception. Although it would be considered mediocre back home, it’s really good for this area. Food had great flavor and the presentation was great. Only thing I would change is that most of the staff worse jeans, sneakers and LSU shirts which really trashed the place up considering it looks really nice inside and they had plastic water pitchers. Kinda threw the whole vibe off. But thank you, Table for not having overly seasoned, bad quality food for a change.

I was hesitant to share this diamond in the rough but we all know Unilocal members or generous. The atmosphere is contemporary clean and inviting. The bar is copper bar top is very chic along with the outdoor patio. I visited the Sunday after the LSU Mississippi State game and learn they only had three tables the week before for the McNeese State game. I am certain that will change this weekend. My daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful brunch: redfish smoked dip was first. The dip was not too smokey and had lots of fresh fish along with pecans that balanced the texture of the crisp toasted baguette slices. We put the dip aside to enjoy our main course and requested additional toast with our to go box and were quickly told«of course». We had the tomato pie with bacon and stoneground grits and it was lite delicious and farm to table fresh. The gulf fish was fresh redfish that was pan seared lightly dusted with a Steens syrup reduction on top roasted tomato jam and the home fries were reminiscent of Louise only not as greasy and burnt. It was truly the best restaurant fish I have ever eaten ever!

I would rate this place higher if I could. The menu is limited but every dish I tried was phenomenal. I also recommend making reservations as this place was packed. Luckily my group arrived right at opening. The ambiance is very industrial but new for Baton Rouge. Some notable dishes from the brunch menu were the tomato pie with bacon and shrimp and grits.

The food is excellent. My only complaints are two: First, both times we’ve been(both on weekend nights) it was very loud. The last time the noise level was noticeably unpleasant and took away from a good meal. Second, both times we’ve been we’re after 6:30 pm but the sun had not set. The glare inside the restaurant was really bad. I was facing one of the big windows and could not see the person in front of me. They really need to add window coverings to make the atmosphere more enjoyable at those times.

Visited Table twice and unfortunately I was not pleased with the food. Ambiance is very nice and cocktails are pretty good as well. However we were not impressed with the food at all. We walked in with a big group on a Thursday night and the restaurant was pretty much dead… but hey that’s ok bc figured service and quality of food would be even better expected. Apps: Cheese board — huge disappointment. did not like the variety of cheeses and they did not seem to pair well with each other. Chicken wings — completely dry and not juicy. Table Salad — just your basic salad. nothing unique or different. Fried green tomatoes — no flavor and batter was not good with the tomato. Dinner: Pork shoulder — came out cold so had to send back… fried okra was not good at all. It didn’t taste fresh one bit. more like frozen. Pork shoulder was already pulled apart and was extremely dry. needed more sauce. Lamb — 2 people got this from our table and it has no flavor at all. Not even your basic salt/pepper. Burger — was decent. Steak — also decent Fish of the day — Mahi Mahi was pretty good. Good/refreshing flavors. Overall a huge disappointment. All 8 of us are huge foodies and were excited about a somewhat farm to table restaurant finally being here in BR however nothing about the food tasted fresh. Service also could’ve been better. we had to ask twice to get water refilled and drinks throughout the evening.

Love, love, love!!! I’ve already been here twice and I don’t think that’s enough. My first trip was a lovely Sunday brunch with the bf. We both ordered the Big Breakfast and wow, it did not disappoint. The greatest thing is you get one of everything here… no need to choose! The country ham was a little salty but was okay with the eggs or biscuit. The sausage was seasoned to perfection and had a wonderful Rosemary flavor. They did not have any jelly for the biscuit but the house made butter was actually better than any jelly I’ve had. Last but definitely not least… the world’s best BACON. I don’t know what they did to this wonderful piece of pork to make it better than any other slice of bacon I’ve ever eaten(which is saying a lot) but I encourage them to keep on doing it! After such a great brunch, we decided to head back for dinner the following week and again… WOW! I had to order the burger after seeing it pass my table at brunch but I also had to request the addition of the world’s best bacon. This burger was fantastic! The cheddar was a perfect addition and you already know how I feel about the bacon. even the fries made me smile. My bf ordered the pork shoulder and there were beautiful crispy bits that I still dream about. Overall, this place is a slam dunk! They are pretty busy so I definitely recommend making a reservation.

I’m giving a «meh» review but I am optimistic about this place. First, the space itself is nice, rustic yet hip and upscale. Bar area is great and they appear to have a good staff and cocktail selection. We shared the deviled egg and smoked redfish dip appetizers. Deviled eggs were good and the smoked redfish dip was amazing. I could have ordered the redfish dip as an entrée and been more than satisfied. The tomato and cucumber salad was nice and I liked the lemon-mint vinaigrette dressing. Now for the not so great things that can easily be remedied or maybe I caught them on an off Thursday night. The complimentary little mini-biscuits served were over cooked and hard, almost crunchy. I had the pit smoked pork shoulder entrée. While there were some good points(mac and cheese was awesome and the smothered greens were good), the pork was overcooked and dry/hard and it was supposed to be the star of that entrée. To make things worse, it was not a cheap dish. The prices at Table are not ridiculous but it’s definitely not cheap. For the price the meal I ate was not worth it. However, there were some great flavors in there and I think if the execution issues are worked out, Table could be a great restaurant. My experience wasn’t so bad that I wouldn’t give them another chance. If anything, I would definitely come back again and again for drinks and apps.

Wow! The food here is amazing! They specialize in locally sourced ingredients to make their gourmet offerings. On our first visit to Table we started with an order of deviled eggs and fish dip. Both were great! The dip is a unique offering, for sure. For our entrees my husband tried the hamburger which he enjoyed. My mother-in-law ordered the steak which was a 12oz ribeye. And I ordered this wonderful stuffed eggplant which was vegan, if you’re in to that sort of thing. We had wonderful service and good drinks; too. But the food is where Table shines!

The food was great! The house salad is delicious. I’ll definitely order the redfish dip again. The veggies were super fresh and the beef must have been good because my husband ate every bite of the grass fed buco. The donut bread pudding is a delicious sweet treat but I’m not sure diabetes in a bowl is what Baton Rouge needs now that we are officially the fattest city in the country… I’d love to see more veggie options on the menu!

As a fan of the previous 3 restaurants in this space, I have high hopes for Table. The set-up of this place is stellar, one side group seating, gorgeous wood bar in the center and patio seating on the end — it’s a happy hour/brunch loyalist’s dream, a great place to meet up with the girls before going out on the town. Based on my first impressions, Table serves this crowd pretty well. Inventive drinks like the New York Sour and tasty appetizers like the Table Better Cheddar(their variation of pimento cheese dip) and Deviled Eggs are huge steps in the right direction. My main beef is their entrée prices are a little steep for the food offerings. I understand it’s farm to table and that comes with a price, but if you’re going to charge $ 19 for a burger and fries, I want it to knock my socks off — not just a burger with pimento and tomato. I will definitely be back for happy hour and appetizers, because I think this place has great potential and a great staff. I think I’ll wait a bit to wade into the dinner zone, though, at least until they shake the newness off.

Great new concept for Baton Rouge! Interesting and delicious offering in both food and beverage. Large portions with great combination of comfort and creativity!
