With this being only the 12th review so far, we related most closely to Jessica’s review. We recently moved to BR from Georgia a few months ago and were quite used to average to good quality Chinese restaurant food delivery in a small town about 100 miles from Atlanta. (Fort Benning) Let me say this about Chinese food, it varies greatly around this country and we have been to many cities in the USA and have experienced a wide range of Chinese food. Even been to China too. I have not usually written reviews about my many restaurant experiences, but being new in town and learning that is very active here, I thought I could use this experience to alert my neighbors about my horrible meal and interaction with the staff. We carefully review businesses, hotels and restaurants prior to extending our money for those services. We found the reviews on , and quite favorable for this Panda House Chinese Restaurant. So, we decided to give them a try. We ordered(for delivery, we included a 20% tip too) appetizer #1 — egg rolls, Soup #14 — hot and sour soup, S13 — general tso’s chicken and H12 — hot and spicy beef. Let me indulge you with my break down of each dish, then my discussion with the staff. Eek! Egg rolls, bland, tasteless and soggy. I get better egg rolls from sam’s club. Only 2 hot mustard sauces and sweet sauces for 4 egg rolls? Ahh, too many problems, from bad food, to bad management and no help from the kitchen. DON’T GO!

These guys are great. The food is delicious for the price. And they deliver which makes it better.

I visit about once every 2 weeks for take out. I tend to order mixed veggies with spicy garlic sauce. It’s not really on the menu but if you ask they will do it for you. I add shrimp to the dish sometimes and it’s always good. They serve large portions for the price and the shrimp and vegetables are always fresh and perfectly cooked. They offer delivery and have a few tables inside so you can eat your food there if you just gotta have it now. This isn’t fine dining but it’s great for take out and easy on your budget. I’ve noticed they don’t always stick 100% to the hours posted but most of the time they are on schedule. I really rate them at 3 ½ stars but Unilocal doesn’t allow for that. I rounded up because the family that owns the place try so hard to please their customers. If you are in the area and hungry for Chinese food you should give them a shot. I know I’ll keep ordering for this local family owned place.

All around good fresh food for a good price. The staff was really nice and friendly when we placed our order. I ordered some Shrimp fried rice and my boyfriend ordered the Sesame chicken with Pork fried rice and an egg roll. We got our order to go and both of our boxes were packed to the rim with food. My Shrimp fried rice was only $ 4.30 and it was so much food. There were tons of shrimp in it, they were cooked really well and they were huge. They really packed a lot of rice in that box because I kept eating and eating and eating and it looked like I hadn’t eaten anything out of it. I tried some of the Sesame chicken and it was good too but honestly I really really liked my food because it had so many shrimp in it that I wanna go back and just get some more Shrimp fried rice.

Great value, very polite staff, sweet and sour chicken was great, Lomein had great taste, but was not real Lomein noodles, more like spaghetti noodles, and not much meat, but tasted good.

Panda gets my 50⁄50 vote, or should I say 30⁄20. They are cheap which is awesome for my wallet but nothing close to being great quality. Today I got the mandarin chicken and it looked like general tso chicken. Already has the sauce on it and it was nuggets of chicken instead of strips. I usually love having the sauce on the side to dip it in. I guess I’ll have to pretend I’m eating gen tso. :/

I don’t know if this was an off night or I’m just spoiled back home with excellent Chinese food. Prices were great but that’s about it. We ordered the Pu pu platter as an appetizer and I’ll try to refrain from any puns. It came with egg rolls, fried wontons(cream cheese/crab), fried chicken, pork, ribs and fried shrimp. Not a single bit of it was good. Not only was the meat flavorless but the shrimp batter wasn’t cooked all the way through. For our dinner we got general tso and orange chicken. No spice to it. Also, my husband and I couldn’t tell the difference between our meals. They tasted the same. The food was cheap for the amount you get and the service wasn’t horrible but that hardly makes up for the food they served. Again, it may have been an off night but I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

For the price($ 5.45 lunch), this was awesome. There is a sushi bar, and the salad bar looked fresh and had a very good selection. The rest of the food was also pretty good, although we were hoping that there would be more seafood.(That would probably drive the cost up significantly though.)

Cheap, no-frills tasty Chinese food. It’s better to do a takeout since they get kinda confused if you want to eat in. The only time I ate in, they served me the food in a to-go container and they seemed to not have glasses etc. for water and drinks. I love the Singapore noodles. It’s very filling and with a bit of Sriracha, it’s quickly becoming my fave comfort food. I’ve also tried the kung pao chicken and the chicken curry. Neither was stellar, and lacked spice. But they use fresh veggies, and their food isn’t crazy greasy or stale. Remember to look at the paper menu for lots more ordering options because the picture-menu on the wall has limited options. Oh, and delivery usually takes about 30−45mins within a 3-mile radius.

I just moved to Baton Rouge and decided to try this place out since it got such a rave review. I even ordered the exact same thing– Orange Chicken Combo(comes with egg roll and I chose pork fried rice) with an order of Crabmeat Wontons– all for $ 11.26. –The packaging was awesome. I hate it when they put saucy dishes in the paper boxes(yes, they’re cute) but they leak! They use the plastic containers that are microwaveable and with a tightly sealed lid. –The portions are generous for the price and I even had some left over for the next day’s lunch. –Food was hot and ready within 10 minutes. –The wontons were excellent, yes, they were filled with enough cream cheese and crabmeat to where it oozed. oooooooooo nommies –Broccoli was cooked perfectly(steamed) and could’ve added just maybe 2 more(I had 4). –Orange Chicken was a lil overcooked but the sauce was good. –Pork Fried Rice could have used just a wee bit more pork and peas… I know it’s a combo but it was mostly yellow rice – which is another pet peeve. –Now, call me picky, but the sweet and sour sauce was too runny. I’m used to and prefer RED(cherry-based), THICK, NOMMIES, sweet and sour sauce. Panda’s is more runny, drippy, and orange-based. –I’m glad I picked up a spoon and napkin because they don’t put those in the bag for you. I thought the layout was if you needed extra but it’s if you need, need it. Makes sense though in way if they were trying to save money by not putting utensils, sauces, etc. in there if you are just going to throw them away. Other than the issues I had, I give it 4 stars(however, I would’ve givein 3.5 if I had the choice but I would visit again). I’ll have to try some other places before I can determine if this is the best takeout, Americanized– Chinese in my area.

I’ve tried many Chinese restaurants in Baton Rouge, and I have to profess that this is the best one I’ve tried so far! This is a new player in the Chinese pool of restaurants here in Baton Rouge and they are definitely worth a try! Granted, I ordered take-out, so this review is only about their service and food, not the restaurant itself. That will come later! I received a menu in the mail advertising their grand opening so I thought I’d give them a try since I live close to them. I started my order off with the Crabmeat Cheese Wontons(same thing as Crab Rangoon). They were phenomenal! These, to me, beat P.F. Chang’s which I thought were the best till I tasted Panda’s! The wontons were perfectly crispy and they did not skimp on the filling which appeared to be cream cheese and flaked crab meat. They could have put just a pinch more crabmeat in the filling but it was too yummy to complain! The filling was in perfect proportion to the size of the wonton. Perfectly fried! The best! It was served with a sweet and sour sauce for dipping which really brought out the flavor! Yum yum yum! I’m getting hungry all over again just thinking about them! The entrée I ordered was the Orange Chicken combo which is a large amount of Orange Chicken(they spice it according to your tastebuds) and served with a few pieces of slightly steamed broccoli next to some pork fried rice. All of which were very colorful… which we know makes food appetizing! They cooked the chicken by deep frying hunks of chicken then mixing the fried chunks with a sweet orangey spicy sauce that had bits of real orange rind in it. Two thumbs up!!! I ordered it with medium spice(didn’t want to go too heavy on the spice till I knew how the chef uses his spices). He spiced it perfectly to order! The chicken did not gush with grease as I bit down and there was plenty of white meat chicken in it(not all batter). Very very good! The Pork Fried Rice could have used a tad bit more flavor or salt, other than that it was really good. I’ll have to try the Shrimp Fried Rice and the House Fried Rice another time. Can’t wait! I also ordered a pint of Mixed Vegetables which is served as a Vegetarian entrée with a side of white rice. It included broccoli, snow peas, mushrooms, carrots, water chestnuts, green and red bell pepper pieces, and baby corn. There may have been some onion in there as well, I can’t remember. All veggies were mixed with a yummy brown savory sauce and were cooked perfectly(tender crisp). Since I ordered the combo which has fried rice with it, I asked that they leave the white rice off of my order that came with the Mixed Vegetables. All food I ordered was to my specifications and was very hot with heat. All packaged well with no leaks. The lady who took my order on the phone had a very heavy asian accent but understood me perfectly and got our order perfectly correct. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! I can’t wait to try more of their food but eat-in instead of take-out. Two thumbs up and 5 stars for this one! Definitely will order from again and will make a followup review then. So stay tuned to my reviews…
