I got two tacos. One was a bbq sausage, the other was a blackened catfish. I guess I should start with, I only wanted one taco, but they require you to buy two for seven dollars. I should have just passed all together. Both tacos were thrown together sloppily, the fish one so badly that it fell apart before I could take a bite out of it. Like literally the shell fell apart. And the catfish wasnt blackened at all. Like ATALL. Im totally disappointed. Im accustomed to the gourmet food trucks in Los Angeles and was really excited to see food trucks in BR. Those tacos were NOT gourmet. No ma’am. The bbq sausage had potential though based on flavor and concept alone, but it fell way short.

Tacos where OK nothing to rave about. The chips and salsa was good. The service is kind of slow. I had the miquel which was grilled chicken with lettuce and other ingredients. I probably will not try them again because the tacos weren’t that great.

Steak soft taco, pork soft taco, even chips, salsa and queso… All very amazing. Admit, most tex mex tastes the same because all the usual ingredients are the same. There is nothing«the same» about TDP. The flavors are unique, but remain very smokey, chili/cumin, and boldly tasty like tex mex should be. I tried their dishes for the first time last night at a political event for Garret Graves for Congress. I was blown away. TDP is the best.

So delicious. Simple food and not too long of a wait. I appreciate that sort of simplicity. The truckers were friendly and efficient and my burrito was well made and scrumptious. Thanks taco de paco! Y’all are the bomb.

My first Taco de Paco visit in quite a while and I was very pleased. We decided to go to March’s Art in the Park at the Baton Rouge Gallery, a great event. To my delight, the truck was parked out front to satiate the taco craving I was experiencing, you know the one I ALWAYS experience. After a 10 or so minute wait(this is a VERY popular truck, and the only one parked at the event that day) I decided to go for a shrimp taco special and the steak taco with corn and black bean relish. Both tacos had this DELICIOUS crema(maybe cilantro flavored?) on top that escalated the tacos from good to great. My belly was ecstatic and the taco craving was satisfied, at least for the moment. You really can’t go wrong for 2 tasty tacos and a diet coke for under $ 10. If you see them around town, do yourself a solid and try it out! If their combinations on the menu that day don’t tickle your fancy, create your own and prepare to do a happy dance.

I’ve been finding Mexican food a bit lacking in BR, but this was surprisingly good. I had a quesadilla with chicken which was large, tasty, and had a lot of cheese and onions and the right amount of chicken. My bf had a blackened fish burrito that he loved and he’s hard to please. Also the guy prepping our food was super nice and gave me some guac on the house. Just found out Taco de Paco will be on Government ave every Tuesday. I’m sure we will be going back.

I happened to pass by the TdP truck while it was sitting in front of Ethan Allen at Perkins/Bluebonnet on 8⁄14. I’m not sure if they’re there every Wednesday, so I gave them a shot. There were a couple of other trucks there, but tacos won out. I always try to enter the truck situation with an open mind, as the industry is growing and evolving quickly. After a quick glance at the menu, I knew I was not going to be getting an authentic Mexican food taco experience… which I am totally okay with when given fair warning like this. I ordered the Juan, which is a steak taco with corn salsa and lemon crème fraîche. When I got my foil-wrapped taco, my expectations skyrocketed. Although the taco was larger than a traditional taco, what it lacked in size now had to make up in flavor to make it worth the $ 3. I unwrapped my gem and was very excited to see that they put the tortilla down on the flat top for a sec, giving it a nice golden color and great firm texture, not soft or soggy. The steak was tender and juicy, not overcooked or tough, which was a pleasant surprise. The corn & bean salsa and lemon crème fraîche gave the taco a light and sweet taste that left me wanting a second helping. Worth the $ 3. When comparing TdP to other tacos I have had in town, it’s a winner. I liked it better than Lava Cantina’s steak tacos, Bar Louie’s chicken tacos, and anything I’ve had from Izzo’s(blah!). I would totally go out a couple of blocks out of my way to pay Taco de Paco another visit.

Should a restaurant(or, in this case, food truck) be judged by what it is, or what it isn’t? I think in the case of Taco de Paco, it’s instructive to ask the question. The food truck revolution has been fueled by taco trucks. As close as New Orleans, we have a taco truck that makes really great, authentic Mexican street food. One can’t get a simple, delicious, traditional steak taco at Taco de Paco. The closest one can get is the«Juan,» whose steak is seared and served medium/medium-rare, with corn salsa, lettuce and a lemon cream. The taco choices only get more complex from there. Frankly, I would kind of prefer that TdP had a simpler approach. And I think that’s why people express disappointment. But TdP has a few things going for it. First, the relative lack of options around town. Second, in my opinion, their ingredients are usually really fresh and handled expertly. I also like the salsa that comes with a meal(although there’s not enough), and the chips are quite good(although usually not hot and crispy). I commend the TdP guys for their ambition — I think they’re trying to take the concept of a taco truck and elevate it, and it seems to me they have the skills to do so. But because many people would probably prefer that Baton Rouge had a cheap, delicious, authentic taco truck(I know I would go more if they served more traditional tacos/tortas), TdP can seem like a disappointment — too expensive, trying a bit too hard.

Being a Mexican food snob and from Los Angeles really taints my opinions on subjects such as tacos and food trucks. Basically it better be damn good and a great value. This place does not deliver on either. I can best describe this experience as «hipster» tacos, meaning that the tacos were trying way to hard to be different without delivering substance. Sorry to anyone who takes offense to that but sometimes you hit the target where radical and substantial intersect but more often than not the target is missed.(or maybe I just dont get it… fair enough?) I ordered the poor mans taco at 8 something dollars and it came out soaking wet with only one corn tortilla. It had steak, lobster, goat cheese, and tomato preserves. It was too sweet, and did I mention that it was soaking wet. The sweetness overpowered any hint of meat or lobster flavors. It drowned it out to the point where it seemed as if I was eating goat cheese drizzled with honey and wrapped in a tortilla. I was surprised at how bad it was so then I ordered the most popular Dat Foo which was the only saving grace of this truck. It was still too sweet given the hoisin and slaw but the pork(nicely cooked) seemed to bring it back from the brink. The Dat Foo is the only reason the truck gets 2 stars otherwise it would be a 1. So I guess the fact that i ordered 2 separate tickets doesnt break my rule of giving low stars on just one visit.

Taco de Paco caught my eye on a trailer show on TV, and I thought that it would be worthy of a stop while in Baton Rouge. Looking back on it, it was not a very good choice over some other BR options. I knew there was something quirky about going for tacos in a Cajun-based eatin’ town. Some of the offerings were unique: BLT, lobster, assorted salsas. Otherwise, I did not see anything too out of the ordinary. The most unique: Da Foo-Slow Roasted Pulled Pork, Chinese Hoisin Sauce, Thai Slaw, topped with a sprinkle of Sriracha Sauce. Sounds good, but really, nothing in the way of amazing, right? Now, $ 3 would be feasible for a life-changing taco, but the Mexican offering here was far from that. It was small, and there was really nothing amazing in the way of ingredients. My Pablo boasted spinach; marinated, grilled mushrooms; garlic; and a heavy sprinkling of Grana Padano. All in all, a very bold and savory combination of veggies, but just… so simple. Unctuous to the max; however, there was just something lacking in the way of creativity. The taco should earn this a middle of the line rating, but the poblano salsa was as mediocre as it gets. No bueno. All in all, I thought that Taco de Paco did not hold a candle up to many of the other trailers that I have graced their presence in my life. Regardless of how well melded the flavors were, I just thought that the pricing, the simplicity, and the portion was just a little off-putting.

I love how food trucks are now in BR! I’ve been to several food trucks in NY and Taco de Paco is nowhere close. The soft-shell tacos easily get soggy and are very small(almost the size of a Lunchables taco!). What makes this even more outrageous is the price they charge for a taco with very little meat, $ 3! The«steak» taco I ordered only had 2 – 3 small strips of meat(which cannot be seen in the picture since there was a lot of corn). I would rather buy three things from McDonald’s dollar menu than eat from here again. I haven’t tried Curbside’s food yet but I have a good feeling it is better than Taco de Paco’s.

I was really looking forward to getting tacos at this cute little truck. I had lowered my expectations after reading the previous reviews here, but I was still disappointed. I visited them at the LSU Lakes today where they were serving the crowd that had gathered for a pet adoption event. The lovely day, and the friendly animals kinda made up for the average food. I got the chicken burrito and K got the pork taco and chicken taco. The burrito was extremely dry and the cheese wasn’t melted at all. It was in big orange shreds. I would have liked a lot more flavor in the burrito… but it was really flat. The chicken should have been cooked with some more spices to make it flavorful and softer. K said the pork taco was better than the chicken taco. So I’ll take his word on that. The one thing good is that they take credit cards — a rarity for most food trucks. All in all, I’m glad I got Taco de Paco out of my system. I used to follow them on FB and Twitter and hope they’d come by near our house. Now that I know the real deal on them, I can move on :)

I have only been to this truck once, mainly because they’re hard to find. But if you find them, they’re worth trying once. I had a couple tacos with chips and a drink. The tacos were ok, but not wonderful.(I have lived near Mexico, so I know what a good taco is.) The spicy salsa was actually spicy, a rare thing in a world full of wimps. So wimps beware, the spicy salsa is not for you.

The trend of disappointing food trucks in Baton Rouge continues. I went with some coworkers to the weekly Wednesday food truck meetup last week at Harb’s Oasis. Parking was kind of a bear(I was nearly parked in when I tried to leave) but I can’t hold that against Taco de Paco. What I can hold against them is that their tacos contain about a week’s allotment of salt. I ordered the portabella taco and the steak taco. The portabella taco tasted like it was made with crappy white shrooms, not big delicious bellas. The taco was soaking wet and almost impossible to eat, especially since I was perched precariously on a bench. The steak taco was a little less soaked, but no less over-salted. As far as dinner goes, it was edible and filling for $ 6.00, but pretty underwhelming. I’d say skip this place if you want a good taco for a good price.

per the recommendation of BRCVB we ventured out to the Wednesday Wroundup where Taco de Paco was one of the vendors. did not take the time to check Unilocal any of the trucks participating and that’s what i get. ordered 2/2taco(steak & chicken) dinners(incl chips and a canned soda) @8 $/ea. the steak was very chewy without any real flavor. the chicken was tender but no real flavor either. the saturation of Pico de Gallo did nothing for the flavor but super soaked the tortilla pretty decently, making for a real mess when eating on the go.

I have become an avid food truck supporter, from Latte e Miele to Curbside Burgers to Ninja Snowballs! I LOVETHEM! So, I finally get to try Taco de Paco today and ugh… I was MUCHO disappointo! I ordered the GOU-DAT taco. Sauteed crawfish tails cooked with bell pepper, green onion and topped with melted Gouda cheese. Sounds yum right? It did SOUND that way. I ordered two tacos feeling that I would be able to fill up for lunch. My order came to the window and I was handed two flat sheets of aluminum foil. I am thinking, there must be a mistake… they forgot to put my tacos in here… Well, there were flat pieces of tortilla with a minimal amount of filling in each taco underneath the foil. Great appetizers but a full lunch… I think not! For 7 bucks, two tacos and a canned soft drink could not satisfy this supporter. *Thumbs down* I wanted to enjoy it, but I have to keep it real!

Big orange truck ensures smile. This rolling taqueria is always a cause for happiness when it’s big orange truck arrives on the scene. Very simple concept of three or four varieties of tacos served quickly, all with a slightly different twist than your average taco joint. Decent prices, I think tacos are $ 3 a piece. And oh so convenient when they come right to you! Follow them on to see if they’ll be at the event you’re attending today!
