Unimpressive Had a catfish plate and my husband had a combo platter with shrimp and catfish. The food was overpriced for what we were served. My husband never received the salad dressing for his salad after it was spilled on the way to the table. The salad was limp and pitiful looking. I don’t think the dressing would have helped it much. He did receive the requested tartar sauce, although he had to ask for a second helping because he didn’t get enough to eat with the food he was served. While the seafood was cooked well, there was not enough of it for the price that was charged. The catfish I had were two distinct temperatures. One set was room temperature and the other had just come out of the grease. The French fries were under done. By the time we left, the place was packed, and I can honestly say, I cannot figure out why. Maybe their crawfish is fantastic. It certainly has nothing to do with their other food. The one good thing I can say is that the staff was nice. The food was served quickly, despite the number of people there(this may be why the fries were under done). We won’t be back. This is a once and done for us.

Went to Marty J’s on Perkins tonight for the first time after seeing the commercials. The place was full up and several people were standing waiting for tables to open up. The crawfish were seasoned well, and the food was good. Several times we asked for something and it was forgotten, but you could tell the small staff was overwhelmed with the influx of people around dinner time. Several things were wrong with our order and when we flagged down the manager/owners daughter I believe, she was kind, apologetic and begged what could she do to make it right and ensure that we would return to the restaurant. That alone will have me returning. Her care and willingness to accept fault for the other workers mistakes was refreshing from a young person. There was also a young man who was bussing tables with a smile on his face the entire time. They made the slightly negative experience enjoyable. The Poboy bread was delicious, not too hard or chewy, the fries were seasoned with Tony’s and crispy, and the crawfish were seasoned alright. The roast beef was slightly drier than I’m accustomed to, however. They sold 3 ice chests of crawfish in about 30 minutes as we sat there eating. We did not expect the crowd to be like it was. We will be back because of the friendly staff and the food’s potential, and I expect that they will get it figured out after a few weeks of being busy.

4 star for eat in food. 2 star for my boiled crabs to go with quite a few bad ones. 3 for service as there always seems to be someone new and we end up explaining to them prices, menu, etc. Po-Boys, boiled crawfish and steamed shrimp we ate in were great. Barqs, Dr Pepper and Coke in the bottle are big plusses to us. Balls and pies of the meat and seafood variety are also good. Will return from time to time for the fix.

We had two salads, mine was a chicken salad, and my son got Mac and cheese, we also got a large onion ring because the guy at the counter was bragging about how good they were supposed to be. My salad was ok but certainly not worth the almost $ 12 cost. My wife’s salad had some sort of strange goo in the container so we got a replacement for that. My son didn’t like the Mac and cheese, it was definitely from a box and the noodles were overlooked at that. The onion rings are sliced so thin you get no onion flavor at all, just a lot of greasy batter that doesn’t really have much flavor itself. It was over $ 30 for dinner and I won’t be doing that again. Didn’t try the po boys, might give them a second chance for that, but I’m not a big fan of po boys…

First and most importantly, I would like to say that the young man working the register on Saturday was the world’s best employee. I actually would gladly steal him away if I were a business owner. He was nice and knowledgable about everything. He greeted everyone who walked through the door and showed real honesty by telling a few people the boiled crabs were on the small side. I wish I had asked his name but will probably be back just because of him. Onto the food, I ordered the fried shrimp plate and the bf ordered a fried oyster poboy. My shrimp were pretty good but I wish the batter would’ve been slightly crispier and the french fries were okay. Nothing was bad but nothing was phenomenal either. BF really liked the poboy and said the bread was perfect. He also had the homemade onion rings and these were okay but again I wished they were slightly more crisp. Overall, not too bad but not great either. The good news is that they have wonderful employees!

Don’t go here expecting a great hamburger. It’s a step above Sonic. The bacon be fakin, the onions not even grilled, wheat soggy bun.

Great food, Great service! We went on all you can eat crawfish night. It was very crowded but they had the staff ready and checked on us frequently. Kept our trays full of crawfish and our drinks full.

This place remind me of why I live in Louisiana. I will be 300 lbs this time next year because of this place. I might be over reacting since I’ve only been once but I dont think so. There’s so many more poboys and cheesecakes and pepper jack boudin balls to try! Y’all can have your Ruth Chris and your Melting Pot dinners, you’ll find me at Marty J’s!
